Just let Bryan finish his fucking point THEN chime in with your incoherent rambling. His role is a color commentator, but he tries being the play-by-play guy. At this point, he should stick to writing.
Dave is obviously all-in with AEW -- which is fine -- but a true journalist cannot also wear blinkers when there are inconvenient truths to talk/write about......and he has been in the ultra-fast spin zone so much over the past couple years that his equilibrium has to be destroyed.
And then proceeds to defend the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega as usual, without even giving a shred of credence to the possibility that they have any part in this. As far as I'm concerned, the company did fine when Omega was on the shelf and they'll do fine without him or the Bucks. Dave just can't get his smoocher off their asses for any length of time.

Yeah but since they had independent executives present to witness the whole thing, it seems incredibly strange that they would strip the titles from everyone if they are innocent in the situation. The fact they stripped everyone means that nobody is in the clear pretty much.

Which completely backs up Punk's claim that the Elite have been balls deep in wrestling reporter's. We've only been getting their side FOR A LONG TIME. I'm not a Punk defender tho. Dude acted like an asshole.
I think his lips are surgically attached to the Bucks and Omegas asses. He fails to mention Cody as one of the founders. In the States and to the networks Cody and mainly the Rhodes name helped to legitimize AEW. Also without Jericho the buzz wouldn't have been what it was.
Why have you commented on 6 different saying the same thing about dave interrupting, it's weird, unless you're Alvarez it's strange you're so invested in such an innocuous human behavior
Well you like the elite or not this is probably a true statement as I've seen first-hand in the industry of shopping in food Giants and Walmarts does not easy at all to be managers of such facilities in fact most time it sucks
I thought they handled it well in terms of the show they put on last night. MJF not mentioning certain things, Mox giving a passionate promo, Jericho bringing some comedic relief and alluding to looking after the locker room and then some great matches that focused on young and key talent. This whole thing has been depressing and we're all far from having closure but I think Dynamite was a good indication of how strong the rest of the roster can be in a crisis. The AEW that dealt with Brodies passing in such a wonderful way is the AEW I love and that I want to see emerge from the other side of this mess. *Edit: I'm in no way comparing Brodies passing to this mess. I just think that situation showed us what AEW could be and that kind of unity should be the goal in the future.*
100% agree,i to love AEW, it saved my wrestling fandom at a time when WWE went so bad it became totally unwatchable. The respect they showed Brodie and his family was a shining example of what a company with such a passionate fan base both us and the locker room love this crazy business. One day it’s going to have be addressed, either on TV or podcast but with the investigations ongoing nows not the time. Off subject i wish Best Friends and Orange had of won the trio’s belts
Punk directly asked Meltzer what did he ever do to deserve the Bucks and Page bad mouthing him and Meltzer totally froze..now he is awfully chatty after he was told what to say by the Bucks. So fucking embarrassing
Gotta agree, Dave getting the Bucks and Kenny's side of the story out there to save face. its pretty clear both sides were in the wrong and both sides deserve to be suspended.
At least he is consistent, and how can you cross the guys that had you over for dinner? None of what is happening on either side of this should shock anyone.
11 minutes in and Dave is rambling about the TV deal Tony did or didnt have in 2018? Then he talks about how much WCW made? Dave, what are you talking about man???

He ran down so many people in front of his boss. His rant about cabana and his mother when no one ever mentioned him was shocking. Punk buried him self. Never saw the bucks or omega say anything in public. Paige I dunno he's acting weird.
Not defending Punk but isn’t Dave doing exactly what Punk said the dirt sheets reporting favorably for the elite and controlling the narrative making it anti punk
Felt the same. Even having Sammy and Darby in the tournament. The guys who were once seen as the future guys but took a bit of a backseat to other people coming in . The whole world title tournament bracket is all OG AEW stars aside from Danielson
Jericho and Mox are the absolute backbone and heart of AEW, they always have the companies back when needed and it's never been more apparent. They deserve all the credit in the world
And they definitely both have a rep for sometimes getting emotional, or even hot-head and confrontational. The difference is they also see the big picture and seem to understand when and how to let those frustrations bubble over in a way that won't hurt or embarrass the company.
He brought up the Colt story cause he had all of you media guys in the room and the media has been gossiping about how it was Punk that got Colt kicked off of AEW. So he felt the need to address it face to face and squash it, because as he said, he’s been eating shit about it for a while. Could he have been the bigger man? Sure. Did he have to go as far as he did with the moms bank account and stuff? No. But it’s Punk. Buy the ticket take the ride. If he gets to the point where he has to speak on it, it aint gunna be pretty

