Thanks for redoing these with the heavy clothing barrier! That's the real deal breaker for me. If the round doesn't pass that test, then I pass that ammo up!

The heavy clothing test claims another one. To me this is much more realistic than 4 layers of denim. Most people layer up like this. So ammo’s true colors comes out. They sure look like XTP’s to me. Awesome test as always my friend 👍🇺🇸

@@arguy3297 the 4LD test was actually meant to be an engineering test, developed by the International Wound Ballistics Association, because bullets that passed the FBI heavy clothing test were still failing on the street. The bullets that can pass the 4LD test were not failing on the street.

Old timer here. I stopped being a velocity nut several years ago. I shoot/carry nothing but 124 grain in 9x19. Never tried this particular ammo, but 124 is what I stick with no matter what I use. Sectional density and kinetic energy is far more important than most people realize it seems, although I admit it is not as 'exciting' as the lightweight hot velocity numbers.

    • @nathanlambshead4778
      @nathanlambshead4778 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@acid6urns Light and fast also can give you deflection and less penetration. There is a balance of the two that works, for each caliber. Sectional density is the most important 3rd factor in penetration. And a short squat extra light for caliber bullet is a formula for failure on bone, muscle, hide, dense clothes, etc.
But each of us chooses what we carry. I choose the best combination I know of for 35 caliber handgun bullets, and that, to me, is 124 grain.

The only Ammo Inc's that I have are their 45acp JHPs. Nothing in 9mm or any other caliber. I shot up my box of Ammo Inc 45 TMCs the last trip to the range after I think you discovered they were weak sauce. But the JHPs performed well.
Anyway, good test. Good velocity out of 3.0" barrel. Cant3 be totally unhappy with the 124 performance, but clearly dollars spent on Federal HST, Punch, or Hydoshock Deeps would more consistent performers.

I don't have access to gel blocks and no way to catch the bullet but I did have a couple gallon water jugs. I shot one with the ammo inc115 gr fmj, the other jug with ammo inc 115 gr jhp. As you might expect the fmj had a small entry hole and did manage to split the back of the jug from top to bottom. The jhp however jumped the jug 2 feet in the air and peeled the whole jug out into one large sheet of plastic. I don't know if the bullet expanded because I couldn't catch it but it sure messed the jug up

We need some 16” 9mm carbine videos! Vs clear gel and vs Fabric barrier and clear gel! The 16” picks up velocity in 9mm and that extra speed helps them do their thang I would love to see how all of these popular rounds perform in a 16” 9mm carbine! The 16” carbine adds 200-4/500fps depending on the weight which can be just perfect for 9mm defensive munitions and home defense/truck defense/ranch defense/Security unity et etc scenarios! Let’s see what the 16” 9mm carbine does it could be a hidden gem (Which I know it is)!!!!
The data would serve the community well and also show how 16” 9mm carbines are very effective! From recoil, to expansion, to over-penetration, to lethality, to power on target and accuracy, maneuverability, power and range! All force multipliers for the full sized 16” 9mm carbine 👍
Ps. I love the 4-9”/10.5” 9mm carbines but the 16” has proven to be the most effective 9mm carbine for defense if we could have test results publicly it would serve us greatly! 3 points of contact, accuracy, reliable expansion with standard 9mm defensive loads, 357 mag power with standard 100-124gr projectiles, capacity, recoil management for anyone in the vicinity etc etc all point to the 16” 9mm carbine being a very viable self defense tool that is overlooked and maybe through testing can get the shine it deserves!
500ft/lbs-700ft/lbs of energy is nothing to sneeze at especially when it is effective and excelling at things that a pistol or shorter barrel simply cannot do!

Instead of using layers of denims as a cloth barrier test , where I live in the Gulf Coast the standard wear is t-shirts . So maybe use just a t-shirt or better yet with a hoodie since that is what most criminals wear down here . Using the standard criminal clothing of a hoodie would be more real world . And I always wondered why they used denim , blue jean material unless their intent was shooting someone in the ass or crotch .

Usually does depending on how much longer.

Looks like xtp from Hornady. You need at least 1100 for xtp's to open up.

Just a bit more speed would give it an opportunity to perform. 124 isn't a complete fail as long as it does this consistently. Appreciate the demonstration.

I enjoy your videos and the results that they provide. Wonder how they would perform in 4inch or longer barrel guns not everyone may want to use a 3inch or carry a small handgun. Keep up the great videos.

I've had nothing but issues with ammo inc, maybe it was a bad box but I can't get any of ammo Inc's jhp to chamber in my cz p01, even with the barrel out of the gun. The brass isn't sized correctly. My springfield 911 in 380 gets light primer strikes with ammo inc only.

Hopefully Ammo Inc listens to you Tools just like Sierra did with their old skool screw up ammo. Glad they got some good stuff now thanks to you. It will go band. 124 gr would use for if nothing else is available. Thanks for all you do. ♠️🎩🎯🎱🇺🇲🏁🇺🇦🔱🌻🌸💮🌼🏴‍☠️🏹

@@ToolsandTargets yeah I didn't know whose bullets they use.
I know they have regular hollow-point and then they have a copper HP. I've got both I think right now I still have some Speer G2 in my magazines though, so not carrying them as of right now.

I think it looks like the 124 tumbled right-side forward early, losing some of the hollow points obstruction, and so it opened up.
I would guess that each lobe on those large disruption areas is a 180 ° flip.

Very odd results, however, if 5 rounds of each cartridge were shot, I bet the 115g bullet might (randomly) bloom out on some shots.
