What a wild week Ace Steel has had. from being an unknown employee, cutting the best promo of your life, to biting Kenny Omega and most likely losing your job.
Ace Steele has an AEW contract so it depends on how much time is left on his contract. Remember that Tony Khan doesn’t fire people, he lets their contract run out and then he ghosts them. He has a big, bloated roster because he won’t fire anyone
I totally zone out when Dave rambles on and on. Next thing I know I've just listened to a 20 minute video and can't even really remember if anything of significance was said.
@@BabysitterSky I think HHH and Steph will have trouble managing WWE, albeit for very different reasons. Im quite sure they'll be tough on their workers. But Im not sure they'll be able to manage a multi-billion dollar company. Luckily, in their case, they have Nick Khan to help.
@@GQFJB I thought so too because it’s wrestling. I don’t think the young bucks take anything serious enough to do something like this. They don’t know how to be serious, only smarmy little smart asses who want to get their friends paid. I’m not saying punks right if it’s real, but the elite only want to get their fiends paid, not start a serious company.
I think it’s a dig at the EVP’s as well. Punk is doing greater business than the Elite and drawing incredible money, meanwhile the EVP’s are playing telephone.
I can't believe that TK didn't shut those stupid Colt Cabana rumors down with a simple press release and a meeting between the goofball elite and Punk. Punk kept quiet for months and then let it all out
But Luke, it's not TK's company, it's CM Punk's! Did you not hear Punk say "I'm trying to run a business"? Tony Khan is in no position to tell his boss what to do. (I'm kidding of course, but maybe the company might as well belong to Punk given everything that he's gotten away with.)
This is the reason I hate shoot promos. They always end up petty, full of angry people and no money in the long term. Stop feeding the smarks and get on with the program.
No. That is not how it started. Punk was fishing for somebody to say Colt Cabana. He went to 1 journalist he knew had a relationship with Cabana. And set him up. Punk asked the guy, "You still freestyle?". Or some nonsense. The Jounalist said, "Not in a long time". Punk then followed up with, "Who did you used to do that with?". The Journalist said, "Colt Cabana". Then Punk said, "Is he your friend?" ... and then Punk used that as a way to bring up the whole Colt bashing. So Punk had it planned from the start. Planned because of a shoot? Or planned because he now had a forum to get it off of his chest once and for all.
Many people like Punk, and he makes his living talking, but anyone who has been around real people in the real world can see how fugazi he is at times. He name-dropped Kingston in this rant again, mentioned Eric Bischoff for some reason, and dragged Adam Cole's name in it, trying to sound optimistic about him but knowing who he is friends with.
Well, if it is real and negatively affects their business, I hope the people that like this sort of thing are very entertained. If this costs them in the long run, I hope the people cheering it on don't start crying and making up conspiracy theories about what went wrong.
You can really see why old school promoters kept loyal shooters on standby in case they needed to get belts off people ASAP. People who have been unprofessional and may not cooperate.

@@marti5420 exactly. Punk literally buried the whole company. TK should have used the opportunity of Punk losing to Mox to move away from the Punk as champ project. Seeing a neutered TK sit next to Punk as he absolutely murdered the Bucks and Hangman with a live mic was phenomenal. My favorite moment was when he was CLEARLY texting Jericho to get the hell in there, please. Not sure how you ever show your face in that locker room again lmao.
No matter who's "side" you are on all eyes are on TK, especially by those in the locker room. If he does nothing he loses respect and loyalty from his workers. Both respect and loyalty were in question before this, that is likely now more than in question than previously.
Amen. Rather what comes out. Tony fostered the environment, rather he believes it or not. He let multiple people walk all over him, including punk now. Hes gotta doing something to show HE runs the show. If he holds back for ratings, or buy rates, or whatever BS...than hes no better than bishoff

