Q990C + 85X90L. Sounds great! Bassheads will be happier with either the Klipsch 1200 or Nakamichi Dragon though. Sony BRAVIA Theatre Quad offers better surround and sound stage. None of the later beats the Q990C for value at almost similar performance though.

Picked up the Flexus Core 200 a few weeks back. Black Friday for $350. I use it in my sunroom. He's right, you DO NOT NEED need the add ons! I was blown away. I absolutely love this soundbar.
A few years back, I splurged on a Teufel Cinebar Lux. Yes, pricey. But wow, I never looked back. The room it’s in is not large, and the output is way more than adequate. In fact with the volume able to go to 100, I’ve never had it higher than 45, and that is already very loud. Bass response is incredible and clarity is just super.
I started with a Beam Gen 1 with Symfonisk rears, added a sub a year later, upgraded to the Beam Gen 2, and later upgraded the rears to One SLs. The old Beam 1/Symfonisk moved into Master bedroom. The Beam sounded better with every piece I upgraded. A lot of flexibility with Sonos.
I have owned the Q990B for a year and a half. The best purchase of the year. After tuning (and you can tune the russian out of it)-it is literally what I expect from a premium soundbar. The Bladerunner intro scene gives me goosebumps. I would recommend it to anyone willing to spend less than €1000 on a home cinema and music system. Also-no issues whatsoever, just to clarify, zero issues.
I have the Bose 900 for a few years back. I cannot believe how wonderful it sounds. No sub. No surround speakers. I got mine for 799. I feel it's a great bar for that price! You pay for the Bose name but in my opinion it is worth it!
Hi Caleb, I totally agree with you on the Yamaha CR20-A. When I bought my mom a new TV (Sony X85K), I got her the CR20-A and hooked it up via eARC. I was very impressed with how it sounds: clear dialog, great sound, and even some base. Even my mom could hear the difference.
Got a Samsung Q930D few days ago to pair it up with a Samsung S90D OLED TV that I also recently bought. I'm so pleased and happy, especially since I never owned a soundbar before. Unfortunately Q990D was somewhat out of my budget and I found the Q930D at a very good discount. I am enjoying it a lot whether its streaming video, listening to music or playing on my PS5. The whole set up was very easy which pleased me even more.
Best bang for your buck has to go to the Samsung. I have the older version of it and still love it. Beefy sounding and best priced for what you get. Mine is still going strong after 3 years. And with dolby vison pass through its awesome to connect devices to it and not get anything watered down.
I dunno why he says 'most reasonably priced'. If you take the launch price into account, then sure. But it doesn't take long for it to get huge discounts. If anything, the pricing is unreasonably low. Unless you want something really specific, there's really no reason to shell out $1000-$1500 more to get something of somewhat equal sound quality (since you can get Samsung's from $900-1300 or so easily while any other equally good setup (soundbar + 2 speakers) will cost you at least $2000-$2500 even with discounts.
Just gonna put this out here but I went from a top end Sony soundbar to a pair of Klipsch The Nines + a Klipsch sub. Night and day difference and highly recommend it.
I have all of the top Sony sound bars speakers and sub and it's been great, however sound bars are often advertised as being as good as it gets and there is a whole other level once you get into buying individual speakers. Klipsch stuff I've bought has always been impressive and the heritage series is great.
Going from any soundbar to larger, separate speakers with a sub is going to sound much better. Has nothing to do with the soundbar you had or the brand of speakers you went to. This is not news, it is "no shit" information. Soundbars were never about getting the best sound, it is about getting the best sound possible for only having 'one' speaker at the TV.
Just bought the Klipsch Flexus Core 200. Got it open boxed, and it was mislabeled. So I got it brand new, for $300. It's just blowing my mind how good the sound is. I'm not even bothering getting the sub or other speakers. Thank you for your recommendation!
Older apartment dweller here who lives above a B&B, so I have to be careful about when I listen to a full-blown system as opposed to an all in one sound bar, so I own both. I’ve heard all the systems in this video and they’re all good; however, I was able to pick up a Polk Magnifi AX SR system on sale for $600 which is what I listen to when there’s no one around and it absolutely blows up my apartment, excellent system; for those times when I can’t have an active subwoofer rumbling my floor I listen to the JBL 5.0 Multibeam (which is on sale right now at Best Buy for $149 - best $149 I’ve ever spent, and I’ve had a lot of sound bar systems).
