- Reviewing the HTC VIVE Cosmos Elite, one of the more expensive VR gaming headsets with full camera tracking for 6 degrees of freedom. If you want to experience next-gen PC VR games, and you have the space and money to spare, this'll play all of the big titles like Half Life Alyx.
The VIVE Cosmos is one of HTC's most premium virtual reality headsets, capable of playing games from the Viveport store as well as Steam VR. This is the Elite version, which also comes with two external cameras for tracking your position, while the headset's lenses can track your motions for impressive precision.
I've been testing out the VIVE Cosmos Elite and the technology is definitely impressive, if pricey. Of course, you have to be tethered to your PC the whole time, and you'll need a reasonably beefy rig to get a smooth VR performance. Not to mention plenty of room to really make the most of it.
Of course, if it's convenience you're after, the Oculus Quest is still the best (and more affordable) option. But The Cosmos offers a stronger selection of games and incredible visuals, for the most immersive experience. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี

I thought the video was great and very well put together, but you kind of made it sound like the oculus quest is the only other VR headset you can buy. I personally think you could have mentioned that the Rift s and the valve index existed as those are 2 more different price ranges. This would allow the viewer to acknowledge that if they want a cheaper PCVR headset that they should go watch a Rift s review, or if they have more money to spare you could mention the valve index. I understand that this is not a comparison, I just wish that you included the other options along with the pricing. Once again amazing review just I think you could have added these details :)
Get some sticky hooks and retractable id badge holders, you can suspend your vr cable above you from ceiling.

Thank you for doing this review. Question- I know that it has been a year since you posted this vid. However, I am just starting out with, wanted to try a pc VR- headset. I did purchase the Oculus go. Found it to be pretty impressive as it was the first time, I had ever tried VR. Another However.. lol - I have a gaming account and have some games are VR compatible. So was just looking into getting one for the PC. Could you suggest a cheaper PC VR headset. as I like this one- just I know I will not use it enough to balance out the cost.
Another question. I heard the Oculus go could be changed to work with online gaming accounts., do you know if this is true.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I tried the VIVE back when it was still a new concept, and required a way overpriced PC to play, and I instantly fell in love. I'm finally to a point that I'm considering buying and this video, especially with the fact that you an Oculus rift fan, is keeping me wanting the VIVE. Yes it's pricey but the experience is amazing in my opinion 😊

Absolutely get VR. Yes, it's an expensive upfront cost, but it pays itself overtime with how much you end up playing
they aint 'Cameras' mate. they are more like barcode scanners. The headset detects the laser from those 'base stations' to figure out where it is. its basically GPS for your face.

I bought a rift s and was playing it until I joined Facebook with a brand new account in my avatar name. A few days later I received a mail telling me I’m banned without giving me a reason.
I could ask for them to review my account if I give them my personal cell number so they can “verify it’s me” don’t know how they would as I have never given a cell number.
Anyway I sent back the oculus and because of Facebook I will never buy their products ever again. I could still play my games but I could not join multiplayer games also I could not play offline as it requested me to sign in to Facebook to turn on the device.
Oculus should not have sold out to a greedy data grubbing company it’s their loss now.
I have bought htc elite in 3 payments over three months to break up the cost somewhat.

The cons:narrow fov,gets a little warm which drys my eyes out but moisturising eye drops prevent that,built in headphones are just awful.
My advice: a lot has happened in the last four months and new tech has been revealed I would wait for the new clear-optics type model headsets although the cosmos elite was launched they knew it was only temporary because new designs where right behind it.
Tbh I wish I done more research into it before I got my revenge on Facebook. I cut my nose off to spite my face.