That’d be like if a political commentator told the incumbent they were interviewing that they always vote for them. Just cringe.
For all of Vince McMahon's shortcomings, and I would be the first to point most of them out, he did have an understanding about having to have some control over the locker room, because it is the wild west and this is what happens when the promoter is more concerned about being everybody's friend. Tony better get a handle on this in a hurry because this is becoming a widespread issue for AEW.
80s Vince actually *wanted* the guys to be at each other's throats in the locker room, because it was his main strategy to keep them from forming a union like Jesse Venture wanted to do. Hogan was his main shit-stirrer / snitch, and that's how Hogan became the master politician that he did.
Vince was notorious for buddying up to the wrestlers and he let the clique run roughshod over him in the 90s. He only became a hardass in the 2000s when there was no competition for them to go to and he got too old to want to hang with the boys anymore. TK looked awful at the presser and lacks experience but he'd handled in-house issues fine until now. Even Vince could only handle Punk for so long.
So if they fire Ace Steel, Punk probably quits. The EVPs already threatened to walk so imagine what would happen if they get punished in some way. But then Eddie Kingston got suspended for way less! How do you punish him but not these top-tier guys?? What. A. Mess.
So punish everybody? and let the police figure the rest out re: charges. The EVPs already pushed out Cody with the same tactics, but unlike Cody, Punk won’t take it, certainly not quietly, and can’t go back (probably) to WWE.
@@lamelama22 Cody has stated very clearly and often that he has no issue with Kenny and the Bucks. They are still friends and on good terms. We don't know what the issue was, but it was with TK. As for the problems with Punk, there are multiple reports that young and low card talent can't stand Punk and that he treats them like dirt. I wasn't there so I don't know what all the facets of the issues are. It is every bit as likely that Page was standing up for the locker room and/or the EVPs were trying to be locker room leaders and deal with a wrestler who has become an issue. Or they could just not like him. We don't know and all of the he said/she said won't figure it out. What I do know is that many people have claimed Punk acted like a jerk in ROH. We all saw the issues Punk was involved with in WWE. If the same thing keeps happening to one person over and over again then the overwhelming likelihood is that they are the issue.
@@rriggs6547 Cody is very political, he's not gonna say much. The Bucks and Omega are 100% a problem in that company. Punk is just the guy who didnt take their shit or was afraid of getting fired.

