I own a 1998 Navigator it has 169368 miles and is still going strong. Great SUV. Bought it on 6 November 1997 had 6 miles on it at the time. Love this SUV.
I owned a 2017 Platinum Escalade and 3 other previous years models for the past 12 years. After watching this and every other comparison video with the Escalade, I went out and drove one. Well, they were absolutely right. There is no comparison to these two SUV's. The Navigator is so far above the Escalade it should be in a different class. I have driven the Mercedes and Bentley also. The Navigator takes the prize. I ended up buying a Black Label last week and absolutely love it!

warriorpluto ok let’s start with your “precious” Cadillac Escalade that you love so much. mpg 14 to 23???? Try 16 to 23 for the Lincoln Navigator much better. Also the Cadillac Escalade a showboat and all that showboating stuff is plastic and cracks early. Also there know for heating and air conditioning problems. Which you might not think is a big problem but it’s all computerized and people can spend 1500$ to 2500$ taking the dashes apart just to fix the stupid things.they have problems with the dash and instrument displays cheaply made and will come on and off at will. And speaking about transmissions they have early transmission failures and AWD versions have differential problems that cost a fortune to fix its s big heavy vehicle but the internals are not heavy duty enough they just break done to much from carrying all that weight around. Cadillac has been using that Cadillac top of the line for decades well it’s been along time since that has been even close to the truth. And while I’m at it next time attack Lincoln not ford but since you did I’ll attack GM as a whole two words and a number bankruptcy of 2009. They started way before that though even in the early 2000s they made a lot cheaper stuff I talked to an engineer and he said that one time ford and Chevy where going neck to neck and people thought “oh GMs are made better than fords” and then they did a little research and GM found out that they were spending 20% more building vehicles and that’s why they were better vehicles back decades ago. Well according to the engineer I was talking to GM looked at it and said jee wiz we’re spending 20% more than Ford for building our cars let’s make them cheaper so they did and the quality went down.
But hey if you like the Cadillac Escalades good on you I own 3 Lincoln’s on 2015 MKX 60k miles works great as it should a Lincoln Mark LT 150k miles also in absolutely great condition and a 2011 Lincoln town car 200k miles and not one has needed any maintenance except for routine oil changes but I my dad has owned 5 Cadillacs all have broken down before 100k miles and had numerous problems so I won’t trust another Cadillac hell his friends who work at a Cadillac dealership told me that they wouldn’t sell me one with an extended extended extended warranty cause they don’t want me complaining about it breaking down he’ll the guy that works there has a Cadillac that has broken down three times he takes it to the dealership gets fixed the 2 months later breaks down again 3 different times so I’ll stay far away from any GM products. I’ll stick with Ford and Lincoln cause they haven’t caused me any problems at all.

$100k for either an escalade or navigator is wayyy too much, I remember when these things would go fully loaded for 55K. Whatever happened to domestic affordability compared to foreign competitors in this segment. If you really want a Ford made V8 get the 5.0L Range Rover for this price.

I've got a 2003 navigator that I love. It's always been super reliable and the furl mileage is pretty damn good. With saying that the air ride was removed and shocks replaced the overly problematic air ride. It still rides just as smooth. I love my Lincoln but I'd be willing to trade it off for a 2018. So Lincoln if you would like to give a loyal owner one I'm your guy.
Just got out of Austin Auto Show, and AFTER 3 hours (eat, my kid play & check every single brand that is more than 40), we can say that the latest 2018 Lincols Navigator is the best SUV with 3rd Row seat in the planet. We checked ALL of them (Asian made, European, North American made, etc...). Their top of the line that's in the $100+k beats every single SUV with 3rd row seat, and the sound by REVEL is super awesome. IF u want SUV with 3rd row seat plus with the best seats (it's super comfortable, even the 3rd row seats), then this is it! MOST (if NOT all) people in the comment section, didn't see it yet in person, so IF you don't, shut the F up! Have a great day to y'all
Its nice to see Lincoln really starting to stand out as it's own brand. GM is going to have to revisit the ancient Escalade/Yukon SUV's now. Competition is always a good thing!
Had 2 Escalades. Just test drove and bought a Navigator. Absolutely 100% better than the Escalade. Still can't believe how nice and extremely comfortable it is.
Just bought one this weekend, it's amazing. I traded in my Yukon Denali without hesitating. In those 4 hours I was there Lincoln sold 5 of them!! They can't keep up with the demand. It's a unbelievable experience to drive one of these new Navigators!
The only issue is the enormous wheels they're aiming for with all models. They need to understand this just gives an uncomfortable ride with bumps and potholes, especially when considering the global market with countries that have shit roads.
IMO that's the new Escalade that looks just like a Hearse. Everytime I see one on the road I pull over to take off my hat and put my hand over my heart.

