Robin, you need some kind of a crazy scene in that new blue train. Take advantage of those large windows and the fact that it’s stationary so we can appreciate it.
Great city update!!! I wouldn’t have ever thought of adding an other tram. Sooo good and unexpected. Talking of unexpected things the “little” disaster was sooooooooo funny 😄😆! Good the new blue one did NOT fall off as that would have been hard to find all the pieces - and a potential fairground disaster. JJ Field
We just rewatched it - it’s even funnier with the utter sense of self-assurance… “There’s no point even testing….” “… there’s just no way they will crash…”
A number of places have former Churches that have become pubs or clubs. The methodist Church in my town is becoming some sort of community events centre. A childhood friend of mine had (and probably still has) the space LEGO monorail. I was so jealous.
That blue next to that yellow station is quite nice 👍. Great choice of limited color! The orange tram driver must have seen the disgruntled blue driver and said oh yeah 💥 Boom.
Love the blue tram, great color choice! Was waiting for one of your funny minifigure stories or scene to accompany it. Maybe add some idiot tram surfer with a friend filming it from the station?
Why not use some 2 x 4 printed or stickered plates to put some advertising along the sides of the trams above the windows? This would also disguise the difference in the orange and blue tiles.
Great to see more public transport expansion! Good that the collision ended with little damage ;) Btw, maybe as the next step a bendy-bus somewhere on the road? I used to make such with crêpe paper as the articulated element.
Seeing you swapping the tram color to blue made me remember when I converted the tram from 8404 to a elevated metro/subway train. Due to available parts, I made 2 copies of it in red easily, but it was a pain to even finish the first in blue because the lack of the top slopes. 😅
Don't know if you have more monorail switches, but you should add a passing track somewhere further down the line so the trams wouldn't have to wait at the far end. Since in real life it would be really inefficient
Not sure if there is anywhere one would fit along the windmill wall due to the facades and space requirements of the piece but if so that would probably be the best place to put one. Or maybe one could be under repair or construction at the far end near the park? I don't quite remember how it ends near that staging area lot by the bridge.
Like the amendment to the lighthouse red band. I buy parts from lego website all the time in replacement parts. Takes ages! Love your lego city and videos. I have several builds in my own city that are inspired from yours.
That almost turned into a real life Lego City advert, LOL! Love the new colours and where the tram is placed. I like the idea of the moving one using the longer route. I am sure its a lot of work, but will be cool if now and then you swap them around so the blue one drives around.
Great update again, Robin! I really like the idea of two separate monorail tram lines (the orange line and the blue line, perhaps?) converging onto one shared track. I had a couple ideas for how you might expand on the concept. First, I would love to see you try your hand at setting up a signal system protecting the junction. A signal arm could be cantilevered off the bottom of the light rail track and have a signal head with red and green lights at the location each tram would stop while waiting for the junction to clear, so you really could have the blue tram waiting at the proverbial red light! The second would be to make it appear like the blue tram had somewhere to go besides just terminating somewhere “in” the second standing hole. Maybe a piece of track could run from the edge of the standing hole on the right hand side, with a blue-accented stop for the “Financial District” near the Brick Bank. Then it could end at the wall (or closet door) where the rest of the line gets “guillotined”. The second idea might not be as easy as the first (especially given the height of the buildings at the righthand edge of the standing hole) but I think both would really enhance the look of two tram lines converging onto shared track!
I think using a sign to indicate there is something beyond where the track terminates is a good idea. Maybe something at the nearby station if nothing else?
I really love the new tram. The blue is indeed really pretty! Maybe a suggestion is to add some signaling to the track switch to make the waiting scene ever more clear?
Great addition to the city!! When you started the video I thought that the blue tram was from that Main square set, but that one is yellow and it is a different tram. The orange one is my favorite tram and that set is superb as you eloquently put it. The blue one you built looks amazing, very well done!
