Work perhaps?
I went back and watched and didn't see anything like that
Yes I saw him whispering in TK ear I just didn't know what he said. It's hard to tell what is a work and what is real with Aew.
I listened and Tony asked Jericho “Hey are you going to be around?” and Jericho responded “yes” and Tony replied “I’ll call or text you later”. Probably to get together for dinner or drinks. Or a few lines of COKE. I’m guessing COKE! lol 😂
Not hard at all lol

These two are in on the storyline or they are such consumate ass-kissers that they're incapable of objectively covering anything.
Right? Like obviously he was talking about the Bucks. Like who else would he be referring to? Cody is gone and Omega was out at the time. Bucks are the only other EVP's.

Punk told the truth he works with children gymnasts who don't know shit about wrestling JIM Cornette called all of this months ago, CM PUnk is right the bucks are jealous egotistical children trying to sabotage CM Punks run in the company
But it was specifically in the context of calling out "guys who haven't been anywhere or done anything". He's saying he can't be talking about the Bucks because the Bucks of all people in the company have done maybe the most. There's no company without them.
Well factually it can‘t be the Bucks
The Bucks built the company and the scene from which it came. Without them being the guys who helped people get paid on the Indies, there's no Elite. No Elite, no AEW.

Remember when Brandon Cutler got pissy at JR on the twitters over a comment JR made about everyone so obviously standing in the same spot for a long time waiting to catch a tope suicida? That was someone in the Elite's orbit mad at a man giving advise for improving optics on TV. Cutler took aim at a man who signed some of pro wrestling's biggest stars. Right or wrong, we currently have a version of the Klique in AEW and most of them are from the west coast. It is what it is. People can be pissed at Punk for airing it out but he isn't the first nor will be the last in the business to air some shit out.
yeah, I think this is whats happening, theres an obvious divide in the company and AEW should consider changing up the power structure or at least let the talent talk and sort themselves out with supervision of course.
@@renderinghues true, its always peppered in multi-men matches and its mostly unconvincing in most matches.
This doesn't make sense because Cutler was immediately pressured to delete that tweet and he was removed from that match as punishment. Right afterwards is also when they changed his gimmick from D&D master to obnoxious Elite goon.
You know the Bucks & Kenny recently have been some of the only guys to do that spot correctly.
The Bucks against (maybe in the triple threat?) we’re on the outside, Nick runs over and moves Matt out of the way to a different area, then the other team launches a tope and hits them.
Kenny recently just moved against Ospreay, looked dead at the camera, and said “you think I was just going to stand there?!”
@@renderinghues Agreed. & I'm right there with you - Guys like Ospreay and Fenix are a delight to watch. But yeah, the standing spots are ridiculous, and sometimes like say on AEW PPVs we might see them not just 3-4 times a night, but 3-4x a MATCH. Especially during certain Young Bucks matches or a match with 2-3 highflyers... Those long-spots need to go, they just look so setup & fake that it makes me cringe.

The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega will have CM Punk fighting Haku in a street fight next week, biting encouraged.
I heard Punk and Ace Steel went Double Dragon on the Bucks and Omega.
I'm not even sure wtf is a work or a shoot anymore. Goddamn if it ain't fascinating regardless
Yep bottom line is it's got everybody talking.
There's no way Meltzer, Alvarez, Tony Khan, The Bucks, Omega, and Page could ever make a work this convincing. None of them have that level of restraint.
If it's was real, TK would've fired Ace Steel and probably suspended Punk. I don't think TK have the guts to fired Punk. Steel should be breaking up the fight, not joining the fight.
Sounds to me like this is what AEW wanted Punk for. Wall to wall coverage in every wrestling publication. He has built about a year's worth of feuds in one press conference. Tony is on record saying he thinks Cornette has some valid points, and it's no surprise they seem to be leaning into that to make a story out of it. Punk heavily hinted almost everything Cornette has said. There is money in feuds that appear genuine. Punk has built hype almost on a level of the original WWE pipe bomb.
I wasn't sure at first til two things:
He called them like a bunch of nobody's playing with their friends in Reseda...something Cornette says verbatim all the time...and the way he was eating directly into the microphone the whole time. That was such a "heel" mannerism to throw into the promo...just...chewing directly into the microphone and talking with his mouth full the entire time? Great touch.
Could be. The fact Tony was oblivious to all this because he didnt had his phone is one of the lamest excuses ever
Punk and Khan are equally pathetic for different reasons.
I'm not sure this is the way to do it. i don't think it's a work and to me it's just going to piss people off in the end with one side leaving wether that be Punk or the Bucks/Omega

You have one side that plays nice to everybody’s face and just does passive aggressive stuff when no one is looking, and another that is constantly looking for a fight over real and imagined slights everywhere he goes. This was inevitable. I just find it amusing that anyone can find one side to be blameless in this whole thing.
Oh thank god I’m not alone. Thank you for the reasonable take that used an ounce of forethought.
Yeah I mean even if none of the The Elite actually said a word to anyone about it you know Punk would still have had this bubbling anger inside him just because he knows that they are friends with Colt and would know they don't like him. And you could tell that punk knew full well that whatever he chose to say, tony would not step in and shut him up or at least redirect the questions/conversation. This is why he should just do what he does with his American Football and REAL football teams and let people who know what the hell they're doing and can actually command the respect of the locker room handle things. Grow up Tony! Stop playing at being a boss and just hire a damn booker and talent relations guy.