I love Lincoln's, they have such an interesting and different style then other luxury brands. Probably would go with a Lincoln over Mercedes or Bentley.
Three things to ALWAYS check for before buying any car or truck. 1) Verify you can shut off ALL lights with the car in gear. Absolutely essential for going to drive-in movies for waiting outside for someone at night. 2) Verify the PASSENGER can enter an address into the navigation system when the vehicle is moving. 3) The engine does not shut off when stopping for a red light. All the above hurt resale value big time.
I'm so glad Lincoln finally stepped up their game. Maybe separating from FoMoCo is what they needed. I've been riding in Lincolns since the 1940's - they were magnificent icons of of automotive design and engineering in those days. The last Lincoln I owned was a 1984 Town Car in the Cartier edition. It was a spectacular sedan that actually got 24 MPG on the highway with that little, but powerful 302 V8. Since then, however, I've had to buy Cadillacs, and both the DTS and the Escalade (nothing but a Chevy suburban in drag) have both been perennial disappointments - and I've traded them in every year or two. NOW, I finally have a choice in the luxury SUV department! Thank you for this revelatory review, and thank you Lincoln for rejoining the fight. This time I know we'll win.
As a die hard Ford owner if I was in the market for a large SUV I would have to pick the V-8 Escalade over the Lincoln for the same reason I own an F150 5.0 instead of the 3.5. It's all about the motor. Of course I would pick the Mustang Shelby 350 over the AMG Benz.
Amy Davis I'll agree on the sound but the reliability of the 3.5 is very good. We have many in our Police fleet, no engine problems other then a few water pumps.

You are absolutely right, Caddy has held their spot with their SUV for a long while and I am a true caddy fan, however, these last few years, I have been nothing but disappointed with them and actually started considering getting a Tahoe UNTIL THE 2018 NAVIGATOR came out. OMG....they seriously have stepped up and knocked the escalade out of the way. No wonder why so many dealers are taking a bunch of escalade trade ins just for the new navigator. AWESOME JOB LINCOLN. Did Mercedes-Benz design the interior ? That same chrome speaker mesh is found in the S class. The front seat adjustment being on the doors is the same design of the S class !

Because the 2018 Lincoln Navigator is selling really well for the first few months since it was on sale and SUVs and crossovers are in high demand, Lincoln is planning to bring back the Aviator SUV, slotting in between the Nautilus and the Navigator. The Aviator was a rebaded Ford Explorer made for the 2002-2005 model years.
LOVE the video! Lincoln is making a come back starting with the Continental now the Navigator. Its gonna be interesting what Cadillac, Infiniti, GMC and others do with their full size premium suvs in the future.

It’s obviously a great, roomy, luxurious, technologically-advanced, super comfortable, engaging, and expensive family ‘car/station wagon’ designed mostly for the urban environments, but is it really the best off-road-capable ‘SUV’ ever made? Definitely not.

Rich people don't go off-roading its "uncivilized". they focused on making the driving experience and making it smooth and enjoyable and if you need to go a little off-road then you can but you don't take a luxury SUV into the wilderness anyway that's what junk cars like jeep and range rover and chevys are for so if you get stuck then you can just leave it and not have to worry about you nice vehicles being ruined.
Like, half of the ford truck lineup has this motor now. Transit vans, f150's f250's etc, ford expeditions, this lincoln, *mustangs, ford gt* (i think not sure) and i think the taurus SHO
The Q7 costs a ton and doesn't even have rear controls, crazy adjustable seats or anything close to the level of this car...I'm not a fan of the exterior or rear seat design in the Navigator, but I I think the quality of materials and the features are way ahead of any Audi SUV right now.

