Ant and wemby are going to be dominant on both sides and jokic is the best player already so it’s between those . Luka will be better than ant but it will be like Tim vs Kobe in the mid 2000s. Jokic only because he is the best player in the league.

They much rather have embiid but he hasn’t won enough didn’t even make the ECF. Shai is just like drake, people didn’t respect drake because he was from Toronto and had that role in degrassi but earned it regardless how he did it. Tatum and edwards is the best option for an AMERICAN face of the league but Tatum has a better chance because he been to like 3 ECF and one finals. The Luka thing, I feel like people want to crown him but his game is too similar to harden but granted he is a level above harden so we will wait and see.

They definitely want a blacker and more American player, but not Shai because he's Canadian, they want someone from the US, but no one raises to the level, Jokic and Giannis could be the face of basketball, but they don't want a white "slow" man representing the NBA, or an European born black guy that does not act like a fool, they truly want Jason Tatum to be the face, but he just doesn't have it. Bad faith convo from both sides imo bc the knock on Luka, from what I have heard around me, is that the guy ain't as accomplished and is yet to make that leap - whether or not you think that is because his teammates are bad (which isn't true over time) is redundant (I even remember when LOW himself made a Vid on why Luka won't win with the playstyle he currently employs). LOW does a good job with the notion of why Luka should be the face but I would say that if Tatum wins a ring, he's the face - much like how Kobe was the face in the mid 00's despite LeBron going on a statistical tear of his own back then.

When you watch Luka on JJ Redick's podcast, it becomes obvious why these guys won't push him as the face of the league. He's a quiet guy, doesn't speak loud, doesn't give the media why to work with. The same as Jokic. And Stephen A is right when he talks about the importance of wanting to be put on this position. They don't.
And the fact that Lebron is still playing just make it mor difficult.

I don't get this whole face of the league thing. Why does it have to be only one? There's so many great players. Just stop it. That isn't what's most important. What is important is for the games to be good. The NFL doesn't make as big a deal of stuff like this. You can say Mahomes is the face now, and before it was Brady, but only because they be winning or being close to win every year. If any of them had a couple of seasons where they weren't getting to the playoffs the NFL they would become replaced immediately. Just talk about all the great players and teams, stop it with the Lebron and Curry when they are 9 and 10. Talk about the great teams and it's great players. Stop being xenophobic and give love to Luka, Jokic, Giannis. If they focused on the top teams and pushed them more, it would make more people like this teams and players, like Jokic and Denver. He should be talked about more than Lakers and Warriors this season. That would create more Nuggets and Jokic fans, and even Jamal Murray.
More focus on teams and less on players would be great. I think it's better for the sport that all their fans support a team they love instead of just loving a player that jumps from team to team, that way they will watch the NBA even when the team and it's players changes, even after the player they love retires.

@Yeenreallylikethat funny you say that since the finals with the lowest viewership ever was Lakers vs Miami 2020.
And if you actually look, the viewership of this finals was pretty average. Not that high but not on the lower side.
So what you are saying is factually wrong. And if Jokic gets more coverage he will become even more popular and attract more viewership.
Most fans just want good basketball and aren’t xenophobic.

    • @andynorck2389
      @andynorck2389 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@Yeenreallylikethat I get what you say, but that doesn’t matter. Tom Brady wasn’t very flashy, unlike Aaron Rodgers, Manning, Mahomes, etc.
Also, Jokic isn’t boring, he has some of the craziest passes, he pulls some amazing 3’s. It isn’t the best, but Lebron isn’t that flashy either. Curry, KD, Harden, and many more had more exciting playstyles, it doesn’t matter that much.
People like winners at the end of the day, people like effort. It will work out. The Spurs would have been more liked if they weren’t treated by the media as just an obstacle to Lebron, instead of its own amazing team with awesome players.
That is the problem, the media just stays in it’s confort zone instead of trying to spread it more to people of teams that deserve it. And a lot of casuals just believe what SAS and ESPN says.
And as I said, Denver vs Miami had basically same viewership as Warriors vs Celtics did, so it isn’t that much of a Jokic being boring or whatever.