The 'cameras' are not camera's. its a little spinning ball of IR lasers. Its worth noting that the base units (the camera thingy's) vibrate so will eventually jump of shelves if they arent otherwise held down with tape etc. They have standard camera mount screw holes though so can be mounted to camera tripods easily.
Compared to other headsets i find the forehead rest that enables the visor to lift up without moving the halo-band hurts my forehead after an hour or two, especially when doing exercise games where it gets VERY hot on my forehead due to the pressure and zero airflow. I much preferred the original vives halo-band.
The mic on the HTC headsets is a waste of time, they should just not include one if they wont make an effort to make it usable, catches every slight exhale :(
The IDP adjustment is a little sensitive to, so it can sometimes popup in front of your eyes blocking your game for awhile until it times out, theres no way to dismiss it manually :(
The headphones are very good and comfortable.
The wireless adapter you can get for this also requires an internal PCI-E slot and add-in card for your PC so very awkward to use with a laptop (needs knowledge of m.2 drive extensions and opening the laptop).
I've had mine since release day. Had zero issues with the headset, controllers or wireless adapter other than the wireless adapter gets hot and the already mentioned uncomfortable forehead rest thing. From what I hear of the index, this is slightly lower on most specs but unlike the valve index it doesnt break so easily. I've even used mine for a few months doing a public VR event at a local pub, so its seen some torture and its fine, and personal use the rest of the time mostly exercise type games. The headset lenses sit far enough away from your face that it CAN be used with most glasses, just lower the visor slowly over the glasses to avoid scratches.
Its a shame that HTC abandoned this product line. The headset was made modular and even has an empty internal lens intended for eye tracking module that they never released :(
The inside out tracking faceplate is a total waste of money for anything beyond watching a movie. They never did fix the tracking issues on the inside out tracking and the inside out tracking controllers are not supported in most games. I have a second headset with the inside out faceplate as I bought that first expecting to just replace the faceplate but the price of the faceplate was nearly as much as buying a second headset so i bought a second elite version of the headset so i had a fallback in case anything broke so have both versions.
Tips:
You can get a little better FOV if you replace the cushion face interface with the thinner silicon ones.
The tracking is a little better if the base units (camera thingys in this video) can see each other directly pointing towards each other with a slight down angle
its worth setting up your play space in steam vr EVERY time you play. not sure why but steam and vive software updates happen CONSTANTLY and seem to screw things up, so always reset before playing.
dont try to play with this headset on anything lower than a 1070/5700xt. the resolution is to high to use a 970 without rendering lower than the displays are capable of (blurry mess)

i purchased the cosmos elite a week back or so. The headset feels and looks high quality. HOWEVER, there are 2 selloffs that take away form my enjoyment of vr. first is the edge blur or the "small sweet spot" where everything in your close peripherals are blurry and it looks like the only way to slightly fix it is to push the headset closer to my face. a huge part of this is due to the flip up feature. overall it throws me off and takes away some immersion. next is the mic, the mic quality is under whelming. i also dont know what it is but anything with distance from you looks blurry (unlike my previous oculus cv1) things up close however look amazing. overall id say invest in the index for the extra 100usd. this is a good headset for sure but i cant say its as good as the index in most ways. 7 or 8/10
will it run well on a rx 5700?
I have one Quest 2, I tested a PICO G2, and now I see this HTC Vive, but I'm not impressed : because it's been three years and standalone VR headsets haven't evolved much. 4K resolution is not a big deal (2000 pixels per eye). I guess in a few years we will see real 6K resolution headsets (I'm talking about standalone ones, not the wired ones). I despise the screendoor effect, and while the HTC Vive appears to have slightly higher resolution than the Oculus Quest 2, I will wait a few years before purchasing a new headset. I will wait for the real 6K.

3mx3m is factually wrong. You only need about 1.5mx1m, obviously bigger is better, but 3mx3m is not the minimum at all

If you don't have 1 thousand dollars... save up the money so you can get a good and newer headset.
Rift S is better value and controllers, Cosmos Elite is better resolution and tracking, plus the option for wireless.
Cosmos Elite, better LCD and tracking as well.
It's a different controller because they use different tracking systems.

It's bad when the world has been going through such a difficult time and people are taking advantage of it by inflating the prices on a lot of things especially these VR headsets. You get a lot of people like this are on here promoting these headset knowing about this well know issue but as long as you can help make money off people it's all good.

I've heard the cosmos isn't great and the index is better.
Cosmos Elite actually has better resolution than the index, and the base stations that come with the cosmos elite are compatible with the index controllers so you can always get those if you want
@@oats2949 But the Index has a better framerate, higher FOV, greater comfortability, comes with better base stations and you don't have to purchase the controllers separately, thus not wasting money on the Vive controllers that you'll never use. The higher resolution on the Cosmos is negligible too as Index is 1440 x 1600 per eye vs the Cosmos' 1440 x 1700 per eye
