I Paid $99 for a BROKEN Xbox Elite 2 - This One Was A Tricky Fix. The controller was in pretty good condition except for the strong smoke smell. However, after testing I found several of the buttons didn't work. Once I got the controller opened up I found the controller had liquid damage. Cleaned everything up and tested it again...but the buttons still didn't work. Reflowed a BGA chip on one of the motherboards...but that also didn't get the buttons working. Then I noticed more liquid damage on another one of the chips. Cleaned that up and resoldered the joints and then tested the buttons again and...they worked! A bit of a tricky fix but good to finally get everything working.

10:21 I found a solution to drifting analog sticks. All you need to do is pry open those 2 green containers on the module. There should be a small disc in there. You just have to clean that entire container and the disk with isopropyl alcohol and place the disk in perfectly. Your problem should be solved instantly. Works for me every time, however it’s a temporary solution lasting for about 6 months or as long as a normal analog stick.

Funny you would make a video on this controller, I recently purchased a faulty Xbox One Elite Series 2 controller myself for €79. Upon opening it up, I was kind of shocked at the state of it, I have a hard time understanding what happened to it but I got it to work in the end.
It was missing the magnet for the hall effect sensor on the left trigger (I could only find one from an elite series 1 on ebay, figured it would do).
The support bracket for the magnet was broken and the broken half was missing as well (I could only find these brackets for either the regular controllers, ended up ordering one for an S controller).
The left shoulder button didn't work, didn't even click in (turns out the metal plate it fits onto had been bent a lot, had to realign it).
The right trigger rattled when vibrating (had to tighten it down).
In the process of opening the previous owner broken one of the little pillar that holds the left bumper in, no biggie, it works fine without that. They also broke one of the structures that holds thee controller fascia into place and they broke one of the structures that holds the silver plastic on the top of the controller into place so it looks slightly misaligned.
Anyway, I got it to work fine and I'm happy with that.

André Coelho I bought a DualShock 4 off eBay which had a broken analog stick/drift issue. I replaced the joystick module and still had the stick drift. There’s two resistors and depending on which way the game character moves with the stick drift, one or both will have to be replaced. The character moves back on its own and won’t move forward so that tells me the resistor on the left has to be changed. You’ll have to keep changing the resistor until you find the right one and luckily I only have had to change it once or twice.

I had 4 Elite Series 2 controllers and all 4 had an A button that didn't always register when pressed; that's right out of the box.
