I love the old school comfort and utility combined with the ultrasmooth ride and speed of the turbo v6. My other car is an old Porsche 911 with of course a very stiff suspension but I was pleasantly surprised how this big truck moves and handles. Great turning radius and not as difficult to manuver this slab sided beast as you might think. Drives and rides much better than any GM suv. Their suspensions are hard like my Porsche...not what you want in a luxury vehicle. Coming from a guy who loves sports I've never understood why people prefer sporty riding crossovers and SUVs with trucky rock hard suspensions. Lincoln got it right. Drives like a really big luxury car with massive torque down low for effortless acceleration. Doesn't feel heavy when accelerating like when you have to wind out nonturbo suv where you dont get the instant torque of the Lincoln. Best vehicle you can buy for traveling in comfort and towing a big boat or camper.
Funny how back in the day people would protest the Ford Excursion for being excessive and not fuel efficient. My '03 turbo diesel 4x4 Excursion gets the same mpg as this new Lincoln, it's bigger, tows more, and weighs more.
You can get a decked out Expedition with pretty much all of the same features for less. I rented an Expedition Platinum, and WHOO BOY that thing had balls! There's no way such a big car should get up and go so fast. Hoping the redesign puts this thing back in the competition.
Fuel economy would still be slightly lower. The Ecoboost F-150 gets similar mileage, yet the V8 is lower still. And it likely wouldn't have the whopping 460 lb-ft of torque, which is what makes this so fun to drive even though it's big.
Despite how this dude criticizes the navigator, if you do some research, navigator has very good reliability over any other full size SUVs. I drove this and the new escalade, Lincoln has a much better ride.
These will pretty much only be sold as fleet cars anyway. Coming to a hertz near you. Nice to see someone really rip on that sad excuse for a luxury truck
absolutely disappointing. the switch gear, interior architecture, and materials are near identical to that of the expedition. *cheap*. when compared to the Cadillac Escalade which offers mostly its own switch gear, its own interior architecture, and a far higher end level of materials being dripped with suede, nappa leather, and real porous wood, this feels like its not even a Luxury SUV. hell this cant even over take the the GMC Denali in terms of materials, quality, and Luxury which offers real brushed aluminium, semi aniline leather, and magnetic ride.
justin bouche True. This is very outdated...not a bad car overall..but much better out there..80K for this and 70K for a more featured loaded Yukon LOL.
I have a 2016 Navigator L, 4WD. I bought it 5 months ago with just over 90k miles on the ticker. It was clearly a "fleet" truck, but it was absolutely taken care of. I've been a pickup guy my entire life but, at 40, I decided I wanted heated seats, a premium sound system and something big enough to fit my family of 4 comfortably in for our annual trip to the beach (a 9 plus hour drive). Coming from a Ford Supercrew, I couldn't love this Lincoln any more. My truck blew 3, yes, 3 engines and 6 turbochargers. It was a huge hunk of shit, but I couldn't quit Ford just because of that. The Ecoboost in the Lincoln is extremely competent and purrs at highway speed. I personally changed the oil, spark plugs and swapped an K&N air filter in, but other than that its bone stock. Although I only drive around 3 miles a day (my wife and I live and work "in town" so we're not afraid of higher mileage cars because we only put around 5k miles on our two cars a year), I'm still managing better fuel economy than my 2011 F150. I've had it up to just shy of 17mpg on the interstate and I routinely get around 14mpg in the city. My only real beef with this truck is rust starting to creep in the pinch points/seems in the undercarriage. You'd think for how expensive this is, they'd take better preventative measures against rust, but its nearly a moot point; this spring I'll be applying some rattle can or roll on rust preventative paint to the effected areas. The navigation and multimedia lcd screen is easy to use and I have no complaints there. Now, I could've easily got a newer aluminum body one but, I work in public safety and I've seen how poorly those newer trucks hold up in a crash (at any speed). I'll gladly pay whatever it takes to keep this steel body mammoth on the road. If you have any other questions, feel free to hit me up. Cheers, Steve Stewart
I find it interesting that you didn't mention anything about the 2nd and 3rd row seating - which is the entire reason someone would buy this vehicle. Lincoln (and Ford) are superior to the GM SUV's when it comes to comfortable passenger seating - particularly 3rd row seating. Any adult that has spent more than 5 minutes in the 3rd row seat of a GM product will know what I mean.
FORD LINCOLN MERCURY (lol I said MERCURY), they to put a V8 in that thing and make sure it has CYLINDER DEACTIVATION. the ESCALADE, YUKON DENALI, and SUBURBAN SOUND GREAT WITH THE 8. I know everyone is tryna make fuel efficient cars but SUVs that size need a V8
its strange ford stoped making the crown vick cause thay said it was to big and got poor milage but thay will make a bigger suv that gets worse gas milage no wonder fords sales suck rite now.
Did you seriously compare a navigator to a range Rover? In that respect the navigator wins by default for how much more car you get for the price. It's pricing is so close to the expedition you could spend more on the Ford.
whiteandnerdytuba Lincolns and fords are terribly unreliable like land rovers. Overpriced, like land rovers. Ugly, like land rovers. Driven like douchebags, like land rovers. Why wouldn't he compare them?
Audiwan Kenobi Yeah because atleast they update their cars more often lol. Lincoln is behind the game. They should know that all new cars are getting redesigned every 4-5 years
While I like your reviews, I find your pointing out of the lack of driver assist features, most of which make people less capable of driving, to be annoying. If you need to be assisted like some 120 year old person then maybe you should just give up driving. That said, I would still buy this over a Land Rover or GMC/Chevy/Cadillac thing, while nice to look at I find there vehicles less than well made and their tech equally lacking, although the 120 year old driver that loves, and needs, big things with driver tech will find them just fine.
Yes pardon my vernacular. I agree with you regarding the price but my comment came from the fact that this vehicle is so old and they are charging that price for it. So yes I agree the price is outrageous considering how old the platform is.
I don't care what anybody says, I love it!
maybe not $80k for a new one though haha
ben better it's not for what you get. Only if you can't afford it
Same!! I still like it better than the new ones!

