  • Continuing to work to our cabin at the lake. The metal roof, doors, soffits, and porch are all done. Even had some time to clean up around camp. Thanks for watching!

When you flash your nailing flanges, it is good practice to do the side first then the top so it overlaps the sides preventing water intrusion.

If you'll put roof shingles on your steps they won't rot. My son-in-law told me to 18 years go when I built mine and they're still going good, and you don't need to salt them in winter, just toss a little sand if you want.

Reported the sketchy spammers offering Brunettes and Blondes. Cabin is looking really nice. You have come a long way. Thanks for taking us with you.

it's coming along nicely! when the cabin's done, i hope you would do a sort of compressed timelapse of the entire build, from laying the foundations to finishing the interior. looking forward to your next upload!
also your property by the lake is just so beautiful. the views and the foliage and the dock and the cute cabin must be so relaxing. thank u so much for sharing this with us, really appreciate it. 💚

Nice job. In hindsight, I wish I had gone standing seam on my cabin roof. I learned later that those gasketed screws lose their seal to UV damage after about 7-10 years and need to be replaced. Your cabin is looking great. Can't believe how tight you got your house wrap haha.

The screw manufacturers often sell plastic, press-on caps for the screws (colour coordinated) to shield them from UV. Should make them last longer. I share your concern for the longevity of a rubber gasket though. Standing seam seem permanent, but I think it needs skilled installation to bend the seams into place?

That's a nice cabin. Seems like the doors are a little to big though for that size of building. You kind of lose a whole wall with it

No worries mate on the amount of footage. Work has to be done when you've got the help and or time. You're putting enough out for all of us to see your progress. Roof, soffit and fascia look good, especially at the end of the gables. It's not always easy to clean that up with all the returns and such. Looking forward to the next video. Stay safe and God bless.

You should through some of your scrap 2x4 under your loft floor joists on the outer walls. I know you put those structural screws but a 3 foot scrap nailed to the stud under each one would add allot more strength. At least the ones on the window side are resting on the window headers for the most part. Would hate to see the flooring dry out and crack and give out. Don't need a full trimmer but anything would help. Enjoying the build.

Looking great! No idea what your plans are but since it's a small space to retain heat when people open the door in winter some thermal mass soaking up the suns rays through the windows might help