Instead, we have Punk who has been known for being at the center of similar issues in multiple other promotions. I don't know what really happened, but the patterns suggest the root of the problem is most likely Punk. But that doesn't mean it definitely is or that I am not willing to change my mind given evidence. To this point there isn't enough evidence to make a definitive statement. There is enough evidence to show where people should start looking.
Tony is totally not going to punish Punk. Given all the shit he pulled recently, he knows he has Tony by the balls. Steel will be the fall guy, and I doubt anything else will come of it.
I think you are right.Punk is one of the few that bring in any sort of numbers and he paid him big money. He might keep him off TV for a week but thats about it.Punk will quit over all of this before he gets fired.I wonder if it came down to it who would Tony keep,Punk or the Bucks,Page and Omega? Punk is awefully popular but is getting up there and will get another injury.Money talks in the end.Oh yea.Scrooge McDuck is awesome.
If he punishes Punk he has to punish the Bucks and Kenny too. Nobody is blameless in this situation. Punk is a ratings driver and the Bucks and Kenny are EVPs so Tony is going to have to find a way to sort it out. I don't envy his position though he is partly to blame because he should have addressed the Cabana rumours as soon as they started to spread but he didn't.
He gave it 1 because punk punched one of the wimps to no comeback! And omega got it given to him as well. Imagine storming into a room mob handed and everyone finding out you didn't lay ONE FINGER on anyone.
Tbh Punk seems like the kind of guy who gets emotionally self-righteously ragey, and becomes totally impossible to deal with short of just accommodating whatever he wants/feels Not exactly someone great to work with...
There are a lot of stories. I was a fan of Punk years ago as far back as when he cashed in MITB on Jeff Hardy, and later on I loved how he called out WWE's shortcomings both in-character as part of his program with Cena, and a few years later when he was shooting on Colt Cabana's "Art Of Wrestling" podcast. I don't believe he was making up everything he said about WWE and I think there are a lot of pricks in that company (particularly the guy who recently stepped down), but I've got to remember that some of the guys who justifiably criticize WWE aren't always good people themselves. Anyway, I think it's entirely possible that Punk actually had nothing to do with Colt being moved to ROH...but it's also possible that he did, or maybe there's a third scenario like TK thinking "Uh oh, do I want to risk having these two guys who hate each other in the same locker room? Better keep them separated." (If that was what happened, then that would mean TK ended up preventing drama and possible fistfights between Punk and Colt, but created a situation where now Hangman had a problem with Punk that was perhaps even worse since it interfered with their program.) In any case, Punk didn't make the rumor about him being the reason Colt's no longer in AEW any LESS plausible. Dude says he doesn't care about his old friend while bringing Colt up completely unprompted and going on and on about him instead of, y'know, how he just won the title or something. I think maybe that would've been more relevant, but what do I know?
TK is awesome and all, but he needs to start being an actual boss and clamp down on this drama. Even if it means reprimands, nip these egos and control your roster!
My guess is the Bucks and Kenny were watching the scrum and went to confront Punk, things got heated and it all kicked off. Did the Elite go there looking for a fight or just to have words? Only they know that. DId Punk feel like he was being threatened and defend himself or did he start swinging without provocation? Only he knows that. You can see in the comments that people are taking sides and that'll happen in the AEW locker room too. Dave said he heard from neutral people but frankly that's bullshit. Nobody is neutral in those situations. People are always going to back their friends. Some will back the Elite, some will back Punk. Ultimately though, the common denominator is Cabana. This all started because Cabana was moved off AEW. Punk and Khan both say that Punk had nothing to do with that. The Elite think otherwise but let's be honest here. Take Punk out of the equation. Cabana wasn't being pushed. He wasn't a featured performer. He was just kind of there. Moving him to ROH makes a lot of sense and probably would have happened anyway whether or not Punk had a hand in it.
@@kevincantor5151 Yeah, it's too timely to be coincidental in the eyes of many people, and rightfully so. It was also the one thing everyone wondered about when Punk came in: what happens to Cabana? When Punk started moving up the ranks and Cabana was removed from television, it absolutely makde it look like Punk had him moved out of the picture, even if indirectly (i.e., Tony moving Cabana to ROH to avoid conflicts between him and Punk).
I find it a bit strange that all the talent according to these two were told not to talk to anyone because of legal issues, yet these guys seem to know from multiple sources EXACTLY what happened.
Maybe if TK had addressed this three weeks ago in that “Talent meeting” this would have been avoided. He isn’t waiting to get facts he is scared to be a legit boss. He’s had months to quell this and he’s avoided it
Tony is a people pleaser & a push over, Punk knows that which is why he felt he was able to say those things because Tony isn’t a Vince McMahon no one is scared to speak there minds around Tony like they would with a Vince McMahon.
Tony needs to sit everyone involved down to make sure they understand that everything about this has to end now AND that everyone has to serve a suspension without pay of however many weeks, AT LEAST. It doesn't fucking matter who started it, who's wrong and who's right. Everyone there played some part, and there needs to be consequences for that for the good of the entire locker room. If Punk then throws a fit and walks over being suspended, or over Steel being suspended or fired then fine, so be it. And if the Bucks or Hangman want to walk because of Punk still being around after this and pushed as a main event guy, then fine, so be it.
I see where you are coming from and I do think suspensions are in order. I don't know everything that happened or that led up to what happened. But if the reports are true that Punk has treated most of the talent like crap then the best option is to fire Punk. And still suspend everyone else because the manner things have occurred is still not acceptable. But I honestly think if Punk walks that is the end of the issue. If Omega and the Bucks walk, then a good portion of the locker room follows including Jericho, Daniels, and several high ranking people behind the scenes.
@@rriggs6547 I 100% concur! But yeah, suspensions for everyone needs to happen for the sake of building a better locker room, and working environment... And, hopefully all parties can accept that.

