  • The cowl seal on E9X BMWs and other models is prone to cracking and giving out with age or heat, as most rubber seals do. However, there is no way to directly replace the seal, aside from replacing the entire cowl, which can be costly for a piece of rubber.

I have a 2011 they definitely moded this issue Now they present a seal that runs along under the window and when you put the cowl in place it butts into it better system for sure just make sure that seal is not unglued and the reason why I'm saying that is because I did a cow filter delete like you have and I noticed the seal was not sealing on both ends I just recently 6 months ago had a window done and they just threw it together and didn't reseal both ends apparently I don't have any weeks So this modification that they did to later models works much better

Did you put glue between the seal and the glass ?

I have a leak on the passenger side, you think this would help?

If your seal is visibly deteriorating then yes. Another common culprit is the windshield seal that surrounds the glass

Why would you put that rubbish on a car like that? The amount of stuffing around and then it still doesn't seal. Over time dust WILL accumulate from down the windscreen into any gap with water making mud that will push the rubber edge out again. You would have seen a build up when you removed the cowl. I just (yesterday) replaced the whole scuttle (cowl) with one I picked up from a wrecker for $80 (even had the wires and tubing still attached.). Went straight in easy as, no cutting or gluing and a factory seal that looks correct and works. Not sure what you are trying to show with the video as details (finer points) were lacking.

3 years and 10s of thousands of miles later its absolutely fine lol. I've had to open it up a few times to gain access to other parts and its the same as it was before. Is it perfect? No. Better than it was before? Yes, as it actually seals now. Car is kept outside so I would know by now if it was an issue. Thanks for your comment

Which rubber seal did you use? Do you have a size and link? Thank you
