As a technician I appreciate videos such as yours that are backed up by actual measurements rather than by marketing language only. PS: Would be great to get to know your measurement set-up (maybe stuff for another video...). Thanks!
Thank you for this video. I’m just placing order of sub 4👍👍. I’m new to the Sonos systems (2 weeks actually) I have arc ultra and 2 era 300 speakers thus a sub 4 will complete the family 😂😂😂 Hope my neighbours like the stuff I watch as they will be hearing it 😂😂😂😂😂
I myself moved from 3 to 4, i realised it sounds slightly louder at lower frequencies at some songs i listened to and is more pronounced. Im glad what i experienced is true😂
Mr. Pee, thank you for your input. I love your video’s! I only request if you can make a updated best settings video with2 sub 4’s arc ultra and 2 era 300’s.
Oh wow, thanks for this info! I was going to upgrade my system with the arc ultra and a sub 4 to run dual sub with my old sub gen 1. But if the ultra does not support dual sub with my gen 1 I'm just going to stay with the arc i already have and just purchase the sub 4
I have this setup and it sounds phenomenal. I also want to say that many songs in Atmos that were lacking with the Arc sound amazing through the Arc Ultra. I thought there were problems with the mixes, but it was more unit specific.
Love your videos. Can you do your opinion on arc vs arc ultra in a set up with era 300s & Sub 3/4? Also could you comment on the true play issues etc. there is commentary that the sub sound and surround output is not coming out right vs an arc set up.
As always, thank you Peter. Looking forward to your full reviews. Do you think there will be a big impact in the future in a Sub gen 5 if Sonos incorporates heart motion tech into the Sub?
I have a Playbase! It’s a good balance for an apartment user. The Arc didn’t interest me but the Ultra with its new woofer thing does. I also rock two Ones and a sub-mini in my spare room. It doesn’t have any common walls.
I still have the Sub Gen 1, Arc, and two Play 1's. Everything still sounds good to me. Which upgrade (if any) would be most worth? Are there any noticeable differences between the Sub1 till 4, like there is between the Arc and Arc Ultra?
Hi Peter, Thank you for this video. I've got Arc Ultra connected with 1 Subwoofer Gen 2 and 2 ERA 100. It's great. Checking Sonos Application in setup, it seems that I can also connect another Sub Sonos (Dual Subs connectivity) but must be a Sub Gen4. It's not what you are saying in the video: must be Gen3 or Gen 4. Have you got any info on this? Thank you Peter.
Wait, what? Really everything I've been reading and seeing even on the Sonos website is saying that the Gen 2 can't pair with the ultra if it is a dual setup. I found okay deal for another gen 3 that I just bought I wish I would have known this before buying it.
I also called Sonos this Monday because I could not add the sub 2 to my setup: Arc ultra 2x era 300 Sub 3 The told me the gen 2 will not pair for duel just like Peter is saying. Because it is internal hardware and cannot be fixed with a software update. If you have an arc ultra and you have just one single sub 2, that is possible but not to add it to duel with a sub 3 and the arc ultra.
The new bass speaker in the Arc Ultra (invented by 2 dutch brothers and sold to Sonos for 100 million) is a revolution. Will this new speaker technology be in the sub 4? It will make the earlier generations indeed obsolete imo.
Thanks for the tests. Had bought Arc 1 and Sub Gen 3 this year at cheap prices. My fearwas that the new Gens were much better. Personally it's not worth the upgrade now. Will wait for next Gen to come. For second Sub. I think I will buy a used / refurbished Gen 1- 3 after X-Mas is over.
Sub 4 sounds great at my favorite listening position. My room is rather big with high Ceiling. Would adding a 2nd Sub the felt bass at a specific position?
Thank you for the video - looking forward to to the comparison of Arc vs Ultra with Era 300 surrounds and sub. Will tell us whether it is worth upgrading.
Read a lot of issues about trueplay and Sub "power"and in additon issues with rear speakers (maybe only Era are affected) not playing sound on 5.1 sound. Any infos about the issues ?
What will be the effect of I use with the arc ultra a sub 3 with a sub 4 duel setupp Or should I just spare the Money and use 2x a sub 3 with the arc ultra ?
Hi Peter, love your video. What if im on arc plus 2 era 300 and 1 sub gen 3 Should i get another gen3 or gen 4? It is around rm 700 difference in Malaysia
I would dual sub and get a Gen 3,currently I just bought another Gen 3 to replace my Gen 2 sub because I'm going to get the Arc Ultra in the next 2 months.
Could you test the Arc Ultra with Era 100 Rears? And please test it with 5.1 soundtracks too, here are many in the Forums wo doesn‘t get sound from the rears. The rears only seems to work properly with better soundtracks (Atmos, 7.1…)
A very important aspect that was not discussed is dynamic range. How loud can the sub play before compression or limiting sets in? You should provide this info as well. Not because we will listen at those levels but in order to understand how well the sub will perform in dynamic content. You have not specified if you place the two subs at the exact same spot and with the exact orientation in order to understand if the differences are due to the room. Near field measurements will also help with that.
Sub Gen 3 obsolete? No… Sub 4 will be only be an upgrade to those with money to spend. Only Sonos will make the Sub Gen 3 obsolete when they retire it.
I just sold my Sub Gen 2, since i got a very good offer from a guy needing a Gen 1 or 2. Now i am sort of split, since I can't decide between the new Sub 4 or the Sub Mini. Really like the matt design, and want a sub to go along with my Beam Gen 2. What do i go for?
Hey Peter, Can you test Sub gen 3 vs Sub gen 4 paired with two Sonos Fives in stereo? Plus how Arc Ultra performs in Stereo in comparison to mentioned Fives?
I’m mostly listening to music with my stereo paired Fives. Has anyone added a sub with this setup? Curious as the reviews always tend to focus on Sub plus soundbars.
Hello, I have an ARC+sub gen 3. I want to add a sub. Should I add a gen4 or gen3? Aesthetically it might look weird with a mismatched pair, but what about the sound?
I say Era 300,because what you have currently the Arc Ultra could overpower everything. Get Era 300 and wait till after Xmas and look for an open box deal for the Arc Ultra.
Just sold my Sonos system, bought the Samsung q990d, so happy, just set it and forget it, sounds great. No more Sonos drama, best of all no more of these gibberish videos, gen1,gen4,low mhz, pair this one with that one, buy one sub, two subs, just keep spending more money and dealing with that stupid app ?. @ Yeah they are clueless if that’s what they are saying to people.
