The turbocharger with an electronically controlled bypass flap, as used in the K series Boosterjet 1.0 litre engine, allows for more precise control of the boost pressure and reduces turbo lag. However, it also adds complexity and cost to the system. The turbocharger with an integrated wastegate valve, as used in the 1.0 TSI engine, simplifies the system and reduces weight and space requirements. However, it may not be able to achieve the same level of boost pressure and responsiveness as the other type.

I really like how both of you are educating people about VAG cars and do agree with Hyundai engines being inferior to VAG's however when it comes to Japanese it's a completely different story, I do not know if the Japanese engines are tested as rigorously as Munishji said the VWs are, but market and global tuning culture has proven the strength of Japanese engines. My point here is Japenese engines shouldn't be called out along the Koreans (Just my opinion)
dont be bothered by his opinion he himself has zero idea about what he is talking about he doesnt have the basic idea about superchargers and turbo chargers and he is giving GYAAN about engine reliability and tuning
japan only made 2 engines which are capable of extreme tuning 2jz and vtech turbo and both of them cant match the tuning potential of a 1.8 tsi and 2L tsi even in supra they are using bmw engine even whole new supra is made by bmw
Can we have remap comparison with MPI and vtec engine? It is better to have apple (NA) to apple (NA) comparison. This will give the right picture of change in output after stage one. BTW 1.0 turbo ivtec with stage 1 map is rated at 150 BHP and 250 NM. Also when you talk about 1.0 TSI peak torque and compare it with 1.5 NA, can we factor in torque distribution of both the engines?

Munishji,Can you tell some information about Honda's VTEC TURBO engine selling in other markets in next video Their 1.5 VTEC TURBO makes 180bhp stock where VW's makes 150bhp.. Also Honda not even considering turbo engines for indian market..If cost was the reason then vw wouldn't launched their tsi engines in india.. We can't forget that Honda launched City with Proper 1.5 VTEC, Accord V6 etc which was a rocket then realised that indians want mileage resulting VTEC to i-VTEC.. They should consider 1.0 and 1.5 VTEC turbos for India but I think they aren't considering because of mainly four reasons: 1. Very less sales volume, less profit 2. They r treating indian market as 3rd grade which they actually doing by not launching good cars like HRV, Civic,Crv,Brv etc 3. Reliability issues because of india's poor fuel quality and they don't want to spoil their name in Reliability 4. They want to focus on Hybrids instead of turbos as turbo engines delivers less fuel efficiency and hybrids delivers the most and indians want fuel efficiency that's why... I think honda makes one of the best engines worldwide and known for their reliability also...Last year's F1 race says it all..

One point i would like to add/correct at 9:54..apart from only Map to differentiate power figures in Hyundai's Crdi engine was Variable geometry turbo and fixed geometry turbo. Venue/ i20's old diesel 1.4 crdi used to come up with Fixed geometry Turbo (FGT) which was little lazy where as creta and verna also came with 1.4 crdi ( FGT) in lower models and In higher models 1.6 Crdi Variable geometry turbo that was more more punchier. Nowadays only one 1.5 CRDI is coming but still in different turbos(FGT and VGT) with little difference in power and torque figures. FGT coming up with venue/ i20 i don't know if they have discontinued diesel variant in them but in creta/ verna they are giving only 1.5 Crdi VGT. Correct me if i am wrong.
They didn’t discontinued diesel in venue they discontinued diesel only in i20 and Verna …Instead New gen Verna got replaced with 1.5 Turbo Petrol …Still Creta Alcazar and venue having diesel with Ad blue filling due to BS6 phase 2 norms…
It is noisy at all gears, when you start the engine it run at 1100-1200rpm for 1-2 minutes before coming down to 800-900rpm, just start the car check the rpm, go out and observed the engine sound for 2 min come back inside car note current rpm difference.
Please check videos of mukesh Chandra gond (noida) he will tell you that most reliable engines are of maruti and Hyundai not these German brands Even if they brought 270hp in a lab that doesn't tell you how many minutes did the engine last without breaking down
Sir I own a Taigun 1.0 manual.. i feel it getting stalled on height or little slope (which it shouldn’t otherwise) in picking up in 1st gear.. if anyone else felt so plz highlight
I also need to share my view on the 1.0 TSI. I own a Kushaq. I bought it in march and last week I took it to Samruddhi Expressway. I had 4 other passengers plus a little over average luggage in the back. I know the risk was unnecessary, but I took it to 180 exactly. The best part was the rear seat passengers didn't even know they were at that speed. I won't do it again (atleast not with family ;) ) Best 16lacs in a car I could have spent. Also I had one doubt, do turbo performance decrease with increase in outside temperature ?