Listening to Dave Meltzer ramble on like that is making me question my sanity. If you want information he's the the guy to ask but you'd better not expect a clear answer, or any answer for that matter.
Something's not right. Ever since he started handing out 5 stars plus to average Bucks and Omega matches, he's been sliding into a weird place. He makes so little sense in everything he says and does.
@@NL-fg6it He’s always been bad but these last few years it’s gotten insufferable. I used to listen to WOR daily back in 2014, I can barely sit through a 7 minute clip now.
Not shocked Meltzer is batting for his boys. Punk may be a prick but he’s an honest prick. The Elite are just as bad as Punk on the topic of being power hungry in the wrestling business, the best example of that is putting the Trio titles on themselves.
not when he has to defend his boys kenny & the young bucks. basically a 30 minute rant about the bucks being great, being awesome evps, how everyone should wrestle like the bucks and how punk has been trying to destroy aew. Dave doesn't want to lose his 3 buddies who leak him all the aew news true or made up.
I actually like Omega and The Bucks, but this argument that Dave keeps making is absurd. Apparently wrestling has changed, and The Elite are the only ones on Earth who understand how modern-day wrestling works according to Dave. Punk apparently doesn't know how modern-day wrestling works, even though he's drawn the highest ratings, PPV buyrates, and ticket sales in AEW history.
Don’t forget merchandise sales, go look at the AEW shop and see who’s selling what for the week, for the month, for the year. Punk is delivering when it comes to the bank. He could’ve been wrong on all sorts of things, but the idea that he’s not making money is both weird and silly at the same time.

Tony Khan is the sole reason AEW exists. It’s his money and commitment. Cody, Jericho, the Jackson’s, Omega, Moxley all played their part. But acting like the Bucks are brilliant revolutionaries who are architects is ridiculous.
He's the most important party by a mile. But he was a wrestling fanatic and the son of a multi-billionaire for his whole life. He only started a company once the Elite created a built-in audience that could be counted on to support a new company. To say nothing of the relationships they cultivated for years with independent talent that was used to build a roster. TK is by far more important but it doesn't happen without both parties.
@@stevenmurphy2782 Yes really... Punk started all this shit. After the match he knew he was hurt and was pissed and decided to nuke the company from orbit on his way out. Mission accomplished! @@jakesanders269 there's obviously a problem in the locker room. punk was wrong to call it out at a press conference but that's something that can be dealt with, that didn't nuke the company, the bucks decision to go into his locker room blew this up beyond what it should have been. there are plenty of egos in this, not just punk's. if this is treated properly it just brings more eyes on AEW.
It's almost as if Uncle Dave doesn't realize that these things are part of a larger picture. Punk doesn't care if someone shares a bank account with their mother in isolation but he cares when he countersues you and gets an email begging to drop the whole thing when discovery shows that his mom will be involved. Punk may not care that much if Adam Page went into business for himself in isolation but when he does it under the pretext of Colt Cabana at the exact same time news stories come out that Punk got Colt fired then it's a BIG f@$king issue. Punk and Cabana are basically the same as a couple that ended in a bitter divorce in terms of potential heat and everything went south when Colt's contract wasn't renewed.
@Art School Reject yeah the kind of guy who pays your legal fees and then you decide to get yourself your own lawyers and expect punk to pay for it. and when he tells you too fuck off try and sue him. and only dropped the lawsuit when punks lawyers wanted cabana & his mums bank accounts.
You guys should change the channel name to Y.B.P.A ( Young Bucks Protection Agency ) you’ve said very little about how the bucks abused their power as EVPS and they were more in the wrong for confronting punk when he was clearly pissed
Tell me exactly how the Bucks abused their authority? By going to reprimand the guy who just publicly embarrassed the whole company by airing personal grievances to the media? That’s not abusing their authority, that is literally their jobs as executives of the company.
Dave, you have attended numerous UFC press conferences where the fighters talk shit about the company or Dana. This happens regularly. I'm sure Dave isn't going to read TH-cam comments but come on lol. Punk clearly felt his media coverage has been unfair and when Hangman goes off script to and claims Punk is the reason someone lost a job when that person already sued him. Surely, adding this context would've been useful? Then we have Dave stating Bucks paved the way. Cody, Bucks and Kenny played a huge role but you can't have EVPs storm/walk into a personal locker room of guy who already critiqued on them few minutes back. Unfortunately Dave sounded like he was picking a side whereas Bryan Alvarez has been careful to be as neutral as possible.
He has his side, it's clear as water. Always was. I can listen but I can spot when you're not being neutral or you're trying to follow a certain narrative.
Its not the same. UFC fighters careers are super short and they don't have to be okay with company decisions. They just need to get in the ring and fight. It doesn't matter what they think of the company cause them walking out or not fighting means nothing, whereas wrestling is dependent on people agreeing to decisions in the back and losing a fight to someone they may not like. Stop excusing Punk because Hangman once said a line that no one knew referred to Colt. Punk was a child seating at home being mad that Hangman said something three months ago and then decided to go after the founders of the company, the soul of the company. Because Punk only cares about what is good for Punk and once he got his fill of AEW and their benefit to him he will walk away without caring what happens or how much he buried the talent in the back on the way there. He ruined his own story with MJF because he couldn't keep his personal issues to himself. Who cares what wrestling media says? What are you a child? I really hoped for some objectivity from Dave and Bryan on this story, but the former in particular is very blatantly siding with Kenny and the Bucks here. Always enjoy insights from these two (even when a 1-minute point takes Dave about 15), but there's no empathy with Punk and the frustration he must have felt going into that press scrum. Maybe if Dave had their legion of fans blaming him for Colt Cabana's shortcoming, he'd be pissed too. 🤷♂
Dave has massively put over Punk's side, but the fact is you can't do what he did. The Bucks and Kenny should be punished as well, but Punk is a miserable fuck who has a complex
Ace Steel committed two class 3 misdemeanours. If the State's Attorney is a prick, that's probation, maybe jail time. Dave is giving him the benefit of the doubt and he's still biased? Genuinely, you need to examine your own biases before accusing others.

