After your 'new lime' train window...I feel like you could move the arrow assembly up another 2 more studs to get a little more of the lime color out of the train. Brilliant mate!
One amendment to suggest - since the driver in the cab car isn’t actually doing anything, give her a mug of tea. She can be just sitting, relaxing, watching the scenery go by out the back of the train.
Great mods, Robin! You're right - the other Window definitely works well in that front space on the loco's for sure. Cab car mod is solid. Well done. :)
There will be a new major addition to the monorail soon and I'll show it in full. The stations have to be simple to incorporate the big clunky switch pieces!

1) The real world heavy rail where I live in utah actually does have some of that up-down between double decker cars, so I actually really like what you've done with it. 2) I do think you should try and keep at least one of the double decker cars disability accessible. It's one of the coolest real-world improvements that Lego has been incorporating, in my opinion, as it's again reflective of the real world trains that I ride. Super cool! Looking great Robin, and I think you need to stay with what you want. It is your train and city, so build for what you yourself like most . Keep on bricking it up Robin 👍.
Great job on the mods to the the cab car. I really like the different lime green windows. It definitely looks way better in the build than just the transparent black panel piece. I'd say that was a successful mod for sure! Fantastic video. Loving your ideas for modding this train for sure.
What a great modification! This train is looking really nice and honestly, the cab car and the motor car look almost identical. They look very seamless and fit well together. Overall this train is looking so stunning and I can't wait for what else you do to this amazing train!
@@RobinHoodBricks That said I'm more of a fan of 2 power cars. My train doesn't have a pantograph as it's intended to be a diesel train. Brilliant video, can't wait to see the full double-decker train!
@@RobinHoodBricks I have not, mostly been watching your 60337 videos. I just was lucky enough to be able to buy a couple. I like your mods youve done on them!
I think you could go either way with the pantograph. In the UK there's not a lot of examples of having a driving trailer (which is UK terminology for 'cab car') on an electric train and the most well known example on the east coast route didn't have them I think. Most electric trains have motors on multiple coaches nowadays. But I think in other countries the driving trailers have pantographs.
Also, it's a bit daft to debate the realism of pantograph Vs no pantograph when there's no overhead wires in Brick Nottingham! (Not suggesting that you should put them in though.) Perhaps the transport authorities in Brick Nottingham are engaging in a bit of greenwashing and putting pantographs on diesel trains? 😉
Thanks for that. Not sure I like the term driving trailer. It sounds contradictory, haha. The next issue is that without a pantograph the locomotive needs either a rotating one or a pair presumably? Maybe I'll put it back on here!
Suggestions: 1. Change the headlights on the end car to red instead of blue 2. Can you add a door on the side of the cockpit (where the windows are) similar to those you made for the double-decker carriages for the driver to get on and off the train?
Or even just puting a 2 length brick at the bottom of the window so the vertical lines of that bit hint at a possible door? The alterations look much better- and the lime windows being a different style helps distinguish the conductor area from the passenger area with just that bit of variety.
if I'd want to have the piece with the speed sticker, can i get a shorter 1 stud wise brick, then add a black arch piece like the one behind, then behind add a 2x1 black brick? Also, with the windows being replaced with plane ones and them now being closer, maybe you can make them doors to get in the cab, although i don’t know if that’s accurate
The end you built is technically a control-car when it comes to inter-city trains, such as the TGV, ICE, Shinkansen, Acela (Gen 1, and Gen 2). they come in two types, of course, the "power-car" which is the locomotive, and the cab-control car, which is a coach with the controls at the opposite end. A cab-car, as you meant to call your cab-control car, is VERY similar to it's passenger counter parts. The Amtrak Surf-liner cab cars, Metro cab-cars, and Trinity cab-cars all have this in common. They are modified production, or retrofit versions of existing platforms, normally NOT built to facilitate the means of HSR (High Speed Rail). Cab cars also rely on the stand-alone coaches (Amtrak's double-deck cars & Amtrak's Surf-liner cars are again prime examples) to transmit power via MU (multiple unit) cables to it via each of the coaches. In the case in which cab-cars are used, almost ALL are stand-alone units that can independently be assigned to a completely different train, rather than be assigned solely to one train. More train facts...BTW, on a scale of 10, including modifications, what would you rate this set to someone looking to buy it?
You could make it different from the one by turning it into a driving van trailer. (DVT) it’s a British purpose built driving trailer they resemble locomotives specifically class 90 the 82/1 mark 3 series and class 91 for the 82/2 mark 4 series. They do not carry passengers accommodation due to health and safety rules in place at the time of construction that prohibited passengers in the leading cars that run faster than 100 miles per hour. It was believed that a train would unstable at high speeds unless pulled from the front. Instead they carried luggage and baggage.
Possible silly mod, but would it be feasible to raise the pantograph up on the locomotive - at the moment it looks as if the head is lower than your double decker carriages at anything other than absolute full stretch, so the loco could never reach the overhead electric line.
A good idea but, to be honest, it can't go higher than my double decker as they just scrape through my tunnels and bridges as it is. Maybe the wires are crazy close, haha!
