    Very interested in your build. Bought blueprints for a 12x16 cabin. Hope to start building in the spring. Thanks for sharing.

    Absolutely great job. I also want to commend you on your concern for your neighbors with the noise issue. I have a neighbor that works on lawnmowers and he has no concern what so ever. When my wife and I want to sit on our swing it seems like he fires up a lawnmower just to run us inside.

    Black trim looks good with the green, starting to look like a cabin now, good job.

    Closed in and weather tight,( other than the roof trim) sigh of relief I'm sure. Place is looking great. One step closer to finish. Like a turtle, slow and steady wins the race. Stay safe and God bless.

    I love your use of a story poll to make all those screws on the siding nice and straight. I know you only have a few electrical outlets to do but I was watching some other videos about what type of screwdriver to use for electrical outlets. I never seen this type before but the ECX screwdriver fits it perfectly. This video by (Everyday Home Repairs) was really informative for me. Search TH-cam for: (Milwaukee ECX Screwdriver Review | Must Have Electrical Tool) I know I'm going to get one when I have any work to do myself. The green, black, and white look so good on your place. Enjoying the build.

    I love the green siding. It looks great. No painting needed. Great wiring ideas. I'm really interested in this part of the build. Wouldn't it be nice to have rocks around the base of the cabin so they can hide the foundation timbers

    we have a 12x16 insulated with R15, and it's more than enough for such a small building. I suspect our place is about the same elevation as yours (north central MN) and we've stayed in it before at -25F with no issues keeping warm at all with out little wood stove. Great build!

    i built an addition on our house a few years ago and when i installed the eve vents i got a DIY sprayfoam kit from lowes or home depot and used that for bird blocker, it was super easy and quick. it had 2 tanks and a hose and sprayer setup all included

    Echoes Guy: Thanks for sharing this project. You’ve done such a “clean” job on all your rough and finish work. I have a suggestion: when you are doing detail work like the window metal trim it would be helpful to have you show some of your cutting and installation narrated live and close up instead of only the time lapse. Could you also share what blade you are using on your circular saw for the metal cuts? I’m going to be installing some myself so I hope to learn from you.

    You might want to consider a 2 gang box near the front door,just in case you add a porch light later.

    Hi, this is really cool. And the timing is perfect. I am building a 12 x 16 off grid cabin on my mountain land. I have a question. Are your walls 8 feet tall or 10 feet tall? I’m thinking they’re 8 feet? Also, how high is your ridge beam from the top of the wall? You obviously know what you are doing. I am sort of winging it. Thank you for your answers!

    • @echoesupnorth2367
      @echoesupnorth2367  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello. My walls are framed at 9'. You can buy 104 5/8" studs to make the framing easy. I like the extra head room and extra 12" of height to make the space feel bigger. With the 12/12 pitch roof, the ridge is roughly at 15' (6' above the top plate of the walls). Good luck with your place!

      I'll be putting in 3 solar panels incorporated into an awning over the front door. They will be tied into a 1000+W Portable power station that will power the cabin. Considering an EcoFlow or Anker unit.

  • @mikebarbacovi9851

    Great channel. Are you unable to drive your vehicle all the way to the cabin? Hence why you have the 4 wheeler?

    • @echoesupnorth2367
      @echoesupnorth2367  ปีที่แล้ว

      My property is a fairly steep hill down to the lake. No road in yet, so the 4 wheeler is my ride. :-) Thanks for watching!

    Why no colar ties on the rafters? In the vaulted area, without them, under snow load, it will put pressure on the walls pushing them out and will then cause the roof to sag there.

    • @echoesupnorth2367
      @echoesupnorth2367  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mike, I do plan on adding in few threaded rods to act as collar ties and as good functional decoration.