    • @andynorck2389
      @andynorck2389 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@Yeenreallylikethat i just think it’s not that simple. You are forgetting Denver has never been good. That is big part of the reason why Denver doesn’t get as much viewers, because they don’t have that many fans, I’m hyping Jokic up because he is one of the two best players now, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. The other one is Giannis who is probably my favorite player right now, and I think he does deserve to be hyped up more.
I also never said you are hating. I’m just saying I don’t like how the NBA handles this stuff, and media too.
They rather keep hyping the Lakers and Warriors than Denver and Milwaukee. I get that those things have more fans, but Lebron is almost done and won’t win another championship most likely, and Curry either. So I’m just asking, why not give more spotlight to the new best players?
You can also clearly see that they are looking for a new face of the league and that it has to be from USA. The problem is that the best players are european. Is it so bad for any of them to be the face of the league for a while? There is Giannis, Jokic, Luka, Embiid. You know at the very least Luka is super flashy, but they still barely talk about him or mention him. You keep talking about Jokic, fine.
But I’m talking about more than that, Jokic is just an example since they just won. But I assure you that if Denver were to win again more people will become fans of Denver and Jokic. And even if you think Jokic is boring, Murray isn’t and he is pretty good, the team isn’t boring in general.

The people that were promoted previously out of necessity like bird and kareem. More stoic but the best players in a league that doesn’t have a lot of players on their level. Bird needed magic to sell to everyone. It is hard for a foreign player to resonate enough with us to make them the face. This is still an american league. Just because you get all star votes doesn’t mean anything because anyone anywhere can vote. A lot of these players I just feel like they don’t take it as serious. Being the face isn’t just a title. The face of the league can turn a small market to a dominant culture. Look at Dallas a team that has no football team, but is a good basketball market.
This market thing doesn’t make sense as because what will the NBA get if the same big markets are getting superstar players, a boring competition.
On top of that, the big market puts pressure on any star. Look what happened to Carmelo Anthony and NYK,
The new face of the NBA comes down to star on the franchise that got front office and coaches scheming in order on a clear cultural goal to create a dynasty.

One, similar to Jordan and Kobe, he was ridiculously ultra competitive which showed often enough his personality, and I also think there is something inherently likable about ultra competitive players. The second being his connection with magic definitely helped, Larry being strongly associated with magic definitely helped a lot and I think once they became close friends in the mid 80s that also helped push Larry.

If JaMorant was healthy his selection for the Olympic team yay or nay would speak volumes on that question. And the people would backlash at his non inclusion. No player has that effect but him right now

If Gianni’s left and went to Miami like the league wanted he would be the face right now they hate Gianni’s for staying in Milwaukee

I don’t remember Andrew Wiggins being pushed by the media that much because of him playing in Minnesota. If I remember correctly he shouldn’t have even gone number 1 in the draft class should have been embiid and no one expected joker to be this good of a player drafting and scouting players is the hardest thing because it’s literally just luck.

    MIN:
KAT is seen as a clown, rather put up numbers and lose
Gobert is seen as a clown, lack of offensive game an Covid
People WANT Ant to be "FOTL"... but then HE OUTED HIMSELF as a "clown" at ASW!!
So now few believe in MIN - "bunch of clowns winning regular season games".
    And this is THEIR fault!!!
Sure, Luka is gifted... but KAT was a 1st overall pick via the NCAA system - FAR more opportunity to "get himself over" to America!!

It's a "conversation" because OPPORTUNITY TO DIKSUK LeBron??
"Oh no, however will the NBA cope without [insert generational talent here once they retire]??"
    MJ retired, TWICE.
I think the NBA will be fine...

Luka game is slow and isn't gonna translate for him to transcend basketball. You can push who you want, but people have to gravitate towards the player. Ja would have been the best example. Plays in a small Markey, but his game is explosive and people like his personality.

I also find it funny Perk is complaining about these players not being big enough for the face in the NBA cause theyre in a small market after literally JUST SAYING Lebron was the face of the NBA while playing most of his career in CLEVELAND

He also had the narrative of him playing for his hometown team which along with the unreal hype he had coming out of high school, really helped him become more marketable.

Luka, youngest ever Euro league MVP
Won everything possible in Europe before the age of 18
Drop 42pt in his first play off game
Average 32+ in back to back year his first 6 season. He’s one chip away from solidifying himself as a top 10 offensive player ever. And the fact is he’ll be more globally known than anyone in the league after lebron retire