The double decker idea is great! But, what if you make 2x2 connecting, so two cars combined with each a slope on the end, but connecting without sloping down?
I'm not sure about British high-speed-trains like the intercity 225, but the Acela in the U.S. Has 2 pantographs on each power car, and when the train is moving, only one pantograph on each power car is up, with the pantographs that were up going down and the ones that were down going up when the train switches directions. Maybe you should think about mounting the pantograph from this set onto the locomotive in a down position to model that. I think it would look good.
@@Baconbs718 Interesting. I take it a "driving van trailer" is essentially your version of a cab car, in that it's a passenger car with a driving cab at one end that's MUed to the locomotive so the driver/engineer can control the train from the other end? But presumably in the 225's case it looks more like a class 91 than a regular passenger car.
Have you thought about getting rid of the cab door for the driver on the outside, build a foe door for the driver on the inside, and then move the arrow 4 studs closer to the cockpit? You’d have to change the lime green 1x6 curved slope but I’m sure if you wanted to you could pull it off
The woman in the rear of the train could possibly be the guard/dispatcher? They normally sit in the rear cab of trains like this and are on almost all trains in the uk.
Suggestion: will be great to add a kind of integrated door handle with a shaft and modified 1x1 plates (to hold the shaft) , close to your new window, so, the driver can help himself to go down or up into the cabin, I mean it should be integrated of the body of the train, I do not have the train yet, and I do know if you have enough room to do it! (sorry fort my english as it is not my mother tongue!) By the way, your channel is awesome! Thanks for the work done!
Merci bien. Your English is great by the way. I think I will have driver doors as a future modification. I'm not sure about a shaft though as it would be hidden when in motion I would think. Something textural would be good though!
@@RobinHoodBricks you could use 2 part number: 30241b (that exist in lime) offset half a stud to hold a black, or grey bar , that would probably give texture
13:46 it actually is realistic. in canada there is a public transportation line call GO and not only do the have the same up-down up-down motion, but its green. although the cars are all double decker, they are not dome cars, with there only being windows on the side. still i think the two are rather similar, although im not sure if GO has been implementing domes to their cars. Plus the back cars, old cars or new, are cab cars.
Great video as always! great modifications. You could potentially improve even further to make the window look like a door by moving it half a stud inside. And it looks like you can make that big lime area even one stud shorter :).
Very nice upgrade. I wish Lego would include cab cars in all their standard sets so you could buy full trains (like my old Lima 125 from when I was a kid). I think if you want to reduce the limeyness maybe you could add some graffiti stickers. Do you have the sticker sheet from the friends pizza restaurant? I think the graffiti on the bin was designed for a green bin so might look good on the green train
@@RobinHoodBricks Hmmm, i see. What are your thoughts on the new grocery store? Picked it up yesterday, along with the train station, amusement park truck thingy, and 2 farm sets.
I'm watching this while being stuck in a train... Well... I would love a graffiti on the train somewhere. Maybe something Robin Hood related or a crown?
Really like the green or lime windows nice change. Just wonder if two side by not just 1 might look good. Either way like the modified train you’re building 🙂
It's not a bad idea BUT, you then would see the internal support piece and those frames are very hard to get hold of, as they were only in one set and the 1x4x2 version doesn't come in Lime!
Funny you should say that. I've been messing around with the cockpit pieces and changing the side slopes really helps with a number of other modifications, including less lime!
In Au, they have a security guard in the reverse engine carriage, he swaps ends when the train goes back, he gets a free ride and watches the cameras and utube 😉
@13:50. Might not be realistic to Lego people. But in real life it used to be almost standard to have at least one observation car or two in line. Here from the USA Santa Fe had a lot of Dome observation cars for when its diesel units came out. This honestly just reminds me of them. Don't know why your saying its not very realistic in less its from the legos persons view. Because here in the usa. It just seemed standard it felt like after you read storys and videos of them. Almost every steam train had one at the very end then the diesel units had the Dome observation. I believe the electric versions units have the whole car almost out of glass and then if you are on vacation or something. They have some open sided excursion cars that look very different from every other one you see.
@@RobinHoodBricks no problem. But i can see the little bit of confusion. Wasn't your lego town base around UK???? Because if it was i don't know of any uk trains with dome cars or any that i told you about. But still regardless. I love this idea. Its great to see a spin on this train. Beautiful and great regardless if its realistic or not. Keep it! FULL STEAM AHEAD! Ps. Sorry for the long read. But are you going to add a other steam train in the future? Or thinking about it?
I have no plans for another steam train yet. It is not hyper real UK as Nottingham is nowhere near the coast, for a start. We do drive on the left though!
@@RobinHoodBricks LOL! And thats ok about the steam train. But about the uk thing. I believe because your town is loosely based in the UK is why people are yelling its un realistic for the train car. But again still great as all ways. Keep it up. And have a good day! Also back to the train thing. Maybe a flying Scotsman or mallard? Or if you want to be different maybe a American steam locomotive? Or diesel? Honestly in the usa we got some cool designs in trains just like you guys got in the uk. Lol! XD just wondering when you might add another steam train one day and its ok to take your time. Ps as a other load for your long train or for the steam engine maybe a steam tractor?
