Growing up in a black family in the late 70s we wasn't allowed to watch All in the Family because of Archie views of black people but I'm now 47 and this is one of my favorite shows to watch before I go to sleep. I love this entire cast. I love how it showed realness of other people thoughts. He didn't hate black people he just had his own weird thoughts of how we are lol. This was good tv and now everyone is so sensitive about everything

I was 12 when this show premiered. The whole family watched and we laughed and repeated the best lines and laughed again! What a time. America was not so divided and understood humor is just humor. Not a put down.

When I lived in LA George Jefferson used to visit a technician friend from his show in my building and we met and spoke a few times. He was humble, polite, and soft-spoken. Nothing like his character ! 😅

Every time I watch these, I miss my dad more and more. This was his favorite show. He died in his sleep when I was 16. I never had a chance to say goodbye. But I’ll always remember his laughter at this show.

Main reason why I still watch them, plus, the cast men/women on these shows were OUTSTANDING AND VERY TALENTED ALONG WITH THE SCRIPTWRITING. THAT IS HUGH!!
I met Norman Lear at the Miami Book Fair on November 22, 2014 while he was promoting "Even This I Get to Experience". I wore an "Archie Bunker for President" t-shirt and got a photo with him with our arms slung around each others' shoulders (like pals). He LOVED the t-shirt and I had the opportunity to thank him from the bottom of my heart for this show (and everything else he's done). One of the highlights of my life... even THAT I got to experience!! Thank you, Norman! We love you!!
I am not a boomer, I am a Gen X. I grew up watching this show and still watch episodes of it here and there. To this day, I find nothing wrong with this shows script. Which means GenX is def the last good generation. We understand a joke. This show would have never made it past the pilot episode today 2022. This show, together with a few others was true talent for comedy. Classic!

Archie and Edith were one of the most iconic TV couples ever! Both actors were brilliant. Great characters! The two younger characters were not at the same level.
How did I not know about this? I’m a millennial so that explains it but despite this I love timeless classics. I only knew about this show because I watch In the Heat of the Night on MeTv every morning at 11am. Once I started watching that I looked this show up and now I’m hooked! I may only be 28 but this has already reached one of my all time favorite shows! This ain’t no boomer humor this is DEFINITELY a timeless classic! If they’d made an episode when Edith passed away, I’m sure she would have treated Archie better. Stephanie’s grandmother was a similar person, a somewhat stuck-up and wealthy person that initially thought Archie was dumb and uneducated, but came to accept him and knew he was better qualified than her son in law that couldn’t hold a job and drunk all the time.
Archie Bunker was the best TV character ever on TV sitcom. Missed the man, he was so damn funny. I laughed all the time watching him. Made my childhood wonderful.
The funniest to me is Archie locked in the basement. The look on his face when he thinks God is coming to get him, and he turns to see a black neighbor! He gets down on his knees, and says forgive me lord, the Jeffersons were right!!

Because either bunker was exactly like my mother very naive and ignorant when it came to what's going on in the real world. She wasn't the breadstick woman that's for sure. But yes she had a heart of gold because sometimes ignorance is bliss. And she didn't have to go out and deal with the world every day other than grocery shopping once in a while and going to church
Because it was a show written by a group of talented script writers for comic effect. It was reflective of the time in which it was written. The men of the Greatest Generation came back from World War II, got married and thus the Baby Boomers, raised by mothers who stayed home and fathers who worked all day to provide for their families.

Because either bunker was exactly like my mother very naive and ignorant when it came to what's going on in the real world. She wasn't the breadstick woman that's for sure. But yes she had a heart of gold because sometimes ignorance is bliss. And she didn't have to go out and deal with the world every day other than grocery shopping once in a while and going to church
Because it was a show written by a group of talented script writers for comic effect. It was reflective of the time in which it was written. The men of the Greatest Generation came back from World War II, got married and thus the Baby Boomers, raised by mothers who stayed home and fathers who worked all day to provide for their families.
