Was the second wire the brown wire?

Really just need help with what wire you used for the negative on the reverse light tap

My car used to be an automatic, so previously I actually had the red wire connected directly to the unit. It was marked as a camera power wire so that worked perfectly until I manual swapped. In theory you can use any power source but the reverse light positive would be easiest if your head unit doesn’t have a camera power wire. All you need is a multimeter to determine which wire gets 12v in reverse. I’d tell you which one if I could remember off the top of my head, forums might have the wiring diagrams as well

@ yeah the red wire doesn’t work I have the positive wire hooked up I have the same connectors that you had I just can’t see what you tapped for the negative lead and I’m not the greatest at wiring so was trying to avoid trying to unplug the whole harness and going one by one

I came across a 124 on a forum post with this radio and honestly it looks better than it does in my 129. Sits more flush in the 124 stack, kind of like how it does in the E36s

Those are a cool concept I'm just not a fan of how they look

@@SamAbraham Yeah fair. I like them a lot personally because if you don't need the screen, it's very stealthy and looks like your average aftermarket radio. But when needed it pops out a cool 7" touch display and makes you car very usefull in modern days. Especially with carplay

That's all it needs. Originally bothered me, but if you click the button you can swipe across the screen to increase or decrease, doesn't require looking at it either which is nice

Oh trust me its been bothering me since I got the car lol. I tried to move it when I had the cluster apart, but it didnt seem to want to move. Rather than risk damaging the face and needing a donor cluster I just decided to live with it and accept the quirk haha

There's a slight increase in induction noise but not significant. Paper filters like these are better than the oiled ones in my opinion.

If you didnt install the external mic that would likely be why.. the build in mic is pretty terrible

@SamAbraham yeah, it is but I don't think it's working at all. The coloured blobs on Android Auto don't dance one bit even if I shout at it from 2 inches away!

@@SamAbraham what they should've done is take a piggyback feed from the OEM microphone (it's in the quadlock) and use that as an external mic for the screen.

@SamAbraham I've seen one supplier (hifimax) demonstrating that approach for this unit but on a BMW. I'm going to try tapping into the original mic but at the satnav cradle in the glovebox as it's easier to access rather than wrestle with the head unit again! It's pretty obvious there's only 1 manufacturer of these units and lots of resellers (avin, top road, hifimax, autoabc, ninetom, mekedes, tophatter etc. etc.) who simply rebrand the firmware.

Not needed with this method, as long as you make sure you extract the full amount

The ones I bought are in the description, they're 6.5." I did not replace the tweeters in my speakers as they were still in good shape, so I only replaced the mid-ranges.

@ I’m sorry I didn’t mean the tweeters. I meant a the smaller ones. I have the 6.5 but the other smaller speaker pictured I don’t. Would you happen to know which ones would work with the speakers you bought. I believe I have to replace them as well. Someone put JVC in and now I am trying to get it back to how they used to sound.

Or... just check the VIN sheet for option 471 and its got an LSD lol. The P30 suspension was criticized for being overly harsh, even in track applications, which is why it was discontinued. The dampening (or lack thereof) upset the balance of the car in most settings. The facelift 204 C63s received updated bushings to improve handling along with revised struts + spring rates. Updated part numbers which have replaced the older components from MB themselves.

Removing the W164 subframe is quite a pain, I followed WIS dealer instructions to do this, and even they don’t use the subframe method. They pull it out from the top in the 164 ML/GL and 251 R Class. It would not be possible to remove the M156 from the ML63 without removing the front end, unless one had a shop crane that could lift it straight up instead of at an angle like my engine hoist. I’ve seen people remove M272 V6s from 164s with the front end intact, but the V8 doesn’t have enough clearance in this case

The one on top gear was THE one press car. A few have been resprayed solarbeam by third parties but not from factory

Good thought although MB's alien green looks less yellow to me on the G63 "Crazy Color Edition" than whatever color is on this C63
