“Dom shows up with a car sporting missile launchers, blows the rocket onto its side, and then the crew has to chase down the speeding rocket to disarm it, culminating with Dom jumping out of his car to SURF on the rocket!” That is the most Fast and Furious description I’ve ever heard. 😂😂

So, to clarify about the whole “download hours of updates, launch the game, it begins download hours more of updates” ordeal: I don’t remember which console company it was (Sony, I’m inclined to believe), but one (or both) put in a mandate that all games must be playable the second the disk or data hits the console, even if it literally only displays a title screen you can’t leave. This resulted in a ton of games on said console(s) basically launching incomplete and being sent a Day 1 Patch at the exact time of release to add in the rest of the game or the last-minute fixes. This is why F&F:CR lets you play a single level before kicking you straight back to title; the rest of the game is being patched in. (This information might not be perfectly accurate, this is a years-old mandate at this point and what I know about it is mostly second-hand.)
I'm really glad you covered this game. I've been a longtime fan since the first movie, and as ridiculous as the later entries have gone lately, they still hold a special place in my heart, as they sparked my interest in both fast cars and chaotic action. To put it like this, Fast & Furious is to me what Kamen Rider is to you. And as bad as this game was, seeing all the reviews and gameplay videos were a fun sight to behold.

There should be a Terror’s of The Library video game. It would be a survival horror game where you play DarklordJadow1 trapped in a dark empty library haunted by cash grab shovelware games. That would be a living nightmare. Who wants me to make it real?
How would it play? Like a classic survival horror game like Resident Evil or Silent Hill where you have to manage your resources and only use them when necessary? Or would it play something like Amnesia or Alien: Isolation where the goal is to avoid the enemy at all times or it results in an instant game over?
@@shcdemolisher Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. It wouldn’t be a very long game, just one level, so I was actually thinking it would be more like Slender: The Eight Pages where you just run around the level avoiding the enemies. Does anybody else remember them?
Pretty sure someone who knows how to work with Unity (and by that I mean actually work it not just copy paste stock assets) could make something like that in a few weeks.
I remember when the F&F films were meant to be just a Hollywood take on Initial D and that was what got me into the films. To say that it's gone way beyond any realm of Initial D is a grand understatement. (For those not in the know, Initial D is a Japanese manga/anime about street racing, which was the appeal in the first three F&F films, Tokyo Drift especially so, they love fast cars and racing in Japan). I actually have to catch up on the films, last one I saw was F&F4. I'm a tad behind........a tad. The cars are like concrete pylons, you smash into anything and it simply knocks out of the way, I also loved how casual the dialogue was. Despite me slamming into walls, the characters are nonplussed about it. Just another Tuesday for them I guess.
Technically, the original Fast and Furious movie was trying to bank on the car culture of the late 90's and early 2000's. I doubt there was any mention or resemblance to Initial D apart from the climax in the third movie. And I think the franchise went through a drastic change due to the low box office returns of the third movie and the bigwigs wanted a more broad approach, which explains the heist aspect of the fifth film (even though the first movie started out with a heist) and the escalating into blockbuster territory afterwards.
"This is a rip off of Goldeneye" Well, I'll give it some credit, I wouldn't expect the rip off being in a god damn Fast and Furious game so color me surprised

The original Fast & Furious movie sucked. It took itself too seriously, the driving scenes are dull, and most of the plot is just a bunch of scenes that don't go anywhere as an excuse to set up more dull driving scenes. I watched that film when it was shown on TV multiple times and along with its sequel I could barely follow it because of how boring it was. I was amazed these stupid movies kept churning out sequels, until I saw Hobbs & Shaw (didn't want to but I was going with a friend for his birthday) and THEN I realized how from Fast 5 onwards the franchise has kept going. It doesn't take itself seriously, dials up the stupid, and has a lot of funny actors. By this point I want a crossover with the MCU. Given that Fast 5 opened with the crew parking a car in front of a bus, the impact caused the BUS to get sent into the air like it went up a ramp and the impact didn't kill the person they were breaking out (but from the looks of things killed everyone else on the bus), I feel that being able to do all this crazy shit with a car and not kill the person in it is par for the course. Along with all the other crazy shit. I won't deny the "plan" you went over and the actual dialogue made me laugh. In addition to the episode of "You;re A Dumbass!" I feel like I will watch the game edited into a movie at some point, because it has some moments I can laugh at for how dumb they are.
I think the biggest disappointment for me is the game's story putting Vin Diesel and company on the background to highlight two newer and less interesting characters. Still, at least it took a shorter amount of time for the *(almost)* main cast to assemble compared to the Avengers game.
A little bit of fascinating info about this abomination: This game was done by Slightly Mad Studios. The same devs behind the Need for Speed Shift games and Project Cars 1 and 2, some of the best racing sims. And Bandai Namco published it. I question how a studio that did some amazing racing sims managed to shit this turd of a game. And how the hell does Namco have the audacity to charge up to 90 dollars.
And Vin Diesels studio that also worked on it made the flawed but pretty fun Wheelman. I have no idea how this game ended up so awful with the studios behind it. Really have to wonder what happened behind the development.
@@monkaWGiga Either they rushed the hell out of this thing or they just didn't give a toss. For some reason, considering some games that Namco Bandai released in the past(*ehem* Godzilla 2014), I suspect they messed up this one too. This game could've been somewhat saved if Criterion worked on it and gave it that Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2010 feel. Cos now that I think about it... it would really really fit this game.
My guess is that Slightly Mad rushed it out the door so they could work on Project CARS 3. But I guess a more arcade style game is a bit too drastic compared to their simulator racing attempts. Still, I think Criterion would've been great to make a Fast & Furious game.