Thank u very much for this video Bhai.. waiting for full fledged video on engine remap.. Was always interested in this topic but didn't realise that Manish ji would speak positively about it.. Now very very excited for that video❤
Very insightful session. Just wanted to know one more thing. If 1.0 TSI is working on 30-40% pf capacity then shouldn't the VAG increase the potential since they are facing AC issues at slow speeds? 1.5 does not have this issue only 1.0 has. Maybe they are taming it bit too much.
Engines can make way more power than their original stock conditions. But in the process its life decreases dramatically. Look at the drag race engines, they are monstrosities in terms of raw power to displacement ratio they but cannot last more than one race. If you have to remap the ECU for more power, you need to change each stress bearing part right from the piston heads, pistons, crankshaft, gear teeth, clutches, driveshaft and everything. Otherwise the car is going be a pile of junk after few years of use. The same thing happened with VW TDi engines. The DSG was poorly designed and was unable to bear the stress of high power and it dented VW's name quite badly. Manish ji you know everything but you have to consider all these things too. VW can make a 1.0 TSI make 270 BHP so can any other engine available in market but they choose to set an upper limit to enforce reliability. Edit- If you just remap the ECU without doing hefty changes in the entire drivetrain ..lord have mercy on your car. Edit2- HONDA japanese engines are epitomes of F1 race since decades. Japanese tag is not equal to bad. You ignore the fact that Toyota is a Japanese brand and its Supra is a top tier sports car globally. You also ignore tha fact that VW tried to scam the world with dieselgate, the same TDi engines are your pearls of engineering marvel. This is not good manishji. Edit 3- Sundardeep Paaji, aap kuch bhi Mnishji jo bolte hai usko analyse karo pehle, fir daalo. Otherwise Knowledgeable audience dheere dheere door ho jayenge appki channel se.
Agree, engineering is all about creating a system to get best out of everything following pros and cons. Pretty sure German automobile engineers has reasons to keep the limitation. As owner of Virtus Topline which has 1.0 TSI, will keep it in stock configuration. The random tuners can never understand complexity of engineering.
Bro this guy munishji needs to stop talking cars and maybe take some gym classes mate. He’a even telling supercharger is next level of turbos. Like wtf man. The anatomy goes like this according to him 1. Turbo 2. Twin turbo 3. Supercharger 😂 Never heard of car with 4 superchargers. However, he doesn’t mention quad turbo setup. Ferrari don’t use supercharger in their cars. In fact Ferrari doesnt like forced induction in its engines. Most of the Ferraris are NA and few are turbo powered for obvious reasons. Get this dude out of here man
@@gsingh5812 very well said , this guy whoever he is has little knowledge about things and is just riding the skoda vw wave in INDIA but is doing more harm than good by spreading wrong information . this dude has no right to be talking about engines on a youtube channel. But we couldn’t see many cars of VW and Škoda which are kept more than 10+ years on roads? People are leaving that bcz of high running and repairs/high maintenance…etc don’t have peace of mind after the machine starts give more workers? Need to do some analysis as well for people
Brilliant video.. I have Skoda slavia 1.0.. love the car.. was planning to replace Honda Civic (2019) next year with KIA EV6.. but after hearing how German technology is far superior than Koreans, will definitely wait for a better EV from Germans house
i agree that the driveability below 1750 especially in the city is worst...but to your question I think when turbo spools up at 1400 means it drinks more fuel from lower RPMS itself which results worst fuel economy...my thoughts 🧐
The turbo takes time to spool. Why? Because it take time to build pressure from the exhaust which then helps in spinning the turbo which then add more air to the engine along with fuel. 1 litre engine will need a bigger turbo to output power. The bigger the turbo. More the turbo lag at low rpms
@Apuroop you are right, it will be ok with 95 octane xp95, downside at lower rpm 1200-1800 and lower speed the fuel consumption is 70% higher, as speed build up efficiency is better than any other petrol engine.
Regarding making it like diesel, these high compression turbocharged GDI engines are trying to function like diesel, once E20 is available widely, it will become king and NA engine will become nuts. The high ethanol content will help to burn petrol much better.
I agree with this fact that these 1.0 TSIs will last. But saying that Japanese engines or Korean engines will not last as long is incorrect I feel. If that would have indeed been the case, then why would terro***ts use Japanese vehicles in the desserts of Middle eastern countries? Also any engine can be tuned to higher power specs including Hyundai engines. These TGDI engines already do duty in other Hyundai vehicles worldwide in varying states of tune with max output at 200 bhp and I am sure that would be limited by the company to enhance life. What Manish ji is saying about VW TSIs being tested to produce 272 bhp would be in very controlled conditions and would lower the life of their engines as well. All in all I feel that the engineering has progressed to such a level now that it’s hard to pick a winner here. Also the 1L TSI engine that is being used in VAG cars in India is basically from the EA211 range which basically is a 1.6L 4 cylinder block which may be chopped to a 3 cylinder as required and may be turbocharged as required. Similar goes for a Hyundai engine. So I personally believe that there should be no difference in the reliability and if at all there is, it would be marginal.
What a superb video. The man has so much knowledge and you can see how eager he is to share in so much details. Great work Paaji. Keep up the good work

