I enjoy your videos. You help put some confidence back in me. It's been around 50 years since my last build. I retired in 2009. After working on my property. I now don't have much to do. So I though I would start molding again. I always liked it so here I go. I started the first one. Sherman. The m4. It the one my uncle drove in the battle of the bulge.

Hey Champion you are truly becoming a great channel for scalemodelling. At the level of Andyshobbyheadquarters I would say.

Very nice, thanks for sharing. Another option for "semi-fixing" the pigments would be to go the other direction, ie water-based fixer - just use very diluted white glue with water and a touch of liquid soap to break the surface tension of water. It has a similar result with when you us it to "fix" soil and vegetation on diorama bases, with the white glue providing a bit more solidity to the pigments on the vertical surfaces of the tank. The great thing with all these methods is that there is no right or wrong, as you try to simulate the chaotic behaviour of real, natural materials - so all bets are off.
I think one difference (and advantage) of the Wilder acrylic products is that they are re-workable, after they dry - you can re-activate them with water (which is not the case with normal acrylic mud and washes of other brands). Enamel products are re-workable too with enamel thinners, but they, well, smell (obviously).

Nice one mate. Best tip I've ever got from the channel is to think about weathering in how it would have happened in real life. i.e. where is the mud splashing, where are the crew scuffing the paint with regular wear and tear etc. Treating the build like a story, not a static artifact. On this build I'd have done some light battle damage just for sh!ts and giggles. Looks like a brand new tank thats been driving through some mud. Still, that could be the story of this tank as it sounds like not many of them survived actual engagement with the enemy.

That mud effect looks great. I've been experimenting with using neat oils to get tonality and a slightly more diffuse shading around rivets and panel edges than using pin washes. Its kind of dry brushing in the corners rather than over the detail. Just making a desert coloured T55 which has some promise.

Re pin washes. Without an airbrush I sprayed Citadel Munitorum Varnish over the acrylic base, but when I tried to remove the excess it turned to sludge and went down to the black undercoat. Have I used the wrong product?

Maybe I just missed it, but which thinners do you use with the dry pigments? White spirts or lacquer?

Excellent video and demonstration of the techniques. Question, do you clear coat in between weathering application? I'm currently building a "M2 Bradley" for my channel, this is the first armor kit I've done since I was a kid. I'm hoping to make it look well weathered and since I haven't built vehicles like this, your video has helped me out, a lot. Thank you. Have a great day.