The title match was symbolic. Moxley, the best champion in the company history, the dude that embodies AEW, loses to Punk. Tony has put the wrong priorities for AEW. Yes grow. I just cannot fathom there being no suspensions after this. You cannot have an owner who gets stepped over like this and just expect everyone to be happy in that company.
If Kingston was suspended for two weeks for pie-facing Sammy, Punk should face the same consequences for actually throwing punches, if that's what he did.
They should suspend all parties in the short term pending an extensive inquiry, hopefully cooler heads can reconcile and prevail, with actions being taken accordingly. The situation itself is one thing, but the reaction to it by both the fans and these supposed "media insiders," the complete lack of reporting on any of these issues for months until it erupts into the public, and the absolutely limp reaction to being directly challenged is fucking embarrassing. Embarrassing. Work or shoot, it doesn't matter. This is an undisputed, unprofessional, absolute disaster. Meltzer is part of this, too. This whole scenario is incredibly shady, and has legitimately shaken my interest in the genre. These are grown ass men.
Solomonster brought up a good point: Eddie Kingston was just suspended not long ago for doing something much less than what Punk and the EVPs did. So TK is in a difficult situation of what he needs to do without showing the rest of his roster that he isn’t being biased but also he doesn’t want to upset Punk.
Ace went stiff, chewing on Omega, Hardcore chair swinging on Nick Jackson, Matt was the only acrobatics when he was folded by CM Punk with a punch like a slinky, all in all I give this 3 stars- Dave Meltzer.
Love AEW, love their product. If Punk (and probably the Elite, depending on how much they swung back,) doesn't have their titles stripped, coming after Eddie's suspension at the very least, it'll only be downhill for the company from here.
How about having a trios title match - FTR + Punk vs the Elite. This is a real wrestling company, so best way to go about this is to have them fight in ring with something heavy on the line. If Elite wins, then Omega gets a title shot, who knows, from here you could do a triple threat with MJF and have him win clean (no interference) as punishment to both Kenny and Punk.

Nailz choked Vince, and Bret knocked him out.. Great "control" of the locker room there. lol
80s Vince actually *wanted* the guys to be at each other's throats in the locker room, because it was his main strategy to keep them from forming a union like Jesse Venture wanted to do. Hogan was his main shit-stirrer / snitch, and that's how Hogan became the master politician that he did.
Enough with the revisinist history. Vince himself was in numerous fights. Jesus christ when he wasn't he was covering up rapes and murders.
Vince was notorious for buddying up to the wrestlers and he let the clique run roughshod over him in the 90s. He only became a hardass in the 2000s when there was no competition for them to go to and he got too old to want to hang with the boys anymore.

There are a lot of stories.
Better keep them separated." (If that was what happened, then that would mean TK ended up preventing drama and possible fistfights between Punk and Colt, but created a situation where now Hangman had a problem with Punk that was perhaps even worse since it interfered with their program.)
In any case, Punk didn't make the rumor about him being the reason Colt's no longer in AEW any LESS plausible.
But initially he wasn't moved to ROH. TK was in the verge of not hiring him; he only got hired becauase the Bucks intervened.

Rollins and Riddle have real life heat and were professional enough to do a whole match, explains the maturity levels between between talent.

I just cannot fathom there being no suspensions after this. If Tony Khan cannot be the responsible owner he needs to be and punish those who need to be punished, I’ll be honest it will feel like the beginning of the end of AEW. You cannot have an owner who gets stepped over like this and just expect everyone to be happy in that company.
If Kingston was suspended for two weeks for pie-facing Sammy, Punk should face the same consequences for actually throwing punches, if that's what he did.
Can’t suspend your newly crowned World champ and can’t suspend your brand new trios champs , so prob Ace is gonna do the job lol
Vince never punished brock after his scandals.
Tony will weight how much public perception will be on his side if he doesnt do anything
@@dashingdreww1185 No one will respect Tk if he does that.
Any 'EVP' who leaks info to the bloody media should be fired instantly that's just pathetic.
They should suspend all parties in the short term pending an extensive inquiry, hopefully cooler heads can reconcile and prevail, with actions being taken accordingly. If not, you are dealing with unprofessional children who need to check their egos. A long term solution needs to be met that accurately reflects the incident that took place, with any misstep potentially souring workplace culture and trust for all.