It does not have the "best safety features", I'm not sure where you heard that. The SQ7 is the sporty model of the Q7 - it has more power, but not more room, just slightly different covering on the seats. If ford invested so much into a vehicle and they had a goal of selling x amount of vehicles ,but they have such high demand that they have to produce more ,that means they are selling more then they wanted to and they are succeeding. Its nice to see Lincoln really starting to stand out as it's own brand. GM is going to have to revisit the ancient Escalade/Yukon SUV's now. Competition is always a good thing!
Had 2 Escalades. Just test drove and bought a Navigator. Absolutely 100% better than the Escalade. Still can't believe how nice and extremely comfortable it is.

Just bought one this weekend, it's amazing. I traded in my Yukon Denali without hesitating. In those 4 hours I was there Lincoln sold 5 of them!! They can't keep up with the demand. It's a unbelievable experience to drive one of these new Navigators!
The only issue is the enormous wheels they're aiming for with all models. They need to understand this just gives an uncomfortable ride with bumps and potholes, especially when considering the global market with countries that have shit roads.

My opionion is that the best SUV is the Bentley Bentayga. It costs a lot more but it has the best finish and 600HP

Three things to ALWAYS check for before buying any car or truck. 1) Verify you can shut off ALL lights with the car in gear. Absolutely essential for going to drive-in movies for waiting outside for someone at night. 2) Verify the PASSENGER can enter an address into the navigation system when the vehicle is moving. 3) The engine does not shut off when stopping for a red light. All the above hurt resale value big time.

I'm so glad Lincoln finally stepped up their game. Maybe separating from FoMoCo is what they needed. I've been riding in Lincolns since the 1940's - they were magnificent icons of of automotive design and engineering in those days. The last Lincoln I owned was a 1984 Town Car in the Cartier edition. It was a spectacular sedan that actually got 24 MPG on the highway with that little, but powerful 302 V8. Since then, however, I've had to buy Cadillacs, and both the DTS and the Escalade (nothing but a Chevy suburban in drag) have both been perennial disappointments - and I've traded them in every year or two. NOW, I finally have a choice in the luxury SUV department! Thank you for this revelatory review, and thank you Lincoln for rejoining the fight. This time I know we'll win.

As a die hard Ford owner if I was in the market for a large SUV I would have to pick the V-8 Escalade over the Lincoln for the same reason I own an F150 5.0 instead of the 3.5. It's all about the motor. Of course I would pick the Mustang Shelby 350 over the AMG Benz.
RD the 3.5 is great engine, beats the 5.0 in every way.

Amy Davis I'll agree on the sound but the reliability of the 3.5 is very good. We have many in our Police fleet, no engine problems other then a few water pumps.
Amy Davis benjamin is right the 3.5 eco is a great engine speaking as a ford cert tech either engines is very reliable. Now on sound nothing sounds better than 5.0

You are absolutely right, Caddy has held their spot with their SUV for a long while and I am a true caddy fan, however, these last few years, I have been nothing but disappointed with them and actually started considering getting a Tahoe UNTIL THE 2018 NAVIGATOR came out. OMG....they seriously have stepped up and knocked the escalade out of the way. No wonder why so many dealers are taking a bunch of escalade trade ins just for the new navigator. AWESOME JOB LINCOLN. Im getting the black label !!!!! It speaks for itself !!!

Because the 2018 Lincoln Navigator is selling really well for the first few months since it was on sale and SUVs and crossovers are in high demand, Lincoln is planning to bring back the Aviator SUV, slotting in between the Nautilus and the Navigator. The Aviator was a rebaded Ford Explorer made for the 2002-2005 model years.

It’s obviously a great, roomy, luxurious, technologically-advanced, super comfortable, engaging, and expensive family ‘car/station wagon’ designed mostly for the urban environments, but is it really the best off-road-capable ‘SUV’ ever made? Definitely not.
but that just it. It's not made to be. Rich people don't go off-roading its "uncivilized". they focused on making the driving experience and making it smooth and enjoyable and if you need to go a little off-road then you can but you don't take a luxury SUV into the wilderness anyway that's what junk cars like jeep and range rover and chevys are for so if you get stuck then you can just leave it and not have to worry about you nice vehicles being ruined.

The Q7 costs a ton and doesn't even have rear controls, crazy adjustable seats or anything close to the level of this car...I'm not a fan of the exterior or rear seat design in the Navigator, but I I think the quality of materials and the features are way ahead of any Audi SUV right now.

How are the average Honda Civic looking seats in the Q7, with no controls, reclining or complex arm rests and nice materials remotely as luxurious as those? Even the Bentley SUV only has a bit more wood and nicer leather stitching but not really anything crazy.
