Hmmm, that is a good question and unfortunately I don't know the answer. Based on my experience with the app you would think you could just add surrounds to the Playbar and it would just work no problem. If you are buying them new I suppose you could just try it and if it doesn't work, return them. Would some older Play 1's work for you? Might be cheaper too.

Just ordered an Arc ultra to go with my Black Friday 65-inch TV purchase for the downstairs home theater setup. The intent is to add a Sub 4 and Era 300s over time. Do you suggest getting the Era 300s next, or the Sub4 next? I'm thinking Era 300s because the Arc Ultra already has that built-in in-motion sub. Thoughts?

That's a great question... To be totally honest, since the Arc fills the space so dam well I almost think you should opt for the sub first. It's a totally different experience... the 300's will just make the effects of movies sound so freaking good, HOWEVER, the sub will just be the special sauce and make EVERYTHING sound good. In this case, I think the sub should be a higher priority. Either way you can't really go wrong.

I've currently got the beam gen 2 and arc ultra and been comparing them and to be perfectly honest the beam more than holds its own. I can hardly hear any difference with atmos content and I actually think speech is clearer on the beam and music sounds better as well. Needless to say I'm returning the ARC and will keep the beam that I got for £300 , the arc ultra isn't £700 better , nowhere near.

@@andrewguy8599 I agree that the Beam arguably sounds better for dialogue and the music is more focused which is accurately reflected in the name of the product. It literally BEAMS sound at you. Where the Arc steals the show is when you aren't sitting directly in front of it. The spatial sound really does fill the room much better. It's like the Era 300's... I find the Sonos Five speaker sounds way better when you listen directly in front of it, however the moment you aren't in that sweet spot, the 300's just fill the room with sound which is nice. They do very different things in my opinion and while I have the Beam in my main living room which I love, I still prefer watching action movies etc on the Arc. But yeah, maybe not worth that much money unless you can really afford it.
