  • Carl Reiner, the funnyman behind TV classics like "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and movies like "The Jerk,” died on June 29, 2020 at the age of 98. In this story which originally aired on June 4, 2017, correspondent Tracy Smith sat down with Reiner, actor Dick Van Dyke, and producer Norman Lear, to talk about how they helped reshape the TV comedy landscape in the 1960s and ‘70s, and about the HBO documentary about their generation, "If You're Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast."

I'm 73 and have had the privilege to enjoy some of the fruits of Carl Reiner and friends over the years.
My daughter was born on June 29, '95.
I had a successful clarinet/sax studio for forty years.
I always looked forward to giving lessons. For me it was "show time". Getting and keeping students of all levels excited about what music had to offer. I had fun at every lesson.
During one period I had sixty VERY accomplished students many who sat principal players in their bands and top civic youth, bands and orchestras winning concerto competitions, college scholarships and performing with professional symphonies.
I'm thankful I found something I could do that was so satisfying.

🌺 The words "Thank You!" are pale next to the brilliant ideas they've shared and the magnificent spirit they've brought to our industry and everyone they've touched. I just hope they all know how wonderfully they've blessed their fellow creatives, friends and fans. 😀 My happy thoughts and best wishes follow them like a puppy playing with a tennis ball. 💕 With much admiration, ALOHA NUI! 🤙🌺🤙

Their comedy was original because they were original. Such bright men that knew what to do to make people laugh. They have a legacy of laughter. If we could ALL do that what a great world it would be.

After reading the comments, I understand the downvotes: Apparently there is a concern about the lack of closed captioning.
