The infinite one up trick was even shown in an instruction dvd sold with some copies of SMG2.
yeah there's no way it wasn't intended, someone had to code the sound effect of the bouncing increasing in pitch every bounce until the 1ups kick in.

I just wanna precise that the infinite 1 UP "bugs" with koopas are some easter eggs, they are voluntarily placed buy Nintendo on every mario bros, it's a reference to a true bug, which was in the first SMB ;-)

A few more cool things:
- You can use the momentum boost when forming clouds (a common speedrunning trick).
- You can jump in mid-air with the Rock Mushroom by pressing A before shaking, and also when at the peak of a ramp boost.
- In certain places, if you sideflip and then hold the stick roughly perpendicular to your sideflip angle, you can get a lot of height.
- There's a way to clip underneath the poison swamp in Boo Moon Galaxy by using the gravity-changing curves, something along the lines of jumping from one end to the other to avoid changing gravity, and then getting caught underneath the snake blocks.
- When approaching the Luma on the roof in Peewee Piranha, and the Luma in the cage in Storm the Sky Fleet, landing in a particular spot and pressing A can skip their dialogue.
This game is almost 10-years-old.

When I was akid I discovered the infinite flutter glitch in my own, I felt like a god, but then, I searched Mario Galaxy 2 glitches on youtube and saw, the long yoshi tongue glitch, when I first tried it, didn't felt like a god, no, I felt like I had absolute knowledge of everything in existence, I felt like I could spend all my life spelling the digits of pi, I felt like I could count planets forever, I felt like I could calculate the size of the universe, and I also felt like I could slap my neighbours from my house with that yoshi tongue

surprisingly really stable, as most of these are exploits or developer oversights

i got a curiositystream ad before this video, about the dinosaur asteroid, and then when it was finished, the video started and it said "looking at meteors freezes them" and to be funny i thought to myself "if only the dinosaurs knew that lol"
Another thing that SMG2 offers as a glitch is being stuck crouching on the rim of Starship Mario's cap. I was just playing around doing many backflips on top of the rim until I discovered this glitch. When you try to do a backflip in a specific spot, you will be stuck in a crouching position with no ability to jump. However, moving fixes the glitch immediately.
..if I knew I could do that, I would've abused the hell out of that meteor trick
