I really like the old one, but this one is at a whole new level! It looks better with the higher ceiling, better view in the carriage and overall looks a thousand times better especially with the white lines on the glass pieces. And for Monday, do the fairground, I just need to see it done.

I personally couldn't use this car at all because I build my trains 8 studs wide. You'd be surprised how much more commanding 2 studs of width (Accompanied by the corresponding increases in height and length) makes a train look, along with how much more detailed you can make your trains at that scale.

Robin, will you ever collect the parts needed for two 10233, the Lego TGV? Perhaps with a couple of extra wagons, say two to four? That way you can add in some older highspeed train. Gives you more train clips to post.
I've considered it once or twice but it's a lot of money for just an orange fast train when I have a few others. I even did the Jakobs bogies on my latest lime train. So, like the Maersk one, I think I'll pass!

I do love both observation cars but I do feel like this new one needs to have the canopy parts spread apart further and more glass added. It's to bad they didn't make those arch pieces in the trans black color. As for a support for the spongy floor, couldn't you use a 2x2 inverted slope on each side in the middle to hold up the floor. I know it may take away from the exterior detailing so it's probably better the way you have it. Yet another amazing build. Great job and keep up the amazing work.

7:55 I personally would have built the interior first seeing how hard it is to get that fully built second level in. I would have made the tiles a 4x1 on both sides to give the big windows something more to grab onto ,but that's just me.

@@RobinHoodBricks ok. I guess it’s different over there. In Canada we only have a few trains with observation cars on them. I have only travelled by train once in my life. From Toronto, Ontario to Saint John. New Brunswick. That’s about 1000 kms, but it took 27 hours because they stopped at every town and village on the route. Anyway….the only observation cars I have seen has been watching videos about the trains that travel through the Rocky Mountains in Western Canada. Some of them seem to put the observation car at the very end of the train, while the the first and second class accommodations are divided by the two dining cars, one for each class respectively. My wife and I had a dream of taking the train clear across Canada (6521 km) with stops in 4-5 major cites for a day or two. A travel agent worked up a price our trip… it would have cost $26,000 CDN…….our dream quickly faded away…….lol……….
For the cargo train may I suggest a velociraptor cage with about 3 velociraptors inside the cage or well something else with dinosaurs Or for an alternate if you don’t want to do the velociraptor cage an aquarium car would also be great
The space between the Ferrari tower and the fairground is a perfect spot to put a yard where they build trains, so you can deliver train pieces there as you collect them. It would add some function to the city
Robin, look for train front part 45706pb01 and 2917 You only need to put in a plate to cover the nose gap, but it does give you a very particular train nose, that also gives you a roof that is at-least one brick higher. Almost somekinda bird head/nose, that way. Might let you make your own take on the Bullet-train, if so wanted.
Yes, I'm aware of both of those. I think my Zeppelin Train was instead of a bullet train. At least, the two are very similar at the front but mine has a propellor at the back as well!

Though t is a set that screams for heavy modifications, like a TGV like bougie(?) setup, as in the passengier wagons are sharing their bougies, while the ends and the locomotive units are using a standaard bougie setup (which lets you use six engines if so wanted). Do wonder if the larger double deck wagon baseplates (like the one used in this clip), could hold more then one battery box or not. Mad one, right? Yet evolution is also a nice thing. The rail-plane of yours, has a similar nose to the Shinkansen(?) Zero/0. This would let you create a Shinkansen type 100 nose, which both the TGV & ICE come close to as well. I really like this. I recently rediscovered my I’v 1st lego train set (4558) that I got when it was new playing with my old legos with my kids that’s I’ve made modifications on turning it into power functions and building and 2nd standard car and 2 club cars (4547). I also built a baggage car moc and put a motor in the back engine. But I really like the builds you’ve done think I’ll try to do design a custom passenger car using one of these as inspiration.
I think it would be nice if you stood someone up and gave them a camera or a selfie stick. Almost like there taking a photo or livestreaming. Edit: Do you have one of the 2x6x2 weighted bricks in the train above the motor? I would give it more traction at the start.
i got the lego train also for Christmas when i came out and it somehow didn’t have the train motor in the set and i was not ever able to get it but all the other electronics were in it

Personally I love both the Dome Car and Observation Car equally! Personally I feel the Dome Car is more social, stand up and go ooo and ahhh what a nice place, while the Observation Card is more casual, a slightly nicer view but more calm and quiet. My personally opinion and this is just me alone, I feel the two cars shouldn't be next to each other but instead at least either at opposite ends for each other or at least have one car between them more in the middle.
Congratulations on hitting 25K! And a great and fitting celebratory build. Is there still enough clearance to add a few tiles on top of the middle bit? I would suggest a handful of grille tiles if they will fit.

I have a few of those bases (Train base 6 x 34 Split level without Bottom tubes) and I have made a carriage with one before, the only thing is that i don’t have enough bogeys (I hope I spelt that right and not like the green and sticky stuff) for it, so I cannibalise from other trains. And I believe I built it while watching your double decker video.
Seems odd to have the 1st Class windows not on one end with the bike windows on the other. Trains would normally advertise one specific area as bike accessible.

Just do like washing up for cleaning. A laundry bag helps for small bits. For staining try an ultra sonic bath or Hydrogen peroxide and uv light. Test one brick first. Results may be mixed!

The windscreen for the dome actually looked easier to curve to reach the flat roof than the original Double Decker Observation Car.

Yes, LEGO hasn't quite mastered white printing to match white bricks!

The windows don't really grab there. The only real connection point is at the back, near the middle of my build!

hiya Robin congrats on the 25k. Just got my old 80's lego out of the loft and its filthy (especially the white) what is the best product to try and get it clean before I sort it. many thanks Andy
Just do like washing up for cleaning. A laundry bag helps for small bits.
For staining try an ultra sonic bath or Hydrogen peroxide and uv light. Test one brick first. Results may be mixed!

It feels very old, I think it would look better with the 2006 train instead.
