I would love to see you actually trying a plane. The way most people tackle planes has become pretty standard with not many new things on the table. It would be interested to see how an armor modeller, and of your caliber for that matter, implements their techniques on aircraft building. How you would create colour variations, chip the colour on the aluminium instead of steel base, deal with the finish of the subject etc.
Regardless though you have been a huuuge inspiration and when I actually tried your techniques on a project of mine, I was stunned with what I could actually achieve

That's could be quite interesting. As I tried to use Night Shift techniques on building and old civil truck (for railway layout), I would also be interested to see Night Shift working on a civil model or a building/diorama.

would love to see him build and weather a plane too. maybe a tankbuster like a Sturmovik or a Ju-87 with twin underwing cannons. Yeah a Stuka tankbuster would be cool, and would tie in with armor/armour modelling. Or an RAF WW2 Typhoon or US Thunderbolt. Or an A-10 Warthog. Maybe modelling a tank killer would be blasphemy to Martin though ;)

I can vouch for you on German dirt and dust and mud. I was stationed in Germany in the 3rd infantry division, I was on a Bradley, and most the the dust and dirt had a greyish pale tan color. And it got everywhere!! Lol. If someone was to do a tank in hoenfel,(training area) or grafenwohr(gunnery area) the vehicles are literally covered in dust and dirt. Not only that, but me too. That's another one people forget, the crew get as dusty and dirty as the vehicle they are on. One thing, my company was sent to hoenfel to train units going to Bosnia. We got stuck there for 3 months Feb to April. Never washed the vehicles, not only were the ridiculously dirty, but they were just beat up. That was a rough time. Lol...oh and on modeling, I hope one day you would do something in 1/16 scale. Like a luchs or a su100. Something to challenge you. That would be awesome.

You might try a “real dirt” trick from diorama & layout building. It’s a 50/50 or 60/40 earth (dirt from the yard) and non sanded grout. It has a real dirt appearance in color & texture, because it is, and the grout can modify the color while maintaining a very fine, to scale texture and binder when dampened in place (or as a paste to build up) with thinned Mod Podge (matte, satin, or gloss for desired effect).
