Goodwill has become very corporate and profit-driven. They don't seem to care much about actually helping communities anymore or they would still sell these donations locally. None of the Goodwill stores here have any kind of electronics. I don't donate anything to them anymore, it all goes to the Habitat ReStore, who will happily sell broken things even, which is my kind of place.
I've been disappointed by that as well. That being said as a business decision it makes sense...sell the products where you can get the most money for them. It makes shopping at their physical stores a lot less fun though.
We also have habitat ReStores around here. I wonder if it's bigger then I expected. I was only aware of them being in my state, and I'm pretty sure we only have 2.
I like the ReStore my mom got a treadle from there, and two weeks ago i got a vintage Crosley radio console/phonograph combo for 40$, had all the original parts considering it was made in 1946-1949.
Goodwill isn't a charity, they just have a job training program...like many other stores. I will still shop there but I treat them as a business like they are. I just don't agree with them marketing themselves as a sudo charity when they really aren't.
I said the same at first, but if you heard he said it came with 10 games, 2 controllers, and the camera, and those on their own can be 150 to 300 on their own
It's not always about accessibility for the stuff they sell. Purchases support programs to help people find and keep jobs, and other community programs, so if you go in and buy something expensive, you're still helping a good cause.
Yep, exactly. You never know for sure what it'll be like. In my experience it's usually too expensive as well. People pay crazy amounts for this stuff.
Most electronics unless vintage at most are tested to see if they are powered on and that is about it. Anything else besides that is extra and depends from what store it is from.
Honestly the fact that goodwill has an ebay store and their own auction site is such BS. The CEO laughs himself to sleep at night. People literally give him their stuff and then he sells it for a 100% profit with barely any going to actual charity
@@ThatllbeGreat1 The numbers are kind of all over the board, but for example at one time the head of Salvation Army took in around $125k for a years salary, meanwhile the head of Goodwill took in almost $750k for one year.

I mean, if one of your loved died, you got nothing to remember them by, and you see little kids putting dirty slime inside something that gave you and that person happy memories, wouldn’t you be mad? I would be glad if they just gave one shirt to me... I got nothing. Maybe a console may seem trash to you, but I had too many memories with him on that console.
This v1 controller suffered the same fate mine did, in that I used it so much i melted off the thumbsticks from use. However the previous owner got a v2 controller and it's easily survived. The biggest problem is v2 controllers drift easily and quickly in my experience over v1's. Plus I'll hazard a guess that R2 button is missing the \o/ type spring. But its nice to see that console had a decent owner previously. just some 'well loved' controllers.
Yep, the PS4 was in pretty good condition. They likely weren't from the same person. Goodwill probably just put them together with this PS4 to sell the bundle together.
I bought the gran turismo limited edition controller for $80, sticky buttons within a year, not a physical problem but a hardware problem you press the button and it would register for an extra 3 seconds
Also worth noting is that Goodwill generally tries to give back to needy folks in the community. A guy who came from a poor family came and worked at our farm, and Goodwill paid for him as part of one of their programs. Surprised you didn't check all the game cases, tbh. I would have expected one or two to be empty or have the wrong game inside.
I maybe should have. It's hard to know what to cut out sometimes. Yes, Goodwill does do good. They also pay their higher ups a ton of money. I'd love to see them spread that out a little but hey, it's their business.
@@Tronicsfix Unfortunately that's the case with so many charities, some even pay more in wages than goes out to the people/animals they are meant to be supporting

So... What exactly happened to earlier this year where a brand new PS4 Pro was only 240€ (~280$). That pushed down the prices on the use market by extreme amounts, and while the used market is still down, the retail prices seem to be back up at close to 300€ for a slim and around 400€ for a pro, while the used market is still down...
A couple years ago, I bought a used original PS4 from you and I have to say that it works quite well. Only problem is that the disc drive acting wonky (months later I got the console). At times, they eject the disc itself during gameplay. Other than that, the console still works well even though it's rarely played often. I can still play digitally downloaded games no problem. Also, I've swapped the hard drive to a 960GB SSD. I'm amazed you were able to find a PS4 from Goodwill in working condition plus games.
Question This has nothing to do with the video but I just watched the overheated PS4 video and I was confused When your ps4 overheats all you need to do is reconnect the fans and it will work just fine or is more work needed?

I was surprised by that as well.
I absolutely love these videos there so interesting especially since we don't have these shops in Ireland I would love to see more video keep up the great work I absolutely love your videos
What a generous donation to charity. We need more people like that!
My experience with Goodwills online store is you either get it for open bid or overpay for it. That being said, I put a lot of offers in at opening bid.
of course we want to see more videos! give the people what we want!
i got my ps4 slim on ebay for $184 lol. perfect condition. the controller was a little janky but i usually replace those anyway cause i don’t like touching other peoples used controllers
It's pretty common for stuff to sell on Goodwill's online site for much more than you can just go buy it in eBay.
i got a slim on ebay too for $200 with 2 controllers , now i think I've been ripped off
With that wallet it doesn't matter if its worth 5 usd, you get ripped off.
The rest of the video is excellent as always.
I would like to see more of goodwill
Thanks for the feedback!
Definitely show us the other stuff you got, I want to see you take them apart and fix them! If they need it anyway
I'm amazed you were able to find a PS4 from Goodwill in working condition plus games.
can you make a more retro repair?? that will be awesome! love your videos! all the best for you from argentina
How much storage does the ps4 have?
500GB
Question
This has nothing to do with the video but I just watched the overheated PS4 video and I was confused
When your ps4 overheats all you need to do is reconnect the fans and it will work just fine or is more work needed?
You need to clean it buddy.