Some1 DID leak that CM Punk got Colt Cabana reassigned to ROH and Tony Khan had to say that wasn't the case. So who leaked that lie? The wrestling media picked it up and ran with it. Cornette has been cooking The Elite for years but yall are mad at Punk? There's two sides to every story. Hobbs got the win a lot of people wanted at All Out. Hobbs was one of the first people Punk worked with and he praised Punk for his assistance and advice backstage. Both sides have there supporters, but I see many interviews with talent praising TK and other vets backstage and it's never The Elite! One things for sure, controversy creates cash and people will tune in like they did they past two weeks.
@The Baddestman Punk says it's not the case and Khan says it's not the case. Whether or not you believe them is up to you but let's take Punk out of the equation for a moment. Was Cabana actually doing anything of note in AEW? No. He wasn't in line for any kind of big push even before Punk got there. So purely from the point of view of managing rosters it makes absolute sense to move him to ROH.
To your point about talent praising TK and other vets - I notice the same thing - I do believe there's a side of the AEW locker room that sees "The Elite" guys merely as jackoffs who only help themselves and their friends & then I think there's another side of the AEW locker room that is pissed off or jealous that ex-WWE guys are getting both more TV time or more pay. The rest of the locker room is indifferent and just does their job. But I see that as two major sides colliding moving forward.
If you want to see how much love The Elite get, all you gotta do is watch current episodes of BTE and see how many AEW wrestlers outside a select few, no longer appear on that show.
Bryan and Dave are friends with the Bucks, so of course they're gonna pin everything 100% on the Punk just like the Bucks, I mean their super secret sources in AEW, tell them.
The first stories to do with Cabana also said that it was the Young Bucks who supposedly “saved” Cabanas career…

Decent report but Dave completely whiffed on the "guys don't want to listen to me" bit. He (Punk) referred specifically to Hangman doing an outside interview where he said he "doesn't listen to advice". In 1999 - 2000 era WCW. There was politicking in the back. Nash was made Booker. He put his guys over. Then Vince Russo came in and blurred the lines. He had his younger talent he wanted over. So he pushed guys like Billy Kidman, Jeff Jarrett, Vampiro etc ... but the guys in the back were happy to see Hogan, Sting, Hall and Nash on the card even though they never got opportunities to be at the top of the card. Why? Even the buried talent knew and respected the fact the Hogan's and the Nash's and the Stings drew money. And when these PPVs sell out. It meant more money in their pockets.
It seems the AEW talent don't respect those who came before that are there to draw the crowds and viewers that in the end make them money. They think they are the draw when in reality ... they are not. Proof being the ratings drops while Punk was out nursing his foot.

All while the Bucks and Omega are doing their best to sully Punk's name and possibly get him fired. These stories and the way they are reported on are examples of why our media is fucking horrible. It was so obvious that the "elite" were the ones leaking the stories about Punk wanting to leave a few weeks ago yet I don't see them getting criticized like Punk is. The 'elite' are bigger locker room cancers than Punk could ever be.
Get rid of the Bucks, they offer nothing in the way of possibly increasing the AEW audience. Punk told the truth and unless they ganged up on him he wouldn't have any issue taking out any Buck at any time.
Yeah, they only STARTED the whole thing. They are not important. WOW!!!
This is very simple. The EVP’s and Hangman were the focus of AEW and now they are not. The WWE signings (not just Punk) have stolen their thunder and they are upset.
The problem is Punk throwing name without providing a proof just like the rumor of him making Colt Cabana lose his job. He was the ones that start talking about it publicly and now he doing the same to the evp.
The way I see it, punk when heel and targeted the evp and AEW hardcore fan that has good memories about PWG. I feel like he was piss at Omega promo the first night that said aew will continue to provide match of every variety and said aew is not for tribute match.
Yep, finally someone nailed the exact issue. Tony created a problem with his expensive new toys versus his cheaper old ones.
FTR has totally outperformed the Bucks.
How they are upset?? Why?? Punk is literally swinging jabs in the air like the drunk uncle at christmas trying to ruin everyone's party by his own. All this situation started out of a microscopical issue that he turned into complete chaos by himself. If this is not a work, he's just a complete manchild with his head tucked up his ass.
The same thing happened in WCW, where they held back young talent for too long. The Bucks and Omega also aren't much younger than Hogan/Hall/Nash at the point their joined WCW. By the time they started pushing younger talent like Benoit and Booker T to the main card, it was already too late. It's not late for AEW, but this is definitely a teaching moment. The Bucks have been reluctant to let FTR go over, even though they are having their best year on record. There are also plenty of younger up and comers like MJF who look like promising main eventers. AEW has the recipe for success, they just need to not be their own worst enemies.
The drama backstage entertaining people more than the product is an awful sign. TK looks weak right now, questionable leadership is not exactly going to get advertisers excited.

