Holy shit, you actually acknowledged the 2003 TMNT games as being pretty good! Thank you! They're extremely underrated and got what I feel was a ton of underserved shit back in their day. I grew up playing that trilogy a ton and still come back to them from time to time with friends.
I think that the sandboxes in this game were a huge missed opportunity. They could’ve had branching paths through the different levels with multiple objectives that can be completed in any order. That would’ve been pretty cool. Some day I’d like to see an open world Ninja Turtles game where you can run around NYC stopping random crimes, finding collectibles, and doing side missions. That would be really cool, especially if they let you drive around in the Turtle-Van!
Secret boss deal is - the better your rank for each enemy encounter during a mission (B rank, A rank, S rank e.t.c), the higher the chance to get a secret boss fight. Higher difficulty also affects secret boss spawn chance - for "very hard" it's almost guaranteed. In addition, if you get all S ranks in Crang's or Shredder's level, it will also give you a Mech you can ride and make the fight easier. And the part about different Ninjutsu skills to equip - each turtle has 1 unique Ninjutsu avialible only to this particular turtle: Leonardo - Turtle time. Raphael - Stealth mode. Donatello - Pizza power. Michelangelo - Cheerleader. Any other ninjutsu is available for all the turtles. BONUS: it's not mentioned anywhere in the game, but aside of light and heavy attack, each turtle has 3 secret moves. Those are directional based moves, very similar to Street Fighter or Devil May Cry special moves: Back, forward, attack - stab attack Forward, forward, attack - dash attack Forward, right, down, left (360 motion if you are using stick), attack - aoe attack
The turtles appearance here is based off their appearances in the IDW comics by Mateus Santolouco. I LOVE his design for the turtles, but they don't seem to look good in shell shaded 3D. Also, thank you for reviewing this. One of the most disappointing games in my life.
This game is based on the IDW TMNT comic, which honestly makes the fact that it assumes the audience is familiar with everything even dumber. You can really only get away with assuming the audience is familiar with the source material in a comic book license game if it's something everyone is already familiar with. And as an adaptation of the IDW comic this game is also terrible. To give one example of it dropping the ball, Shredder is characterized as a generic bad guy. The IDW Shredder actually has some humanizing traits, unlike the other incarnations of the character. Hell the game has him obsessed with killing Splinter without even explaining what the deal with the two of them is in this universe.
@@GreenTomas2372 That's hit and miss. You don't really need to know who Ashoka is for her appearance in The Mandalorian, but Bo-Katan... you're kind of adrift there. Someone needed to slap the writers of Chapter 11 and yell "THIS IS NOT A SEQUEL TO REBELS!"

The last fun Turtles game I played was TMNT on Xbox 360, the one done by Ubisoft. The fights in that one are absurdly easy, but the parkour level design made the travel plenty of fun. It’s a shame what happened to the Turtles franchise after it’s changed hands so many times. I agree that most of the villains appear to be nobodies. I like the art style significantly better than what Nickelodeon did, but I miss the original turtles games. Also kind a put off that after all these recent games we still don’t have a game that lets you play as Karai.

Don replaced with Splinter, Raph replaced with Casey, Mikey replaced with Karai; and Leonardo replaced with the gloriously OP Slashuur. She's also one of the playable characters in Smash-Up.

This is a very flawed game, but there are sparks of a great game here. One you are supposed to counter more than dodge, so you are missing a core mechanic here. The flaw here is that due to the chaos of 4 players, this is VERY hard to pull off. Two, the game is a multiplayer character action game hell yeah! The problem here is they didn't have enough time to do this right being a rushed licensed game. Three, the open world with random missions is cool, but the flaw here is with ai partners, it becomes a clusterfuck. If you can somehow play this 4 players, it is MUCH more fun, and if you put enough time into it, it becomes a good 6 or 7 out of 10 game. I know that's unreasonable since it's delisted, so everyone has to have a copy from ages ago, and you all have to like games that require work to enjoy. I would love a remake.
Ironically, this sounds like the story, or more annoying story, of Platniums Legend of Korra game. Apparently it was decent, problem was that I think copyrights happened and took it off shelves (in digital stores since I've seen it at dollar general for 8 bucks on the 3ds). But hey, platinum at least won't build up a game that might bite them in the ass.....right? *sees Bayonetta 3 still not out* .....oh dear lord, were doomed