I love it ! , I think it would be nice to extend the tram station over the road so it can be used either as a pedestrian bridge over the road and as tram station, maybe somewhat connected to the train station. All the best!
Great build! I like where you have it...if you had it on the other track, it would block all the cool buildings! And I saw you say you wanted to test it and I almost screamed "you didn't turn the switch!" and seeing it lunge, I thought you lost the blue one, lol!
We have a similar kind of tram lay-up here in The Hague, great way off filling up some rail-estate with a pop of blue! Maybe a traffic sign on red next to it, if you have a spare stud on that rails somewhere?
@@RobinHoodBricks could make a really funny scene of someone trying to board with a grand piano (or something else clearly oversized) And that's what's causing the hold up
Always love seeing your city updates, and this was such a smart addition! Especially paying attention to the little details like finding a way to create a new number for the blue tram! The added bit of action at the end was great too, the city must be grateful to have a benevolent god ready to save the day!! 🎉
For keeping the blue tram onto the tracks, how about using 1 by 3 plates in the circular holes on either side at the bottom of the 4 x 4 plates you used? I might be wrong, but this way there might be just enough space between the two 1 by 3 plates to keep the tram more tightly on he track!
Maybe a sign on a tile of the associated color, or even just a color accent on the station itself like on the roof area that is currently grey. That's a great idea would also allow a third color to be applied at the airport terminal and maybe the mall to show that they are served by another tram that we don't see operating more in the cutoff are of the city. Maybe it could be that bright pink one that almost was? ;p
i have 2 possible suggestions regarding the tram track: 1, at the straight siding at the end of the track build some sort of construction site for the expansion of the tram line, you could possibly put this in the theme park section if you lack space on the table the tram line is at to make it look like an expansion, or 2, try and recreate the "2020 Rotterdam metro accident" with the blue tram hanging off the end of either sidings like it ran of the tracks, maybe also resting on a statue like the metro did.
In my mind the straight track continues on but is just cut off by the standing hole. I could have it reappear on another side to make that point clearer but the buildings have all been chopped so it must be too!
Another thing you could do is connect 2 trams to the moving line, as often lines with high traffic volume connect the trams together instead of having 2 trains!
@@RobinHoodBricks Oh, right. Although, when I mentioned the turntable, I meant the turntable would be used to sort the engines between the different doors of the shed, not simply to turn it around. Either way, AWESOME!!!
As always, great color choice. I love this new blue tram. Have you ever tried to enlarge the central part of the tram ? I did it on mine but it doesn't roll so I don't have to worry about whether it can still go up and down and turn like yours...
No I haven't but I don't think it'd work on the slopes as it's practically at its limit now. The tops pretty much touch. They could be moved a stud further apart but then it'd look gappy. Also the tram is already too long for every platform!
I was waiting for the orange tram to push the blue one straight off 😀 Excellent work with a simple colour swap. And the church pub is always a good one to frequent
As the cut line between the 6 and the 27 can be clearly seen, what about cutting between all the digits (also in the original train) to make it look like there are three "digit panels"? And I would move the blue one further away from the station and maybe add a signal (at around the height of the track?).
Well.... as someone who made a monorail a central part of my city, I love this particular update!! What a great idea. I also have one of those Y-curves in my city with a similar situation where it a side line goes off to nothing... maybe I could do something like this! Great inspiration Robin! It's awesome that you kept that collision portion in here -- that indeed was both amusing and scary! But, looks awesome and feels pretty realistic.
I just got a monorail track in a bulk lot. Sadly, it did not include the motor and boogies. You gave me a great idea, how I can make a moc tram to incorporate into my city! ❤ Cheers!
Blue and orange is an awesome color combination. And the sharks look sooooo much better going around now 👍 I'd do them without the Dr. Inferno stickers. Puts more emphasis on the frigging lasers.
Need a signal for the tram junction showing red, or a flag (whatever signalling you prefer) telling the blue tram the route is not cleared for progress.