Always be sure to watch the very end of Craig's videos.
with that fuel economy why not just put a V8 in it?
Fuel economy would still be slightly lower. The Ecoboost F-150 gets similar mileage, yet the V8 is lower still. And it likely wouldn't have the whopping 460 lb-ft of torque, which is what makes this so fun to drive even though it's big.
Cameron Kelson It's no use explaining that to them haha.
the red is beautiful
I absolutely praise that color!!!😎👍

I’m here when that “concept car” is in production:)
I love your reviews Craig!

Well I for one like this Lincoln Navigator L, looks better than the 2018 in my opinion.
It really does, yes I agree! I don’t like the brand new ones!
Where are the car comparisons at? I love them!
I still like this one better than the new ones
Ford fit and finish is the worst. Ford Edge is the worst I've seen
its the first generation edge that had problems with fit and finish, the current one is fine
absolutely disappointing. the switch gear, interior architecture, and materials are near identical to that of the expedition. *cheap*. when compared to the Cadillac Escalade which offers mostly its own switch gear, its own interior architecture, and a far higher end level of materials being dripped with suede, nappa leather, and real porous wood, this feels like its not even a Luxury SUV. hell this cant even over take the the GMC Denali in terms of materials, quality, and Luxury which offers real brushed aluminium, semi aniline leather, and magnetic ride.
wait till the revamp..this would battle the old gmc Yukon
lets hope right now this cant even fight the Yukon. (on TFL truck) it crushed the navigator.

the Yukon offers far more features. im not sure what you're trying to say... just look at their feature list its not even close.
justin bouche
Uh..read that again..i said the Yukon is 10K cheaper and more loaded..lol
How'd the Eco Boost due over time? Who's still driving a 15/16 Navigator/Expedition please?

@@stevestewart9117 do you still have the Navigator? How is it holding up? I’m thinking of getting a 2017 now in 2022. Thoughts?

People who buy these dont care about the sound of a v8. Lol
Ford expedition? How about: Escalade, Tahoe, or Suburban ?
Love your word play and quality videos.
its strange ford stoped making the crown vick cause thay said it was to big and got poor milage but thay will make a bigger suv that gets worse gas milage no wonder fords sales suck rite now.
Ben Lieckfelt does not suck you should do your homework

What the fuck is with that price tag? Jesus Christ
The Story of Ai it's actually competitively priced
whiteandnerdytuba it's not, considering the competition blows it out of the water.
what have we learned.. don't be stupid get a Lexus LX570
Please test a 2017 Lincoln Continental...
General Motors just does this better with their large SUVs.
Audiwan Kenobi Yeah because atleast they update their cars more often lol. Lincoln is behind the game. They should know that all new cars are getting redesigned every 4-5 years
$80k? Would rather get a Land Cruiser.
Xtwonine would take several more grand to hit base price. This is fully loaded
best auto reviewer online
You can get a Landcruiser for $5K more. It's absurd.
or you could just get the Cadillac escalade right now instead of waiting till next year
Escalade ESV all day everyday!!!!
Ford desperately needs to hire new designer and engineers...
I'd rather have a Yukon Denali.

sounds like a monster movie lol
this generation is extremely old, Cadillac escalade is way better IMO
A better option would be a Honda Odyssey
80k...Lincoln tripping.
craig doss That price isn't out of the ordinary but it is outrageous considering how old it is underneath - coming up on 10 years
Yes pardon my vernacular. I agree with you regarding the price but my comment came from the fact that this vehicle is so old and they are charging that price for it. So yes I agree the price is outrageous considering how old the platform is.