I'm still using my Vizio SB3651 soundbar that I bought 10 years ago for $149 CAD ($110 USD). I was shocked how good the sound and bass were when I bought it, and it still sounds just as good. Great purchase. I have a 65" Hisense U88N TV and the sound on that is really excellent...for a TV, but it's no soundbar. I have a Yamaha SR-C30A in the bedroom (that I received as a gift), and it does sound good, but it doesn't compete with the much cheaper Vizio. Unfortunately, Vizio is almost non-existent here in Canada now, so NOT readily available at all.
I just upgraded my SB3651-F6 with the M512a-H6 and I'm disappointed with it. There's barely any bass to it compared to the SB3651. On the M512, I have all the settings set to mid level with the bass/subwoofer levels set to max. I also notice that on the SB3651 the comfortable volume level for me is at 8 whereas the M512 I have to set it to 30 for the same level. I even upgraded the M512's firmware to no avail. I wished I went with the Vizio M51ax-J6 model instead.
Hello moneybags……. Would you consider picking up the new Sonos arc ultra elite with two sub fours and two pairs of ERA 300. Let me know your answer thanks.
@michael-4k4000 hi, if you have money to burn yea, sure. But from what I've researched the price difference is not worth it. Is a small gap between them in term of performance and the sonos app is shit from what I've heard
Agree. My long-lasting 15 years $43 Creative T3300 2.1 PC speakers, at just 54W PMPO, already sounds and works great for my PC. This 160W PMPO Creative Stage V2 will be an awesome upgrade for me!
I've a 17 year old 2.1 creative which I probably got for $30 and the sound quality is still amazing. No cheap speaker or soundbar comes near it even today.
Does it take a while for the TV to connect to the soundbar? I have the same one and it takes up to a minute after turning the TV on for sound to start playing
old ears & damaged hearing makes TV dialog difficult for me. I was looking for a soundbar to improve dialog from a Sam Frame TV over our fireplace and evaluated most in this video. Then I called tech support from a major internet retailer and he asked me why didn't I just buy a Bose TV bar for a couple of hundred bucks. I did and it works very well for what I use it for - dialog.
I bought the M213ad-K8 last year based off of your recommendations and I love it. I’m looking to upgrade but again not break the bank. Is there something that is an upgrade to the M213ad-K8 that maybe has more all in one channels and a subwoofer? ( i don’t want any satellite speakers)
I am curious why Sennheiser Ambeo Max is not on this list? I know it is on the market for a while, but its quality, sound and bass are exceptional... Bought it a month ago and paired with Ambeo Sub and God... This is a true home theatre replacement!
I would love to see a review of the vizio elevate se (2024 version). You've tested the previous versions and I would like to see how they stack up (more so compared to previous versions).
Sony HT-A3000 250-Watt 3.1 Channel Sound Bar. Sony SA-SW3 200-Watt Wireless Subwoofer. 2 Sony SARS3S 100-Watt Wireless Bookshelf Speakers. $1,130 CAD, all in.
I am sooo so ready for the Klipsch Flexus Core 300 and its new atmos surrounds/sub. That’s all I’m waiting for. Onkyo guts with baby Dirac?! It’s a no brainer.
I am still wondering why there is that millisecond lag in the audio/visual for my Sony system? I have a new Bravia, Sony Receiver and even upgraded to a new Sony 4K blue-ray player The lag in the sync only happens when I play a blue-ray dvd. Regular dvds are all good, just blue-ray ones. I've tried to search to see what to adjust be it the tv settings but not sure.
I have the Q800c used for 200 buck, paired with samsung s90c TV. The Q990 is very expensive but I am very satisfied with the sound of Q800 as an alternative.
I’m sort of stuck between the Arc Ultra with the 300s or going with the Samsung 990D. I currently have a Beam with a Gen 3 sub. The attraction to the Samsung is the audio pass through which will give my old tv more life for a while since it only supports ARC right now. I’m seriously considering the Samsung S90D but possibly closer to the Super Bowl unless I see a stellar deal this week. I appreciate any thoughts or comments.
If samsung soundbar sound better than sonos arc ultra. Think about the subwoofer. Whether samsung subwoofer sounds better than sub gen 3. Sub gen 3 is a beast. Subwoofer is the heart of the home theater.
I was tossing up between the Sonos ultra and the 990d as an upgrade to an older Sony sound bar, surrounds and sub. Was gonna just try the arc ultra alone and see as reviews sound amazing. I didn't wanna get stuck being disappointed though needing to drop double the cash for surrounds and maybe woofer. Went the 990d in the end and really happy. Sound is great, sub deep and the options to adjust the voice and centre channel on the 990d is great. Light years better than my old Sony. Even if the Sonos sounded better, I can't imagine it would be worth the extra cash. Get the 990d.