It should help people find your video if they're looking for that game specifically on its own. Sometimes TH-cam detects what game it is and put one itself, but i recommend a manual one since it doesn't take much and it helps. -Teo
#TokyoDriftGang4life Also, the black heist cars with neon green underglow are likely supposed to be a reference to the first movie where Dom and his gang rob trucks while driving a bunch of Honda Civics with the same characteristics.
There were a ton of throwbacks to the movies. The black Plymouth GTX from Fast 8, the red Ford pickup and The Racer's Edge from the first movie, the blue Yenko Camaro from the second movie, the black cars with green underglow from Fast 1, a train chase similar to Fast Five, a level featuring both a wrecking ball and an underground tunnel run (the former from Fast 8 and the latter from Fast 4), and the two Dodge Chargers which are self explanatory.
I've only ever watched bits of the F&F movies but I too have seen Hobbs and Shaw and agree that it's a masterpiece of dumb and fun action (though I would personally put Rampage onto the Number 1 spot) Oh, and I think the game was supposed to release alongside F9, but of course the virus spreaded and the movie had to be delayed the next year of this June. But you know, they needed to release it now to re-coop profits. I do find it weird how the game drops you off into the menu after the first level which reminded me of a similar thing with X-Men 2 on the Sega Genesis/MD where it just drops you to a level until you reach the end and then the title screen shows up. Only with Crossroads, its only there to finish installing the rest of the game.
I'm a big fan of these movies. So much so that I actually got myself a Mitsubishi Lan Evo once I got my license. Probably late but this game kinda reminds me of a third-party game called Dark Future Blood Red States. An alternate-history cyberpunk game. Unlike this, Dark Future doesn't have an overall story. Of course, this game has a revenge subplot. And like with Abby and Ellie from The Last of Us Part II, Vienna never learns that revenge is a fool's game.
No, instead she has Robin's character arc in Batman Forever where she decides to arrest instead of kill him. Except while Robin had Batman lay out for him why revenge is an endless destructive cycle, Vienna just... decides not to.

angry joe:16 times the muscle
2:23 someone ripped off hotwheels velocity X
At least there's a new Hot Wheels game coming out later this year.
So, there's something to look forward to.
Made my morning, man
As much as I love the Fast and Furious franchise, I knew this game was garbage from the trailer. I am curious if those 2 will show up in a movie.
Same here. I love these movies, and even I wouldn't touch this game with a ten foot pole.
Unless it goes for a MAJOR price drop and even then I'd still be hesitant.
2:07 car was literally force pushed over
I never thought it's possible to make a game worse than Ride to Hell: Retribution
There are plenty of games I could list off that are worse than that game...
Well, that's even worse. Now Vienna has less of a character. For what little she actually has in the overall plot.
Now for a couple of good racing games that actually reward you for not having a care in the world: Burnout 3 or even Burnout Revenge.
I love Revenge. The racing and music were a pleasure to me.
@@mattc2306 Yeah the music kicked major butt and I always get a thrill ramming cars to rack up money and a boost. Paradise was good too, but Revenge will always be my favorite.
@@johnbakasmoothhotchocolate Yeah, when it comes to Burnout, I'd like to flip flop between titles.
@@mattc2306 which one was your favorite?
@@johnbakasmoothhotchocolate A tie between Takedown and Revenge.
8:01 Tails, eat your tails out!
And to think the people who made nfs shift made this! 🙁
They were also in the middle of developing Project CARS 3 while they're making this game, so that might be another factor.
Oh boy here we go
He changed his name this is the bad ending
I just thought it waa time to change it to something I didn't feel stupid saying out loud.
I'm still working on it.
@@Darklordjadow1 you fool any title with gaming in it is automatically stupider the original was perfect
u love talking about bad games, don't you?
This was a lame excuse to make something for the fans because the new movie was taking to much to do
Vin Diesel's Wheelman is a better Fast and Furious game than this.
I know, right?
It's just a shame that it isn't backwards compatible, because I would've loved to play it on my Xbox One.
Hello from the algorithm
Never been this early.
I knew this game would be crap from the start like at first glance the graphics look good but if you really look at the textures up close this game is absolutely ugly
Hello!