I was going to do a Mallard but people who know far more about trains have done amazing versions and mine would likely be inaccurate so maybe I'd use their build?!
Despite the drastic look of the lime green, doing the double decker gives its bombardia look, even if you do stick with the glass for all the coaches, but I think you could het away an say some money making additional coaches like sleepers and regular seating if you don't do the glass roof
I would possibly remove another lime 2x2 piece, move the windows forward and ad a door back, if you manage to make them half a stud back I think it would be even better. I don't like how the side grids are made, if you manage to attach them someway to the ceiling the space could be used for a bike rack or to fit in a refreshments cart.
I know you've received the "why don't you add more rail lines?" question a bunch, so I'm not here to make that comment, lol. I've heard you talk about doing some displays under the main city of Brick Nottingham though, and one of those could be a little railyard to display all of your lovely rolling stock and locos. Perhaps you could even build a little ramp up to the main train track so you could switch from one train to another without having to fiddle with all those wheels
Wow that sounds hard to do. The trains don't like much of an incline. Some of mine are quite long too so wouldn't like ANY incline. Sadly trains are only a part of my city. A glorious train yard would be great but would be too big. The floor option may still happen though!

I would love a graffiti on the train somewhere. Maybe something Robin Hood related or a crown?
But it's brand new and shiny!
Hi, could you please mod this train to 8w? I find it a bit small, but nice looking with the line color scheme.
Nope as all my tunnels are 8 wide so it'd get stuck!
@@RobinHoodBricks But it would be an interesting Series for some viewers too
@Robinhoodbricks What do you think I could do with The train in 75955 hogwarts express
Add more carriages might be nice. Maybe go for swanky first class and then second class being normal and then a really grotty third class!
@@RobinHoodBricks that sounds pretty cool I’ll give it a try
Hi. It run with one train motor without problems? 5 cars?
Yes fine. Two sets, one motor. Even with the new wheels, although I'll probably swap them to the older ones!
@@RobinHoodBricks And what problems have new wheels?
Really like the green or lime windows nice change.
Just wonder if two side by not just 1 might look good.
Either way like the modified train you’re building 🙂
It's not a bad idea BUT, you then would see the internal support piece and those frames are very hard to get hold of, as they were only in one set and the 1x4x2 version doesn't come in Lime!
You could perhaps move the black arrow section forward by 2 studs if you replace the lime 42022 pieces on the top with 61678. #toomuchlime
Funny you should say that. I've been messing around with the cockpit pieces and changing the side slopes really helps with a number of other modifications, including less lime!
How about conferting it to power funciouns
I may do that to make use of my rechargeable battery boxes but not for a while. That may be the last mod I do to it!
What is the hot tea technique
See my Tutorial playlist for how to move and repair LEGO stickers. Hot tea is involved to warm the glue!
In Au, they have a security guard in the reverse engine carriage, he swaps ends when the train goes back, he gets a free ride and watches the cameras and utube 😉
Maybe he's a subscriber. Maybe it's you!
The train looks great. I think the front and back driver windows look fine but the sides look to flat
Hmmm, yes. They need some texture for sure!
You should add a bird on the top of the back car on top of the electric pickup
Oh no. I don't want to do that. Poor birds. I'll add a cat. Any good?!
I was getting a lot of comments saying it was unrealistic. I like it and will be doing it regardless. So thanks for your support with that!
True but I have the glass roofs. I was gonna do this to the white train once. This is my chance!
How do you afford any of the lego stuff and house appliances?!
I have lovely supporters on Patreon and TH-cam members who help me out. Bless them all!
There isn't a door for the driver, you could add one in next to the nice new window.
Yes, I've designed that too now!
@@RobinHoodBricks Luckily you had plenty of space to add one.
The fronts will probably get another overhaul to add doors and driver doors. I think a refreshment section there could also be fun!
Maybe the driving trailer should be used for storage
Yes, or just to store more passengers!
11:55 Yup, that is SO much better!
It was a relief just to get it changed!
The new cab car ad red light 😊
Someone else suggested that and I've already done it, haha!
Make a sleeper train 🚆 for all us fans
I may just do that!
Interesting. Make more cars
One thing (sorry for my bad english), there's missing a pantograph on the cab car... If you add on, would be more realistic... 😉
I was told that I was being unrealistic before by having one on a cab car. They go only on the powered locomotive, I was told!

where have you got the ...4 * 60592 - Window 1 x 2 x 2 Flat Front... because the lime colour, I think does not exist....
I am sorry, the part is 60032....
They only came in the Volcano Supply Helicopter 60123, and even then only two. They are hard to get hold of, for sure!
First like and first view
Great!
Make a diner cart
I think I will!
@@RobinHoodBricks yes
Um that ‘up down up down’ is a real thing on American double decker trains
Cool. I'll do it here then!
I just waighting to cee people s with the new cargo train next 🙂👌👍 so happy my train Tunnle has a high roof cas of that high up car caridge wagon .
Yeah it's very tall. I'll not be getting it!

Indeed. I have four crew now of course!