I mean look at Edge and Matt Hardy now. They’re very cool with each other.
No one should get fired. For better or worse. This is the most interesting AEW has been a while. .. hope all parties are ok.
Everyone saw this coming. Hell, Stevie Wonder saw this coming
Everyone except Dave and Tony Khan.
Though if you give Dave enough time after the fact, he'll eventually change his account to claim that he either predicted it or knew about it in advance...
Let’s all be honest. The story from the scrum was how bomb those muffins were. Punk was crushing those joints. They made him go Super Saiyan and beat Matt Jackson’s ass! 🤣😅
At least he helped Matt Jackson learn how to sell a hit. 🤷♂️

What Dave Meltzer is to Kenny and Bucks , Jim Cornette is to CM punk

Bryan and Dave should own up that they along with others who report on wrestling news contribute to the issues. Stop reporting on stuff because of what others tell you if there’s no confirmation. Even Punk at the end said to be careful on where you get your news. Y’all making money off these wrestlers at least be smart on what you report.
Punk drops the title this Wednesday and MJF runs the show until all the Elite and Punk suspensions are done with. There's no other way.
lmao ok smark
Why did he win the belt back on Sunday with all this drama in the locker room? That's why people think it's a work! If it isn't 😳😳😳!
Seriously, this entire situation has very much soured me on Pro Wrestling culture in general.
Ace steel bites Kenny’s hair.
*Background Music: You think you’re special..
Solomonster brought up a good point:
Eddie Kingston was just suspended not long ago for doing something much less than what Punk and the EVPs did. So TK is in a difficult situation of what he needs to do without showing the rest of his roster that he isn’t being biased but also he doesn’t want to upset Punk.
EVPs didn't do anything wrong. Punk needs to be suspended and Ace Steel needs to get fired
Well…. They could have just avoided the issue with having to suspend the champion if they would have just left the belt on Mox….
What did the EVPs do? They weren't the ones publicly burying the talent, the company, and the president of the company, to the media.
God it takes dave an hour to spit out a single sentence
That’s why I watch at 2x ^_^