How can Meltzer/Alvarez and Wrestling Observer have any credibility on this story? They are very much involved in the whole thing, are close friends with the Elite and simply cannot be objective. At no point here have either of them ever considered Punk’s side to it, that the Elite may have behaved inappropriately as well, and that they certainly did not start AEW from nothing. Khan’s billions may have played a part and the signing of major, non-indie talent bringing in a wider audience. Also I think Cody’s contributions in the early days are totally forgotten now. But none of that is acknowledged by these “journalists”.
Meltzer explicitly cites 'Punk's side' of the story several times, not just in this video but throughout his entire coverage. As friendly as they are with the Elite, they realize they weren't there. It's possible both 'sides' are wrong and a third party will eventually tell the more accurate story.
This BS shows you have not listened at all. Meltzer explicitly stated that Punk and his side are giving their account of things while The EVP's are giving their side of things. At no point has he ever stated one side as fact. Also, He has readily stated that he was not there. He has also publicly and empthatically stated that Punk's claim that the EVP's leaked info to him was completely false. Fianlly, he has reported Punk's side of things several times. In the Punk/Steel version, The Young Bucks went to Punk’s locker room after he finished at the presser. He didn’t answer when they knocked, as he was wiped out from his match with Jon Moxley during the PPV and the “emotional” scrum. So Matt & Nick Jackson pounded on the door, and eventually “kicked the door down.” Ace’s wife was in the room. According to Wrestling Observer, Mrs. Steel has a broken foot and was watching Punk’s dog Larry (who will be a key figure in the other side’s account). Concern for his wife is what set Steel off, reportedly throwing a chair at Nick and biting Kenny Omega. Interestingly, Fightful’s write-up of this side does say that Omega was initially calm until things got out of hand. The entire scene was “very long,” and included a heated verbal exchange even after the men were physically separated. In the Elite version, The Bucks went to talk to Punk, “just like he told them to” (he’s said some variation of “if you have a problem with me, I’m not hard to find” on multiple occasions). They didn’t barge in, but as soon as they entered the room, before anyone said a word, Punk threw punches aimed for Matt Jackson’s head. Nick tried to intervene, which is when Steel threw the chair at him, hitting the younger Buck in the head. Omega is also calm in this account, and was said to primarily be worried about Larry, who was agitated and barking. Kenny took Punk’s dog out of the room and tried to get Steel off of Nick, which is when Ace pulled his hair and bit him. This telling of events agrees that the war of words continued after the violence ended, but claims Punk repeatedly threatened legal action during the shouting portion of the fight. P.S. Meltzer is pretty one sided in favor of the Bucks for some reason. Barely heard "there are faults on boths sides." Just an observation. Lastly, Meltzer, stop cutting people off, especially before you have a complete thought. That is all.

Dave’s ability to interrupt without having a fully thought out point is unprecedented
An annoying quality.

I can listen but I can spot when you're not being neutral or you're trying to follow a certain narrative.
Its not the same. UFC fighters careers are super short and they don't have to be okay with company decisions. They just need to get in the ring and fight. Tony APOLOGIZING to Punk while Punk's just running it down makes it feel like he has no control over the situation.
He pulled rank by suspending everyone and vacating the titles.
@@THEATTKID After the damage was done....

But isn’t it sad that a grown man has to tell other grown men to get along or be civil? And who knows what he did, maybe he had conversations and no one listened. Maybe he didn’t think it was that intense. Who knows but from this incident I hope Tony has learned a lot.