I have a Vizio M512a with Dolby atmos I taped the subwoofer and added a amp aiyima and two 35 watt transducer to the bottom of my couch’s to heighten the movie experience
soundbars are great but if you want theater experience you need surround speakers the main problem with these or the Sony quad is... cables. If you have your tv in a livingroom you don't want cables going around left and right. If there is a good sound system for Atmos with remote speakers I would to see it and buy it.
Problem with the Sonos is no compatibility with the DTS codecs. Anyone with a Home Video collection may find this problematic as many Blu-rays opt for DTS
Caleb, do you know if the new Vizio soundbars still suffer from randomly turning off while connected to tv? Just curious as this is one of the most frustrating things about my SB3651. TIA.
Nice video and the shout out for Roku. I have the Roku Streambar Pro with 2 rears (powered), 2 extra front speakers and sub. Impressed with the build quality, esp the separate speakers. I downsized from a 5k surround system and I am shocked at the sound these are capable of putting out. Dialogue is on par with my old system, maybe a little better but I am in a smaller room. The surround sound quality varies with what I am streaming. Disney + and Max are the best and some surround effects will make you take notice, Netflix descent, Hulu not good. TH-cam tv surround is almost non existent.
Nice review! I'm looking at the Yamaha SR-B30A... it's currently at the same price point as the C20 in Canada. The B30 should be a better buy? Much appreciate your advice!
Currently, the Bose Smart Soundbar and the Vizio Elevate 5.1.2 Soundbar SE (SL512X-0806) are sitting at the same price of 399$ at Amazon, which one should I buy in this case? wil the extra speakers and bass from Vizio worth it?
So I bought this Phillips 5 speaker system and it was on sale for cheap. Then I bought a highly rated Vizio M51 and that Phillips blows the Vizio away!
A Cheap AVR with some good speakers which will last a lifetime. Would make a good sound bar sound bar sound pretty hopeless. In the real world. Enjoying your films and music too. : )
I've used a sony soundbar and it's been perfectly fine but I've always thought if you want the best longevity out of your devices, always go sonos because you can add pieces like a jigsaw and they are pretty good with backwards compatibility. Just can't say the same for their app.
Has the sonos debacle been fixed? I am talking specifically about the app and connecitivity issues that plaqued them from that app update this past year.
I recently bought the Vizio MSeries 5.1.2 Elevate 2022-2023 model. I think it sounds pretty damn good. Is the new 5.1.2 Elevate SE for 2024 any better sound wise? I beleive the older model has more speakers making me think the older one should actually sound better??
I got the arc, debating to upgrading to the ultra.. I have a sub and the 300s for rear speakers. I like the sound, but the surround sound I don't register. Not sure if it's because of the clutter in my room, or I expected miracles... I doubt the arc ultra will change that.
😂 good one. Sennheiser hasn't been good since they were so to a Chinese company three years ago. you might as well buy the cheapest available soundbar on wish and it would be miles better than Scamheiser
Missing out on Nakamichi! Currently have the Shockwafe Pro 7.1.4. I've been so impressed over the years that I just purchased the ultra 9.2.4 and will be receiving it in a few days! Super excited!
I got the Shockwave ultra and I've had it for awhile now and i love it I'm waiting now for the dragon I've heard this thing rocks the house I can't wait...
Hi, thanks for the list, that was very helpfull. Unfortunately Vizio is not present in the European market, do you have some recommendations for us on the same price range?
I love Soundbar vids. I’m always looking at better options for stuff I already have that works just fine 😵💫. Eh, what are you going to do. We have two nice Vizio systems that do great jobs for each room, and nothing will ever replace our M&K system I built 20 years ago for the main setup. Still, these are so cool. Nice job. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
I got the LG S90TR due to keeping with my LG C3 compatibility and WOW Orchestra and the surround speakers. I think it is decent value over the LG S95TR, otherwise I would have gone for the Polk Audio Mini AX or ( the Magnifi MAX AX SR)
I've wanted to add on a sound bar for some time but have always been concerned with potential lag. Are some systems better than others to prevent lag? What do I look for while shopping? I own a LG C3 and wonder what's my best option for under $750?
It's interesting that a certain mythical creature didn't get a notable mention in..... was the long-term findings for the dragon no good? Has the dragon been slayed by various competitors??