@@AbrahamLeanin The phrase is missing words, "its all rolling or crashing down hill" but its funny how these are worded. However, the phrase means when u climb a "hill" its progress and u get to the "top of the hill" which is the ultimate goal, if you should go "down hill" you are going backwards, losing all that progression and eventually ending up at the "bottom of the hill". Hope this helps xd.
"Your Opinions Suck!" -MJF
You can’t punish someone if they were just defending themselves though. Swinging back isn’t the issue starting the fight is. So whoever actually started it needs to be punished.
@@bobsucks9647 the story is clearly that Bucks came in all "say it to our faces", it escalated and Punk threw the first punch. Then it escalated further and Ace Steele tried to clear the Elite out of the room by acting like a mental (a common barroom brawl trick). Now, none of it is justifiable but none of it is surprising. CM Punk is a textbook narcissist. He's very selectively unpleasant to people, often those who are warm, kind and "weak". He wouldn't call out somebody or fuck with somebody who'd throw down.
It's easy. Shitcan CM Punk.
The double standard here is something, Dave would rip on Bischoff when there would be fighting backstage at WCW but hasn't once criticised Tony Khan. Very telling, Dave is too chummy & definitely has a blindspot for Tony
He clearly wants Tony to succeed and it shows in his reporting
Dave is biased
@@JohnyScissors He wants Tony to succeed because he employs his friends and favorite wrestlers The Bucks and Omega. If they go away, those key demo statistics won’t matter as much and his star ratings will decrease.
If anything, if absolutely nothing else, this shows how fickle and absolutely toxic the majority of this community really is. You have people who glorified The Bucks and Omega and spanked for them in NJPW, and praised them and Cody for getting AEW off the ground now saying they make the show unwatchable. You have people who have been Punk fans for years and begged for a comeback now hoping he walks away. It’s hilariously bad. TK just sitting there wishing for that scrum to be over, Punk spilling his guts about both legitimate problems and his own petty grudges while running down the EVPs and brass of the company that bent over backwards for him, and then a literal backstage altercation with legitimate punches and bites being thrown….. It’s an absolute embarrassment in every possible angle.
Meanwhile, you’ve got proven talent who don’t behave like children in Mox, Danielson, Jericho, Starks, Cassidy, etc. who now have no titles and are lower on the card than most of these people causing problems…
Great statements. Whiney bitch CM Punk ruined what Kenny, Nick, Matt and Cody built.
Loving all the drama. Much better than the on screen product.
There is a clear and distinct through line connecting Punks arrival to the backstage drama. That is not a coincidence.
Bottom line is the 3 evp's need the titles removed. They should of never invaded Punk's locker room. Make Chris the Vice president since he is that locker room's glue. And has through out joining AEW has seemed more like a silent partner. And this company needs to get someone as an authority role that reports directly to Tony and can take charge prior to Tony being advised by the lawyers the family has access too. Tony is a great person, but needs to have someone who can be the bad guy keeping talent in line.
Lmao make excuses for punk... this isn't his company. These guys were working their asses off to build this place while punk was home crying. Get out of here. They had every right to after what he said. You would too.
@@TheRealRollerCodster yep. it's called business, and they get what they deserve, Ace should be fired for the chair incident, and biting Kenny. and the 3 of them should of allowed Tony, to handle it. its called being professional, and guess what punk going off the rails is the pipe bomb all over again.
@@tremere40k You kind of glossed over Zer-0's point, though. The Elite have been breaking their backs for years to get AEW to where it is while Punk did nothing but whine and sit at home and grovel. He comes in and acts like a top dog, gets preferential treatment, and causes locker room division for the guys who BUILT THE COMPANY. Yeah it's a business, but if you don't respect the workers who laid the foundation then you have no place in that business, and CM Punk has ZERO respect for the foundation laid down for him to do his thing. Man, I couldn't agree more.
I'm actually surprised Kenny and the Bucks still had their EVP positions after all the fairly negative reports the last few years. But I only see this situation ending with Tony stripping them of those positions, whether Punk demands it or Tony deems their actions unprofessional and unbecoming, and don't really see Punk being punished at all - he's like the Shawn Michaels in this story, hard to deal with, polarizing, loud mouthed, but also the champion, immensely talented, and a huge draw, thus hard to punish too much.
regardless of Punks actions. was he in the wrong yes, he is. but you have guys who are EVPs they aren't independent contractors they are actual AEW Employees in a large position of Power what they do affect the company. it affects the company it affects the investors advertisers etc. there are legal ramifications Ace Steel, and his Wife can sue AEW for unsafe work environment because she is disable and apparently was in the locker room when the fight broke out.
The shoot interviews 5 years from now will be great.
The reverberations of Punk walking out on WWE and telling all on Cabana's podcast are still incredible after nearly 8 years later.
Punk’s actions are an even bigger embarrassment to this company than the lame fart of an explosive barb wire death match finish. At least that still got Eddie Kingston over as baby face.
Punk’s actions? He called a spade a spade, and the Bucks & Omega were little whiny bitches about it.

Why does everybody keep saying piefacing, what does that mean?
Tony Khan’s leadership as a CEO really hinges on how he handles the fallout from this as CEO and NOT for “Creative” booking. TBH he doesn’t seem to have a great track record managing talent/personalities in his roles with the NFL Jaguars and Fulham in Premier League either 😬 This feels like end-stage WCW if he doesn’t start cracking the whip and taking control of “his” company like Vince would (for better or worse) 👀
He literally has zero to do with talent personal on either of the sporting teams or any relationships with them whatsoever. I’m not a big fan of Tony but this is reaching
@@catchemcarlisle5655 You may be right, but workplace culture is created and established from the Top-Down… maybe it’s TK’s father’s responsibility, but he still has a significant role in business operations for him 🤷♂️

This is a management issue, without a doubt. Tony sets the tone and the culture in all aspects.
Tony Khan has got to lay down some heavy, significant punishment for those involved in this altercation. Putting your hands on someone should be a fireable offense. At some point, TK is going to have to stop playing nice guy and peace maker, and start laying down the law within his company. Whoever is the troublemaker needs to be let go. I don't care how much money and views they generate. He will lose that locker room and their respect if he doesn't grow a spine and get control of his company.