@Robin Hood Bricks The joyful panic in your voice when you noticed what was about to happen made my day and surprisingly you didn't have to sound edit the video
You could always have the blue tram "broken down". Add a scene where some mechanics are hanging off the track trying to fix it, perilously close to falling off into the road into an ambulance 😂
hhmm... maybe a decal tip. use a plant sprayer with just water and few drop of dishwasher and than putting your decals and wait couple hours and it give more clean look. also try to squese most water under the decals and airbubbles.
Might want to look into some kind of buffer system. So just in case. It ever happens. The orange tram will not push the blue one off the tracks. Any train fans out there knows. if a point switch is not change correctly. it can cause Confusion And Delay. Also blue tram needs a nickname after almost getting pushed off the tracks.
In world there is no buffer as the tram track goes onwards past and through the standing hole. It makes it dangerous and that's fun. Does the orange one have a nickname? We may need two!
I like the blue tram better, I think it would look better with the tram have the motor and the orange one just sitting there. There was a blue tram in set 8404 public transport set.
I wish I had mile plate roads to add tram track s into my roads .for my tram and I tottaly love to build some custom tram s like one we have in Melbourne Australia the city is well known for its tram s that still run some of the old school green one s but now we got mostly the new tram s and it trippy thay are sorta like the look of Theas push tram s but white with a lime green grafic design on them I got that same sticker sheet .😊 I was trying to think what set is it from .as I had forgotten .thanks for reminding me Robin 😊👍 now you showed it in this vid 😊
I appreciate the sensible amount of pantographs 😂 . The mudguards could be white or light grey for even more contrast ? Lovely update as usual, somehow I am always surprised by the themes you manage to bring even now
Beautiful tram! Also, could it be possible to add the power lines up top? It could be a cool detail to make the pantographs look like they’re working, but could also cause a lot of bulk and make it too busy around the rail, but might be worth trying out
most monorails in real life source their electricity from power lines in the track so it doesn't make much realistic sense to have the pantographs in the first place!
Wow…….I’m a bit disgruntled…….I was one (maybe of many) who suggested putting the white strip underneath the top of the Lighthouse…….yet I , or (we)…..didn’t get a badoing….???
That bit of break between the numbers could just be the LCD display having an issue. Not uncommon to see on mass transit around here. With the blue tram being in a constant high visibility space, it could be a prime place for a scene. Perhaps some figures looking toward the mall or transit cafe longingly. Others maybe disgruntled at the delay or having to use the bathroom. Maybe some trying to entertain themselves like kids on a stuck school bus. Minifigs at the nearby station could be reacting too. Or maybe a hat or mechanical issue with the track switch a worker is taking care of? Or you could do an open panel effect on one of the ends like they had to do an emergency repair? Or a spiderman homage by putting a regular lego spider on one end of the stuck tram- maybe stuck on one of the studs on the arch above the window. Maybe on the end that almost when off the end of the track? ;p Another option if you want it to be delayed due to a mechanical error, you could have a cherry picker or firetruck with a ladder helping get people out of the stuck tram. Not sure if there is some kind of separate tow vehicle for trams that could be involved. If stability becomes an issue you could put the blue tram at the mall or airport loading a wheel chair with a ramp thing to kind of clip it to a station. That could serve as a tram in the process of loading/unloading.
What are your thoughts on replacing some of the 2bys for “pseudo wheels” with “24201 Slope Curved 2 x 1 Inverted.” That would give a little more of a wheel look that would still be fairly inexpensive.
The orange line to brick Beeston doesn't like the the blue line from brick gelding getting into it's territory. That's why it tried to kill the tram. TRAM WARS!!!!!! Yay!!!!!
Since the new tram is blue, it is to bad you can't find trans yellow or trans red windows for it to reference either classic space or classic space police.
@Robin Hood Bricks I disagree, think it would look great especially if you went with the space police option because it is already black and blue. But it was just a thought, I'm big fan of classic space police and all those crazy space themes of the past, make lego great again.