I know it has its fans, but the Dragon just doesn't make a lot of sense to me - it's as expensive, or more so depending on how you configure it, as a really decent AV receiver setup that will out-perform any sound bar setup, but is still as bulky and intrusive as the AVR option. I think compared to any of the "high end" sound bar options on this list, it's just got much more limited market appeal - and probably for the level of ugly it introduces to your living space, it's just not got the performance to forgive it.
@@Beer_Dad1975And let’s not forget that several well known reviewers had major critiques of it not delivering anywhere near the originally promised performance, and a level of user interface that might have been groundbreaking a decade ago.
@@fonkenful Yes that was the impression I got from most reviews - at least before they introduced the insanely expensive 12" sub options. Really seems like they promised the sky, but didn't quite deliver, except on the sky high pricing.
I was wondering why LG soundbars seem to get little to no coverage. Except for the videos where creators were sponsored to cover them… I personally own the DS95TR and love it! It’s comparable to the Samsung 990C, it also comes with the sub and satellite speakers in one box.
I am going for the Hisense AX5125H because it suits my budget and for a mid range soundbar and subwoofer it appears to be receiving impressive reviews. If I had a grand I would get the JBL 1300.
I returned mine because the bass was nonexistent, and hi-concerto doesn't work, at least in the USA as of now, according to customer support. But the clarity and height of sound are amazing. You'll hear everything but won't feel anything.
No shit. This guy creaming his jeans over the Dragon at CES or whatever is what made me buy one and he doesn't even put it on this list. I wasted thousands of dollars and the Dragon is back in the box waiting to sell on FB Marketplace because my separates sound better (no surrounds, I've decided I don't care about surrounds.)
What do you think of the Samsung HW-Q700D 3.1.2ch 2024 - just looking for a decent dolby atmos soundbar to enjoy movies in my bedroom without breaking the bank (this will be paired with my lg c2 + apple tv 4k 2023)
Got the Q990C and couldn't be happier, paired with the S95C its been fantastic.
I have the same setup! Is amazing
Q990C with S90C for me. Insanely good setup

Can't you guys review this: Hisense U5120GW+
Hisense 7.1.2 CH Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer
Thanks !
Finally. I've been waiting for this video
@@venkatesh760 you’re saying go with the 990D then? Just making sure I understood 😅
Samsung is a complete package at the cost of sonos bar.
@@glennthompson6754 absolutely
I have a Vizio M512a with Dolby atmos I taped the subwoofer and added a amp aiyima and two 35 watt transducer to the bottom of my couch’s to heighten the movie experience
I most likely will never buy a soundbar but I still watch
😱 so you just use the sound from the tv??? That should be illegal 😮
@@drueckglueck9918 Or, might use an actual surround sound setup :)
Hey just wondering where can I get that stand you have for the Q990D speakers??
2:51 Polyphia 🙌
What do you recommend for speakers to work with yamaha sr-c2oa?Thankyou!
Thanks Caleb your timing couldn’t have been better!
soundbars are great but if you want theater experience you need surround speakers the main problem with these or the Sony quad is... cables. If you have your tv in a livingroom you don't want cables going around left and right. If there is a good sound system for Atmos with remote speakers I would to see it and buy it.
Will the yamaha sr-c2oa work with roku wireless surround sound speakers?Thankyou!
Currently, the Bose Smart Soundbar and the Vizio Elevate 5.1.2 Soundbar SE (SL512X-0806) are sitting at the same price of 399$ at Amazon, which one should I buy in this case? wil the extra speakers and bass from Vizio worth it?
supposedly bose one is actually pretty bad, do some extra research
perfect timing 🎉 thank you!!
So I bought this Phillips 5 speaker system and it was on sale for cheap. Then I bought a highly rated Vizio M51 and that Phillips blows the Vizio away!
Is the Vizio SV510X-0806 in Amazon the same as SV510M-0806 in Best Buy ?
A Cheap AVR with some good speakers which will last a lifetime. Would make a good sound bar sound bar sound pretty hopeless. In the real world. Enjoying your films and music too. : )
Yeah, the soundbar fans need to wake up and buy a real system.. then they will start shietposting like the rest of us lol
I really enjoy your reviews. Do you have a link to the TV stand you are using?
I've used a sony soundbar and it's been perfectly fine but I've always thought if you want the best longevity out of your devices, always go sonos because you can add pieces like a jigsaw and they are pretty good with backwards compatibility. Just can't say the same for their app.
Has the sonos debacle been fixed? I am talking specifically about the app and connecitivity issues that plaqued them from that app update this past year.