The comment that bothered me personally the most is how some young talent are not sitting down and listening to some of the best minds wrestling has to offer. If you don’t wanna learn and you aren’t getting better, they should be let go.
I know somewhere Hangman said he's the type to like to fail so he can truly learn from mistakes and get better. Bryan and Regal were hosting in ring lessons before he got hurt. Jade and Velvet took park and Jade saw some improvement. I think what Hangman said was a little blown up. But Regal and Bryan made it a point to say there ring practices are open to whoever wants to be there at 11am at the arena. No phones. old school. SOME show up.
Didn’t he say it was just hangman not talking advice?
It was that dumbass Hagman. Pretty sure the part about MJF was a work but I can't be certain anymore
@@TerrelLism here’s the issue with that. You only take in so much of your mistakes other mistakes will go unchecked. You need those great minds. You need the advice they’ll give you so you can grow and become a better version of yourself. That’s what Adam fails to understand.
This is why I scratched my head at people like William regal leaving WwE ( to go to aew) the man is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge on what to do/ not to do (along with mark Henry, Paul wright, sting,Chris jericho all of who worked at wcw) and in this current situation would be willing to circle the wagon around tony and offer good advice which is needed right now
Tony did have his phone on him. He texted Jericho prior to him coming out.
It started with Cody. It's all starting to really become apparent now.
Some people thought Cody was a fool to leave. Now, he's probably going to become a world champ over there while AEW's stars eat each other.

@@MachtPlays It was Jim Ross, Billy Gunn and Arn.
What these older guys don't understand is that maybe all their advice isn't actually worth listening to. Wrestling is a constantly evolving artform. Sure there are plenty of things to learn from previous generations of artists, but you also have to be willing to throw some of that away and embrace what you're ready to offer. Sometimes these older guys give out of touch advice and the younger dudes don't take it. Just look at how JR tried to convince TK that Orange Cassidy wasn't going to work. Then he went on to become one of their most over wrestlers and biggest merch movers. Being experienced doesn't mean you always know what's best.
It’s a narrow minded point of view to disregard the advice of the people who toured 345 days a year multiple times a week by a rental car getting paid shit- these guys did that so the next generation had an easier time. And Punk didn't like that EVPs sided with Hangman or Colt or both to some extent unknown...
I think Punk is more old school which is why there is so much friction with him and certain people at AEW backstage. I'm currently training as a wrestler, and while I haven't seen any backstage altercations, I have met wrestlers who have different mentalities of how wrestling works. For example, Acid Jaz was trained at Windy City Wrestling, same place CM Punk was trained. He is WAY more stiff in the ring than any other wrestler I've met in the ring so far. Some people like getting chopped like me, others will threaten to punch you in the face if you even ATTEMPT a chop.
its almost like DIFFERENT PEOPLE DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY. thats not a wrestling thing or an "old school" thing bud.
So apparently CM Punk is being the New Hulk Hogan
Yeah, he's popular and draws money.
TK has to remind people he's the boss and stop letting his employees walk all over him.
That's exactly what Punk was trying to get him to do. If you payed attention to what he said, Punk wants Tony and AEW to succeed. The EVPs want their comedy acrobat buddies to succeed (putting them over, of course).

I believe he had nothing to do with it. Colt Cabana wasn't used much before Punk came in. Why? He isn't a major star. He is an Indie darling who was made for indie shows in high school gyms. He is a dark match type of guy. That has nothing to do with CM Punk. It is entirely Colt Cabana's doing.
As for the Young Bucks as EVPs. They need to go. Their interests are their own and for their friends. Not for the betterment of AEW. Tony Kahn should have realized this when Cody Rhodes jumped ship.
If the Young Bucks want to leave if they get demoted. Let them go. They still have the best tag team in Wrestling with FTR. The very team the Young Bucks seem hell bent on burying in my opinion.

It's not as if Kenny is coding the game. We're talking about Yukes working with THQ. They don't need Kenny to make a wrestling game.

Yeah it annoys me when people say "Kenny is developing the game", no, he's not! He's consulting with Yukes. Or "Kenny had FTR removed because he's friends with the Bucks!" that's not how that works. Yukes has to get a sign-off from the legal department that has to go through business management (which includes Tony Khan) in order to add/remove anyone from the game, whether it be to likeness issues, copyright, music, or branding. Kenny can't add or take anyone out of the game if he tried, he has ZERO power in that regard because he isn't developing anything, and has no say over the legal/copyright elements.
@@billywashere6965 no argument there. It is turning into a bit of a white elephant though. The 10 million budget has blown right out. Apparently it's over 80 now. Maybe wasn't the best idea to go down this path of starting their own gaming division.
