  • Today's video is about the Acorn 130 straight stairlift which I had just installed for a customer. I will be going over some basics like operation, safety and features of this stair lift.
    This brand of stairlift is available throughout most of the world and is one of the most popular brands out there.
    I am a big fan of the Acorn 130 straight stairlift, so I thought it might be worth a video!
    If this video helped you out in any way, then why not like and subscribe - it's appreciated!
    Thanks for watching.

    How do you change the 12 volt batteries on the 130 Acorn stairlifts

    Thank you for your explanations. Will the Acorn 130 work without the seatbelt being attached?

    • @themobilityguy
      @themobilityguy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No problem , yes it usually works without the seatbelt clipped in , however it’s advised to wear a belt at all times for additional safety
      Its worth noting though , all new stairlifts manufactured from April 2023 onwards must have a seat belt sensor to ensure the user has their belt on prior to travel, but I haven’t seen that on a new Acorn yet

    I was wondering if can switch status display off and be on sleep mode and still be on a charge point without switching the power off . This is first stairlift ever had and relation is not due out of hospital till next week . Also how long would stairlift not be used before possibly get battery damage? We have no holidays planned.

      Hi
      You can switch off the stairlift if not being used , best practice would be to switch it back on the day before they are due home.
      Normally if you’re away from the house for a period of time you can switch it off and also the plug in the wall too, so this wouldn’t be any different

    Hello, thank you for the video, it's great to see the speed, and get some hints - I have no experience with these, and only salespeople to ask!
    Question re: the battery and the weight limits. The instructions we have received say that turning the unit off at the button - ever - voids the warranty, but I have also seen on various review sites that replacement batteries seem to be needed often (within 18 months or so) and are $300 a shot. Is that your experience?
    Re: maximum load - I am 1kg below the maximum load and the guy who came to quote said "it's really okay to 10kg over that" but he only sells Acorn, so has no alternative to offer. If you have any thoughts, I'd be very grateful.

      Hi
      The point about switching off the stairlift by the button is to more ensure the customer doesn’t switch off their stairlift , therefore so the batteries can’t charge
      Switching it off doesn’t void your warranty but switching it off so long that the batteries die, would affect the batteries under any warranty cover
      The batteries should last a few years and yes for a professional to do would cost around $300
      If you are below the max load then this shouldn’t be an issue in terms of use , I know they do offer a “heavy duty” option which goes to 23 stone capacity , and I think the only difference is the batteries are stronger , so I am sure the entire lift is the same except for the stronger batteries
      Personally if you think the weight limit might increase over time then I’d recommend a Bruno stairlift as it’s more built towards heavier users , however if you feel the weight won’t change or there’s no risk of any large weight deviations ; then the acorn should do
      Hope this info helps

      @@themobilityguy Thank you so much, it helps greatly. I've been watching some of your videos and you are truly keeping options available to your community, that we have all but lost,here, in Australia because being a tradie has become so cut-throat, only the cut-throat stay in the trade. . We've had some right-to-repair legislation go through, so I hope we'll still have some good guys like you to keep our hand in and teach the next generation.
      Thanks, again. 🌷🌷

    Hello from USA. I have a technical question on the Acorn 130. The seat to PCB connector 4 connection was smashed beyond recognition at the din connector. My question is, the three wires on PCB connector 4, pins 3 green, 4 red, and 6 brown. Which wires do they go to in the din seat connector. I have black which I believe is common, red I believe is up, and white I believe is down. Please check for me and let me know. Real schematics are non existent here. Thank you in advance. Never mind I finally figured it out. There is a difference in the way the 500 series and the 700 series cards are wired.

    Can you use the chairlift right side or left side of steps

    • @themobilityguy
      @themobilityguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s depends on the model of stairlift. As it depends on a few factors , if you can tell me a particular make or model I could advise if it would work at all.
      Thanks

      300 on regular models. 350 on heavy duty. If you have a hinged rail it's like 250. I've seen many a fatty break the hinge rail.

    Acorn lifts are not worth it. I had one installed for my father when mobility became an issue with stairs. The lift for some reason stopped working altogether. He had to call 911 to help him get down the stairs. I received a phone call from the police about the situation and how scared my father was. Fortunately the police stayed with my dad until I arrived. I placed a phone calls to the person who installed lift. No phone calls after a week were returned. My husband and I took it upon ourselves to take out the lift and dump it. A month later Acorn decided to return our call.

      Unfortunately you’re not the first and not the last to complain about acorn service in the US. They are fantastic products but have also seen for myself on groups on Facebook with people being left stuck. I personally despise the company acorn , love their products but not the money hungry people behind it.
