Apple is only for people not knowing the metric system. Sonos would be better off not being bought by Apple, but by Denon or any other audio company. And let the cobbler stick to his last. Meaning they should do what they do best: Make speakers with an app and focus on that.
Ive had my Sonos system for 6 years and the app has drastically made my experience worse over the past year or so. Even though I have enjoyed the system, I will never buy a sonos product after this one.
I'm another Sonos owner with 20 pieces from (Symfonisk, Roam v1, One SL, Fives, Era 100, Beam Gen 1/2, Arc, Arc Ultra, Gen 3 subs). I was having issues a few years ago with my home wi-fi of slow internet with +40 devices connected to wi-fi when I added Sonos pieces 16-19 (v1 Arc, dual Gen 3 subs, & Fives). Hardwire the Arc into router and problem was solved 100%. I only use the Sonos app for software auto updates, initial set-up or moving of speakers, advance TruePlay, or controlling whole house volume. I use the TV remote, iphone airplay, or press/hold the play/pause speaker button to add/remove for whole house probably 98% of the time. I didn't know Sonos was having issues with the app until I started doing research into upgrading my Arc to the Arc Ultra. Having potential problems with every software updates seems to be "baked into the cake" being an iphone user (Carplay or apps crapping out) and IT Specialist dealing with Microsoft working with hardware.
@@backchatterit’s the fact for most issues, rather than blaming the app, fix your wifi. Think about why lots of people out there have zero issues, yes Sonos change the architecture of the application, if you want to continue to use it flawlessly, you have to change something if it’s not reliable on clients end where Sonos is not able to change for you
Lets agree to disagree here! I’ve changed two internet providers during all these and the issues are still there. My internet is just fine for 4k streaming, gaming and work from home but not for Sonos lol.
Sounds like you no longer own any Sonos products, therefore you aren't really qualified to comment on the user experience with them. I just got into Sonos over the past 6 months and my experience with them has been mostly positive, sure the app could be better, however i've still had at least the core user experience available to me over that time.
I do own them, infact i had them for over 4 years but i will not be investing more money into their products or their ecosystem till they fix the app the bare minimum of expectations. Also, there are rumours the sonos are heading towards a subscription model. If you’ve just joined the gang 6 months ago you probably dont know how good it was before you bought your devices.
@backchatter okay fair enough, good to know that you are speaking from experience. And yeah it would have been interesting to have been able to compare the performance of the app before and after the update, although I'm sure it didn't seem "interesting" at the time. Still I thought my own experience was worth sharing as it contrasts quite significantly from your own.
Previously everything was done on your device and now it goes to server so you loose the instant response the old app had. Further, if you try skipping few songs in quickly you would start to feel the lag. I am so scared of updating the app because previously it removed my devices and i had to start all over again. So whenever i have no issues i leave it as is. However, some are forced to update if you buy new device or the speakers are in a different firmware. When it all works its second to none.
Did you just say Sonos only sold 250 units of the Ace? And thats a pure excuse for not buying Sonos. One bad product - in your opinion - does not mean other products are cra. The new is eg. a really, really good Soundbar. One of the most stupid videos i have seen recently and thats says alot.
You’re obv dismissing the video because it goes against your argument. Maybe you wasted money on a Sonos product and can’t handle the truth. Denial won’t make the facts go away. It just makes you look clueless and pathetic.
Maybe it’s time for Apple to buy them out and integrate them into their ecosystem
That would be great!

Fair point!
You should have asked me 4 years ago hahaha

I have 20+ speakers at home and works flawless, it’s time to upgrade your modem and router
Hahhaa not the “it must be wifi or router” please. Its become a meme within the reddit community!

@backchatter download any apk version from an apk app website, risk to security but might be worth it. That is if you have android
I dont have an android device but the speakers are now on a latest firmware which forces you to have the latest software

Did you watch the whole video? Its as low as 250 units per day! I’ve referenced the article too!

I had no issue with the app with the Sonos beam gen 2 so idk maybe it was a you problem. Sucks for you
Do you have multiple speakers or just the beam?
Nah. App dropped all my devices in the middle of a movie and they aren’t discoverable anymore.