Why did you listen then?
This BS shows you have not listened at all. Meltzer explicitly stated that Punk and his side are giving their account of things while The EVP's are giving their side of things. At no point has he ever stated one side as fact. Also, He has readily stated that he was not there. He has also publicly and empthatically stated that Punk's claim that the EVP's leaked info to him was completely false. Fianlly, he has reported Punk's side of things several times. At no time did Meltzer ever state that the EVP's were innocent. They have plenty of credibility and have reported this fairly. YOu are a PUnk mark mad that he refuses to claim Punk's story to be fact.
@@PepsiMan666 They also have stated they weren't there publicly not to mention that he also reported that AEW Head of Legal witnessed it and her account will be the decider.
ps Punk has not brought in a wider audience. The AEW's viewership is is exactly the same now with Punk as it was before Punk got there. Also, as Dave stated, Tony was not going to start the company without The Bucks and Omega.
And here was me thinking journalism was supposed to be unbiased.
Also, speaks volumes to the professional history of both people and wrestling as a whole that they don't know how suspensions and investigations work in an actual company. Mind-blowing.

The Young Bucks didn't build shit. They ran a couple of indie shows. Tony Khan built the company.
Remove the EVP titles and give them to former wrestlers, actually qualified people.
The Elite need to know that this isn't their company, it's Tony's. So unless Kenny is going to go marry Tony's undiscovered daughter and play the long game, they should cut the Kliq 2.0 bullshit.
Pathetic the way Meltzer and Alvarez take up for their crew the Cucamonga Kids Club...they can do no wrong
not hard to do when cm punk is such a prick.
Omega and the Bucks could have gone in swinging sledgehammers, and Meltzer would still be blaming Punk for the situation. And he'd probably give the formers a 5 star review.

Typical media. They create the "news" then pass the blame off.
Come on, we all know Dave is really really really really really neutral. He’s not biased at all man. How could you ever come to that conclusion? It’s not like his website ran an article about the scrum in which they literally removed Dave’s name from the quotation by Punk.
It was reported by several outlets that many believed Punk was responsible for Colt being fired. That means someone started that rumor. They have worked the same show since Punk joined AEW, so they truly don’t give a fuck about what each other do as long as they don’t have to interact, but someone started that rumor. It’d make sense that it was someone close to Colt that started it, so it’s not a stretch to say it was someone associated with the Elite. They could have started that rumor and still not have directly told the media that it was Punks fault. It could have made its way around so much that it’s super hard to track down the source.
Yupppp. They are to blame for a lot of these issues by reporting rumors instead of actual facts. Like right now the investigation is going on but they still feel entitled to know what’s going on or what actually happened.
Dude why does suddenly wrestlers care what is said in wrestling media about them? Why do they suddenly care instead of just burying them as they always do? Its a joke that Punk got mad at media. You're 42, get your shit together

Face it, pal. Vince wasnt as respected as WWE has conditioned you to believe..At least no wrestler has ever put their hands on Tony
Yes. It is very weird to me that people think there is no learning curve for Tony. Like, Vince just invented a successful promotion out of thin air.
@@Nostalgia9478 You do realize you are only coming with two incidents in 40 years of being the boss. Tony has been around for 3. Come back with that point in about 20 years, and it might have relevance.
Something specifically like this would never have happened under Vince because he would never have been a mark and an idiot, and named a bunch of active "wrestlers" as VP's. Vince never even had an active wrestler booking for him. The office and the boys were always separate.
And I am certainly not a WWF honk. I stopped watching that promotion in 1998. I just live in reality, not spin world.
I didn't get the whole "he shares a bank account with his mother" thing as if Cabana was living off Mom rather than sharing an account to take care of her. I'm sure that he did tell Punk let's stop all this (because now the lawyers are coming after my Mom), but it's not quite as sinister as it was made to be. That tells you all you need to know about CM Punk.
Punk has a restraining order on his mom. His brother stole from him. His dad was a raging drunk. He doesn’t know what a healthy relationship looks like.
The first time maybe, but the second time he mentioned it was definitely supposed to be derogatory.
Exactly, Punk insults a man for taking care of his mother just because he doesn’t take care of his. I’m sure Colt did some asshole things but that’s just about the only valiant thing he’s ever done lol.
The reporter didn't even bring up Cabana, Punk did.
Exactly, I was thinking the same thing. It's a funny line but in all actuality, Colts probably taking care of his mom

@@shadyhavok1 he used to not speak like that, something happened to his brain like a couple of years ago. There are recordings of dave from 20 years ago, he used to be normal.
It's sad a man Dave's age is such a simp for the "cool kids" he want's to be one of them so bad. He'll excuse anything they do. Getting a pop doing things wrong to an audience of 20 drunk people at an indie show doesn't mean you're over or successful. Some of these people got where they are because they are friends with the 4 stooges that suckered Tony into making them "EVPs". If it wasn't for their influence on Tony a lot of them would still be working backyards and High school gyms.
