Thanks for the angle tip struggled a bit till I saw how easy you made it!
Sweet Jesus, FINALLY a video that shows where this seal goes. Thank you!! I have a major water leak and everyone keeps talking about this seal that the cowl pops into. I can't find it in my car for the life of me. Turns out that's because my car doesn't have that seal at all! Other owner probably had the windshield replaced and never reinstalled the seal. Thank you.
I can finally take the water proof gorilla tape off my windshield cowling!!
This is an excellent guide thank you so much for taking the time to make this
I’ve been struggling with that windshield seal cover for the past two days. It just doesn’t seal tight and has a large gap. Gonna try this thank you
My wiper arms would not come off by shaking the arm nor by tapping with a screw driver and mallet as recommended in the videos. Had to delay the job until I got a decent wiper arm puller. By the time you need to replace the cowl, you can be sure the wipers are on tight by minor chemical reaction between the metals and the wiper puller is needed. These are not expensive, hassle free, parts don't go flying and it worked great and a lot cheaper than having the job done at a garage. When reinstalling the wipers, I found on line that the wiper position is 24 mm from the tip to the cowl seal for the right (passenger side) wiper and 44 mm for the left (drivers side) wiper. Cleaning out the dirt that had had collected under the old cowl was the biggest part of the job. While at cleaning, you may as well remove the flexible shields just below the ends of the windshield and get the dirt out from under there as well. I used the OEM cowl from BMW. Everything is on the cowl, no need to buy clips, washers or grommets. Amazingly, it had only been manufactured 5 months before according to a sticker I found on it. Looks great.
Thank you. I was looking for this all day.
Yes I did. The hard way included about three hours of frustration before I realized that seal came off the cowling. I wish the Bently manual had mentioned it or shown it in one of the pics. Sigh.
Been trying to get the damn thing back on for over 2 hours!! Thank u for ur time,7 years ago. Lmao.
that metal channel should stay on the windshield, the plastic cowl clips into that. The metal rail should be permanently glued on. When i initially took my cowl off as i pulled it out it simply unclipped out of that channel. and when you put it back on you simply press it in,
Wondering if this fixed the issue of having water going through the cowl seal going into the passenger side?
Man ! you save my life !
my cowl is ripped, i have the 2005 e90 325i do you know where i can get a replacement cowl
nice but you didn't need to remove the seal. there are 2 round pieces you can remove from the cowling which gives you more room to manure the cowling into the grooves of the seal
My luck whoever had it before lost that seal would aybody know the part number?
Where did you get the new seal from?
just noticed you found out the hard way lol
Any idea what the name or number for the seal at
is that 12 ft lbs for the torque?
Just have some one hold the camera then work or try to show how it's done !! over all its very good ,,
