    In this video we run through some of the techniques I use to weather model, this is perfect for beginners as it is a nice gentle introduction and I do not delve too deep into the subject. I'm mainly using enamel products from Ammo Mig Jimenez but you can also use oil based products along with these. For chipping I use basic acrylic paints.

    I understand you so much ... I also struggle with wheatering process because I don't want to take me an endless time. My favorite part is building... give me a 10.000 parts model and I will have the patience to build it. But when it comes to paint and wheatering, I'm still in a learning process. So I want to keep things simple and prefer very subtle wheatering looks. As you mentionned it so good ... the most important thing is to finish our models the way we like them. Sometimes I feel disapointed when making pictures because all the flaws pops up ... but in reality, in person I mean, the model doesn't look that bad. Thank you so much for sharing some tips to keep us motivated.

    What modellers seams to forget that the crew also leaves, marks on the tank. Having been on tanks and armoured vehicles in the Army. Mud builds up around the hatches from the crews boots were they have knock off the mud before entering the vehicle. Also they leave foot prints. Mud is like sandpaper, it's gritty and will take paint off tracks and the vehicle leaving unpainted areas.

    This was a really great tutorial and demonstration of techniques. I'm currently building an M2 and these will come in handy. I really enjoy the weathering process but most of the time I stress about "starting" the process. Once I get into it however, then it just flows and becomes almost therapeutic. Have a great day.

    Really nice small chips. I find that doing a "scuff pass" of a lighter base color underneath the black brown really helps chips read better on a single color vehicle.

    Impressive ! I think weathering is definitely the most intimidating process next to working with resen, atleast you can undo weathering for the most part. Remembering that is key to no frustration !

    In my personal opinion I do like the weathering stages of modelling I used to not bother and make em clean then I started to do it now I love to do weathering even with the limited supplies I have

    Hi Jason, I really like all your content, and so far you gave me many valuable hints and tips for which I'm very thankful 😍E.g. I never thought of using a hair dryer for speeding up the drying time (mostly bc I'm bald and don't own one 😁). But here is my question: if I were to use one in the future, do I use it with hot air from a little further away, or rather with cold air closer to the model? Thanx for getting back to me!

      Great to hear! I use it through the temperatures and try not to hold the heat on too long, I have had issues with vinyl tracks but other than that I can use it on heat without issue, running down to just air to let it cool off.

    I'm the same, still fairly new to the hobby and my 3rd completed model is a finished 1/35 Tamiya Churchill which has been sitting there for about 3 weeks deciding whether to weather it or not. I like the pristine finish I got and its the first model I've airbrushed but its more that I'm intimidated by trying to weather it as I don't want to ruin the model.

      Easy option to start with is Vallejo Model Wash European Dust. It's a very thin wash with tiny brown flecks or which don't dissolve into the medium. You just slap it on, more the merrier, and it drys with a a build up of dirt in cracks and edges where armour plates meet etc and for the flat areas it provides a real nice filter and modulation to knock down flat colours of the main paint colour. It's acrylic as well so easy to use. Can get other colours too so can mix them to get all the tones you need. Highly recommend it.

    May I ask when you began this weathering process had you finished the whole model with a clear varnish? I’m confused at to the steps I should take before I start to add the weathering to my models.

    • @ChampionScaleModelling
      @ChampionScaleModelling  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can either do it directly over the paint, add a gloss or a matt before you start the weathering. The safest route is to add a clear coat (gloss or matt) as this can act as a barrier. I prefer to weather over matt as it bites in better but can be harder to manipulate/remove. Over gloss it I’ll wipe off easier
