Thank you for making this video Pierrick, its been very helpful. I'm in the midst of trying to workout what to do with my career and this video has come out at the perfect time and given me a lot to think about. Hearing your experience and advice for working in the industry, and the fact that you don't sugarcoat the difficulties is incredibly vaulable for anyone looking to start a career.
GOD i love this guy 🤩😇😇💪 thanks for sharing your background of how you came up its very motivating. I myself started working at an arcade then i became a waiter and saved up for a RTX 4080. NOW i wanna be the best i can be in product animation, archvis, cinematic vfx, and character animation.
Hi Pierrick, thanks for sharing your personal experience about this. I am 50 years old and work 30 years in the IT industry. I am an animation/modelling enthusiast in Blender and I am learning it and doing it as a side project in my spare time. Btw. thanks for your courses. I sometimes dream of changing careers, but I guess it's too late :)
I love your videos and your tutorials! This is EXACLTY what i needed, im 2 year of of art school and i landed a volunteer position with an animation studio as a junior! Ive learnt a lot but now i am dabbling into animation and i have had amazing mentors and colleges willing to help and give me a shot. I do agree that now there are more jobs in the industry! You got my flame burning even brighter now! ( I plan on making a portfolio and demo reel and take the experience ive gained from my volunteer job and land a full time job while still doing my volunteer position) Love you Man! Keep up the amazing work!
C'est sans doute la meilleure vidéo de conseils pour toute personne aspirant à devenir artiste. Même après 20 ans de métier ça aide encore et ça reboost. Vraiment, Merci Pierrick ! 🦾💪
Thanks for video! I started as 3d generalist in small company and I'm about to quit my job now and I'm thinking about where to go and how to survive in this big crazy world. Maybe networking the most difficult thing ever
couldn't sleep last night stressing about work and saw this video, im freelance spine 2d animator but I really love 3d and blender, almost finished my big project, your words gave me confidence. also i was thinking about landing IT stable job and do animation in my spare time but who knows, may be i will find a small studio job, also i like to do everything by myself in 3d so maybe i will be generalist :D
Thank you, don't consider myself anywhere near great but I'll try to be a little more braver in showing my work even when I don't consider it "good enough"
Thank you so much Pierrick! The timing is perfect, I'm in a situation where I'm thinking of crafting my portfolio and this is something I really need. I'm more of a developer than an animator and artist but I upskilled because of your courses where I can do gameplay loops all by myself. I hope we can meet someday !
Thanks for this video ! And yes, I think it could very cool to make a video talking about how to make a good demoreel as an animator or rigger for exemple.
It has been uplifting to hear your humble words in this topic Pierrick! It's been so insightful, specially when you talk about the challenges of this path. I'm currently struggling on the "be visible" side of things as I am lately mostly practicing to get better in animation and has been rarely sharing my journey on social media. But your tips here give me a better idea of where and how to direct sharing my work. So thank you so much for this video!
Hello Pierrick, everything you shared in the video was great to hear, both as inspiration and as a sanity check in general. Is it possible that you, in the future, share a bit more details on where, how, what's okay to share on social media to help be visible but still maintain a moniker of professionalism without having the doubt of whether or not a post is worth putting online? Also how frequent should you do it etc? Thanks for all the work you do and share, love what you do. Have a nice one.
Thank you Pierrcick. right now i am a student that it's looking for a 3D generalist job to complete my 6 months of practice and get graduated, this advices that you gave in this video put me to think how should i get focus to succes in this dream job, thank you
Thanks for the video and sharing your insights. Yes if you wouldn't mind sharing some tips on constructing a demo reel and what's important and not important I'd really like to hear it. I think I'm a victim of putting things in my demo reel that really don't need to be there. Anyhow appreciate it.

Good evening Pierrick, I’ve been looking into attending next year’s GDC event after watching your video. Since this will be my first time attending, I’m trying to figure out which pass would be best suited for my goal, which is primarily focused on networking with companies and landing a job. I’ve read mixed responses online-some say the Expo Pass is sufficient for networking, while others recommend the Core or All-Access pass for a better overall networking experience. Additionally, many mention that the after-parties are the best place for networking. Given your experience, I’d love to hear your thoughts on which pass would offer the best opportunities for someone like me who is primarily interested in networking and job opportunities. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the video, now I know that I'm probably missing luck and that I should go to more conferences. It's damn hard to find anything at all in Germany, except for offers from Ubisoft or Crytek, which have very high requirements. It's hard to find out where the indie people are hiding and searching on various Discord servers hasn't been successful either. So I will try to box my way through as a freelancer. Have you actually worked as a freelancer or have you always been lucky to be employed?
I'm learning animation from alive course and complete your aoer2 rigging course And im creating a short film for my portfolio with my friend My concern is AI gonna give me hard time in animation and rigging as a freelancer
Yes and no.... The thing is AI will allow to work faster and increase the quality... But people with the initial skill will alway sbe better than people just dropping promps. I don't know how much AI is gonna be a thing we use, but a good animator with AI will be better than a random guy with AI

I myself see AI little by little starting to take over some Animation jobs, I think to learn character animation is no longer relevant, it's better to learn Ai animation from now on.
@@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN No, I already know the fundamentals of making good animations, what I mean is that as we know animation takes a very long time, with AI I don't need to make manual animations anymore from frame by frame, I just need to make a prompt that I want the animation to be like and then AI will generate the content, you also know that.
