Mine was breaking into pieces too I though it would be expensive to replace and after seeing this video you helped me a lot !!!!! Defiantly gonna do mine this weekend
Thanks! Worked like a wristwatch! Other videos didnt employ silicon spray. But they complained that their process was unforgiving. Not the case when you use the spray especially when handling those corners Thanks again!
Dude this video helped me so much. I was worried about the edges during rain here in Florida, so I sealed the areas where the trim was gone. Now I'm happy to have seen this video. I'm going to re-install a new trim soon. 👍🏻
Great video, man. I'm in Austin, but my 335i came from Houston so the rear molding is pretty baked just like yours. Looks like a straightforward fix so thanks for doing this!
Did mine a long time ago. After watching this, I realized how simple it was going to be. But my '11 E90 328i never/didn't have the bottom trim and all of the Diagrams don't show one. Jus some FYi.
TIS says: Important! To avoid groaning noises, do not use soapy water (low-surface-tension water with washing-up liquid) or lubricant containing silicone.
That piece is not a seal. It is strictly a piece of cosmetic trim that covers the gap between the glass and the body. The glass is glued/sealed to the body with auto glass urethane.
So, if i just take away my old molding, water wont enter inside of the car? I am living far way from Usa so shipping that box would be extremely expensive.
Curious if you could do a video on how to replace the A B pillar trim on the outside. They fade pretty easily, would be nice to have that glossy finish again.
I need the lower one for my e92 but fcp euro along with my local dealership both tell me that the e92 doesn’t anything there in there “diagrams” 🤦🏽♂️ BS.... all that rotten glue crap that’s there tells me otherwise idk I going to have to order one for the E90 and hope it fits
Vehicular DIY actually it was bullseyeDIY’s tutorial on this and he says not to use a silicone lubricant cause the silicone has a adverse effect on plastics and rubbers. Not sure . I have a silicone lubricant spray and a lubricant specifically for rubbers.. 😢
Exact issue I have and great tutorial. I’m diving in and would love to support your channel with a buy from link/ECSTuning $39 but does it ship in box like dealer one you used?
Hey thanks, I'm honestly not sure. I'd doubt it as that would be costly to ship. Might be easier to just get it from the dealer. Next time you need another part just click that link and search for what you'd need it would still support the channel.
Does anyone know where i can get the front brake pads for this same exact vehicle? I keep ordering the wrong part when i put in the part number different options pop up
The new lower seal does NOT come with double sided tape. The dealership told me there is no adhesive used for it. We'll see how it goes when I try to install it this weekend.
@@randydberg5860 It fits snugly in place. Just make sure you get it centered properly! Otherwise you will have an issue where one end doesn't like to stay on well.
I am missing both corners on my 328i rear window seal. I am having a moldy smell in my car. Did you experience a moldy no after the rain before you replace the rear seal?
This is the exact same problem I have. The mold smell became unbearable. Took me forever to figure out where the water was entering. Had to get a garden hose and go section by section. Most internet posts were implying it was likely from the door seals or inner door seal with that goopy rubber. Nope. My corners are rotted out and water is getting in there. Now I wonder if I should also squirt a little window sealer goop in the corner before I replace this rubber seal, since other people are saying there's doesn't leak, but just looks bad.
@@omgwhatever Found out mine was coming in through my windshield. The front cowling was leaking and it was coming in underneath the windshield to the passenger floor. Hope this helps
Vehicular DIY around the back window yeah 99% sure it’s built into the glass atleast the bottom piece. the top and corners aren’t like the front windshield with the metal spine. And there’s like no forum post about replacing the back other than one that said it was double sided tape lol
I just have to say it... you have the worst camera on youtube 😅 but great job on no bullshit video pretty straight forward its just that the camera is really annoying
Noticed the corners crumbling on my e90 today and took 2 seconds to find your helpful video. My lucky day. Thank you so much.

@@dallasbagley yea it was super easy
Nice video! Took me longer to watch it than to do the job! Thanks for all the explanation
Awesome - noticed my rear molding is going bad, too. I was hoping this was a DIY, not a glass job, so thanks for the video!! Two thumbs up.
I love TH-cam this is exactly the video I needed and part number.
Just changed mine and it was super easy. Got the silicone spray and everything looks great. Thank you!

Thanks for the video! Same as others , I thought this was a window shop job until I watched your video.
Good tutorial - my local windscreen repair shop want $330 to fit this.. will give it a crack myself.
Thank you. It's the same process on the LCI model as well it took me less than 20 min.

Thanks for the video. Just ordered a replacement seal from FCP Euro... will be doing the replacement with your method.
Shane Sexton did it come in a box like dealership one in the video and did it arrive safely?
I was going to order one. Thanks for the tip to get from dealership, good thinking.

My mistake, E92. If you go to RealOEM.com parts catalog/vehicle trim/glazing, you'll see it has no bottom(horizontal) trim piece.
thanks bud my car is going into dealership for recall on the 11th i figure ill just pick some up then.
SUPER HELPFUL! Thanks.
Thanks for the video. Very informative.
Thanks for the video
Great camera focusing 🤔🤔🤔
Great video!
Great work

Was just thinking about how the adhesion from the strip on the molding would be affected by the silicone spray :0
What is the part number for this
6:32 a tripod has magically taken the camera
Is it the same for the front seals?
Please can you show how to fix the front trim in your video
Thank you. 😊 Could you tell me please what music is at the end? It is great.
Thanks

@@Giancarlo-tw2 BMW specifically labels this part as rear window gasket seal..so yes you need it or eventually water will find its way in

Can this going back cause water to get into the amp area? Currently chasing a leak that’s letting water into that area
I was told to use non silicone sealant? Either way great tutorial, my trim is crumbling away lol
You must be referring to the bottom seal? It should have double sided tape securing that to the vehicle.

What sort of glue do you use on the bottom one? Mine has come loose at both ends and keeps slipping off
Did you ever solve this?
Which Silicone spray do you use?
Would that part number fit the e93?
Does anyone know where i can get the front brake pads for this same exact vehicle? I keep ordering the wrong part when i put in the part number different options pop up
what type of shop would i take this to be done at? my diy skills are shitty
It’s a shame this seal is a piece of crap. I have an e92 m3 and the corners are cracking. That spray is a great idea.
Thanks for the diy, liked and subscribing but man... camera focus is very distracting.
Really?? C'mon now lmao 😂
Wooow less than 40 dollar for a bmw dealership part.
How do you do the lower seal because mine is gone
If your lower seal is gone you basically just peel it away and clean the surface. The new seal with come with double sided tape.

Did you buy the seal from bmw west houston? Is it reasonble price compared to online. I heard they charge twicw as much as it cost online
Yes they are reasonable, they are about 15% higher than the best online prices I've found.
What the silicon spray does?? Will it seal the leak before install the molding??
Helps with install and is not harmful to the rubber.