The best cinnamon rolls are Allison robicellis brown butter cinnamon rolls. I make them all the time. They're worth the time they take.
It would be nice if they allowed the option to use them as a passive speaker so you could use them with an existing avr and speakers.
No thanks 😂
Just build your own.. an avr would overpower these anyways.
Waiting on a s90d and wondering how much id have to spen on audio to get an upgrade versus the onboard speakers
Isn’t the sennheiser ambeo max better than any of the ones mentioned in this video?
Yeah! Those are the best! Just wish they supported Google.
I got the Shockwave ultra and I've had it for awhile now and i love it I'm waiting now for the dragon I've heard this thing rocks the house I can't wait...
@@eloritetitus2376 The reviews I have seen of the Dragon have panned it as not being remotely worth the price being asked.
How do you like it? Buddy of mine returned his, was pretty sub par for the price tag..
@FJB2020 it's really nice I had it for about 4 years now and it still hits hard I'm ready for the dragon now😆
hi, I looking to purchase the TCL S643w 3.1 soundbar. Would u recommend it. Any thoughts guys. Really unsure here.
If i have already a sonos one and i miss a soundbar, its better to go with the one of sonos as well right?
thanks Caleb, I'll probably go with the Bose 👍
Hi, thanks for the list, that was very helpfull. Unfortunately Vizio is not present in the European market, do you have some recommendations for us on the same price range?
How does the JBL 1000 soundbar line up with these?
Proud owner of the Q990D. 😎
I checked your review and also of a Samsung tv and that is why my wallet does not like you very much lol
Wheres the Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 9 with 13 speaker?
Soundbars really make a difference. I picked up an inexpensive refurbished one from Bose web site.
Now, I am thinking of getting a better one.
Nice job. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
i have a question does a sound bar play along with the tv or all the audio?
I got the LG S90TR due to keeping with my LG C3 compatibility and WOW Orchestra and the surround speakers. I think it is decent value over the LG S95TR, otherwise I would have gone for the Polk Audio Mini AX or ( the Magnifi MAX AX SR)
Wondering If you've ever tested the Samsung HW-S800D and your thoughts? Thanks Caleb!
I've wanted to add on a sound bar for some time but have always been concerned with potential lag. Are some systems better than others to prevent lag? What do I look for while shopping? I own a LG C3 and wonder what's my best option for under $750?
For higher-tier audio:
Samsung 60C-600C-800C-801B-801D
LG SC9S
Sonos Arc-Beam 2-Ray (supposedly frustratingly messy app these days)
Vizio Elevate-M512e K6
I want to try that Sony sound system so bad, the price is so high but from all the reviews I've seen, it seems like it's worth it
Not for us brokies 😂
what is the difference between HDMI 2.1 2.1a and 2.1b? Will an LG C9 display the full output of the PS5 Pro?
I love the lg soundbars
I was wondering why LG soundbars seem to get little to no coverage. Except for the videos where creators were sponsored to cover them…
I personally own the DS95TR and love it! It’s comparable to the Samsung 990C, it also comes with the sub and satellite speakers in one box.
Hello, Thank you for your detailed reviews. Can you also review some of the LG sound bars ?
wasnt the Flexus Core 200 better than bose 600 or sonos beam by itself?
Beam>600>Flexus
Samsung Q990D looks bigger than Q930C. I am looking for my 55inch TV. Is it still worth to go with Q990D with 55 inch tv?
I am going for the Hisense AX5125H because it suits my budget and for a mid range soundbar and subwoofer it appears to be receiving impressive reviews.
If I had a grand I would get the JBL 1300.
I returned mine because the bass was nonexistent, and hi-concerto doesn't work, at least in the USA as of now, according to customer support. But the clarity and height of sound are amazing. You'll hear everything but won't feel anything.
Just curious.. no Nakamichi dragon??
@@Jedi71 A lot of the hands-on reviews were not impressed by the Dragon give the premium price being charged for it.
@@erwalkercaCorrect. But those came out after I bought it. Except one. Digital Trends.
@@Jedi71how much you want?
@@Jedi71my buddy returned his. It was extremly disappointing..
What model are the white speakers at 9:38 ?
What do you think of the Samsung HW-Q700D 3.1.2ch 2024 - just looking for a decent dolby atmos soundbar to enjoy movies in my bedroom without breaking the bank (this will be paired with my lg c2 + apple tv 4k 2023)
I also had an LG QP5 which was atrocious to say the least