@@RobinHoodBricks There is a set with a blue tram actually. 8404 I believe.
I like the blue tram better, I think it would look better with the tram have the motor and the orange one just sitting there. There was a blue tram in set 8404 public transport set.
There was. I never had that one. No need as I think the orange one works better with the monorail base. Swapping them over would be easy enough!
That new tram in the Christmas set could be converted to monorail. Might be interesting, but too wide for my setup!
@@RobinHoodBricks yeer that one could work true .oh true as you got stuff close to the tracks
I appreciate the sensible amount of pantographs 😂 . The mudguards could be white or light grey for even more contrast ? Lovely update as usual, somehow I am always surprised by the themes you manage to bring even now
Thanks so much. I've always got about twenty videos in development so lots of variety!
"All I asked for was freakin' sharks with freakin lasers attached to their heads!"
Well quite!
Yikes! Wasn't expecting the tram SPAD incident at the end! 😬🙈
Neither was I!
should of put a fire crew under it. and a ladder. like it had broken down. and there trying to get the passengers out XD
Is it broken down? I guess the lights are out!
This is a real nice addition!
"Is the tram gonna touch"
The tram did indeed touch
Haha, yes. Silly me!
17:25 that was funny when I saw that it crashed 😂 🤣 😅 😆
Haha, yes!
Wow…….I’m a bit disgruntled…….I was one (maybe of many) who suggested putting the white strip underneath the top of the Lighthouse…….yet I , or (we)…..didn’t get a badoing….???
I suggested it myself in the original lighthouse video. No Badoiings for agreeing!
There should ad signs on the trams, you already have the studs on the top
Adverts on the black bricks? I guess I could!
@@RobinHoodBricks i mean on orange or blue top / roof. You know where the studs are different on the blue tram
Maybe on the end that almost when off the end of the track? ;p
Another option if you want it to be delayed due to a mechanical error, you could have a cherry picker or firetruck with a ladder helping get people out of the stuck tram. Not sure if there is some kind of separate tow vehicle for trams that could be involved.
If stability becomes an issue you could put the blue tram at the mall or airport loading a wheel chair with a ramp thing to kind of clip it to a station. That could serve as a tram in the process of loading/unloading.
one day it would be cool to have fully custom trams
Maybe, but I've got a soft spot for these trams. They form an early part of my city's journey!
You should change the seats in the orange tram to orangeso it matches the color of the tram
They don't make orange seats sadly. Good idea though!
Maybe near the platform at the station you could put a red signal light where the tram is stopped.😀👍
35k subscriber special should be the orange one pushing the blue one off 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Onto a cushion, maybe!
Yay!!!!!
17:22 Now we why the blue tram driver is mad.
Maybe they hate each other!
Did I already see those two teams crashing into each other when you made the test round in your lego city
This is the first time I've had two trams!
Since the new tram is blue, it is to bad you can't find trans yellow or trans red windows for it to reference either classic space or classic space police.
Although cool in one respect, that would look awful, haha!
@Robin Hood Bricks I disagree, think it would look great especially if you went with the space police option because it is already black and blue. But it was just a thought, I'm big fan of classic space police and all those crazy space themes of the past, make lego great again.
Hi Robin the 60097 I got that city set to great set. That one .the Lego shop I made it a 3 story Lego shop 😊.. I started trying to build more tram caridge s .but I have to wight till I got my own house as where I am now as I don't have monorail tracks I built to sky cable carts .so going to do a sky cable to be diffrent .The other push tram is the blue one I'm Shaw from city transport city set
Yeah it's from 8404!
Great job
Much appreciated!
Robin you should add a signal to make it look like it is waiting to pass
I'd put some sign of EOL for the blue tram's rail
Not sure what you mean!
@@RobinHoodBricks A tram buffer.
Your city is looking great
Thanks so much!