I wouldn't say that, necessarily. PlatinumGames had it's worst years behind and now they are doing better than ever. Not to mention I like to think that they're taking their time with Bayonetta 3 to make it as good as it can be.
this game had the potential but failed soooo hard
Very random to be lucky 15:21
This game was very repetitive but I actually enjoyed it for what it was, the music was also pretty good
21:30 Nolan North? Pretty sure he voiced the TF2 Engineer in "Expiration Date"
Nolan North voices half of all video game roles ever.
And I know for a fact he's been Raphael before- I think in the 2007 CG movie.
You say the games getting worse is me when I saw the Micheal bay tmnt films.
I used to give TMNT franchise a benefit of the doubt as I thought that mutated turtles as ninjas was dumb. Until I saw the 2007 CGI animated movie
What did you think of that?
@@Logan_Zimmerman I just thought that the concept that played in my head sounded to stupid to actually give a chance until I gave the a TMNT a chance. How young and stupid I was
:O A fellow pineapple pizza connoisseur!
I never got into the TMNT, are the foot clan robots or people?
Normally they're people.
In the original tv show that was toned down for little kids, they're robots.
@@Darklordjadow1 Cool. Love your vids by the way.
The last time I saw the Ninja Turtles, they teamed up with Batman.
Funny how Michaelangelo's VA also voices a character in Persona 5
Who?
@@GreenTomas2372 Goro Akechi
And Nolan North previously played Raphael in the 2007 TMNT movie.
0:25, See the Legend of Korra game for another good example
You check out Superman returns the game
I don't think I have a system that runs it... yet.
I think the game was fun, but I can see where you are coming from.
Why haven't you watched the 2012 series yet? It's just as good as the 2003 series.
If I can find it (will start by checking the library) I'll start it.
@@Darklordjadow1 The entire series is on Hulu.
@@BCRivers Good to know; I don't really feel like subscribing to Hulu when I'm already subscribed to Disney Plus and Amazon Prime though.
@@Darklordjadow1 Here is a good website to watch the 2012 Turtles series as well as lots of other cartoons! I use this site all the time and it’s great. Perfect for when I can’t sleep and need something to watch on my phone lol
wcoforever search on Google
The first TMNT on the NES may want a word for why it was left out. 😂
I was going to have a category at the bottom for "outliers" but decided against it.
@@Darklordjadow1 smart move, given how many ports that game has.
I never understood how people can like pinapple on pizza, i hate that.
P.s i know it has nothing with the rest of the video but i had to say it lol
How do you not know Slash or Wingnut?! They're from the OG cartoon! Also I did rent and finish this once. That was enough for me. And pineapple/olives/sausage pizza? Unsubscribe.
Ok so Bayonetta 1 and 2 were not flukes. Its just a platinum staple to have obnoxious endurance tests boss fights.
In their defense, the bosses in Platinum's other games at least have multiple phases that introduce new tricks to keep them exciting. In this game you're literally just wailing on them until they decide to die.
im glad i played better beat em up and hack and slash games
thats the most generic box i ever seen
i see no oilves on that pizza, are they blending in?
player level? what player level?
I heard that out of the shadows was pretty decent
I'd heard otherwise, but fair enough: it's the only game on that list I haven't played myself.
Tbh platinum come out with mediocre games from time to time, usually those that look like they were paid about 50€ or Yen equivalent to make from start to finish
This game was a hit and miss.
Still looks better than the Michael Bay Turtles.