Paji this time i dont agree If you say 1.5 is the best turbo engine in 35 lakh range I agree But not for 1 litre because the price point at which it comes is targeted for mileage It doesn't fulfil that Customers are complaining about mileage and noise issues Vw should provide 1.2 at least Because performance wise 1 litre is ok but in other factors it suffers And other point is 1 litre turbo in 18 lakh topline model is makes no sense Either upgrade to 1.5 Or get ambition I hope you agree Even in your comments customers are complaining😅
I personally agree that one should prefer a 4 cylinder MT over 1.0 TSI Topline but only if you understand performance otherwise as I own both Engines, I have mad respect for 1.0 TSI in my Slavia the way it pulls upto 140 with 5 people, almost as good as my T-Roc upto 120 kmph and better stability too in Slavia
@@jethalalgada5 its not about superiority power etc The people buying it are normal comsumers or first time vw buyers They want mileage reliability etc and 1.0 is ruining image of vw itself Power is good in segment but need more displacement for AC issues and mileage

Against remapping scenes on German cars. Warranty > ECU map. I daily remapped Figo and had claimed warranty work but in case of VW they deny all warranty claims if a car is remapped. Moral, if you want more power buy a bigger engine forget remapping an euro car. Warrenty matters.
While what is told about VW might be true about running on 35% capacity, the Japanese engines on the other end too last long. In fact, very long. This fact is not mentioned in the video, which is very strange.

I agree with you German build their engines to last long. But I have found owners of big brands & expensive Cars change their Cars every 5 to 7 years. At the same time many CEO's or Young Car loving Owners also change their Cars quiet often. On an average Indians drives Cars 8-10,000 kms a year. There must be less than 10% owners who keeps their Car for more than 1.2 - 1.5 lac kms. Rest May keep on changing theirs Cars after 5-7 years because they are tired using the same Car & would love to buy newer models or want to experience another brand. People who can afford big brands & expensive Cars buys for Status & only 20% are self driven rest are chauffeur driven. More than 50% knows nothing about what is under the hood. Except it should offer good driving pleasure. Yeh naked Reality hai Paaji of India. Aur jab tak Service Stns District & Gaon tak nahi jayenge kitna bhi karlo Sales nos. nahi improve hoga. That's my opinion. मैं galat bhi ho sakta hu 😜😝😂🤣
Korean Engines has also been Tuned and working just fine . 1.4 TGDI now outputs 170 bhp and 290nm Torque . So far no reliability issues (Atishey Jain YT). I am not comparing them With Germans but they are not as fragile and weak as you perceive it to be . 😉
Sunderdeep ji & Munish ji, WHY TSI 1.0 is fuel guzzler(9kmpl) in 15-40kmph range, that hurts a lot in city traffic ? Burning costly XP95 in city traffic hurts. Is EGR something to do at this speed. On the highway at 90kmph I get 19kmpl. 70kmph I get 21kmpl, I use XP95.
Sir in city every gasoline engine struggles. Especially small turbos bcz dey sip fuel at smelting stage at idles. Small displacement compensate the power delivery via fuel delivery. So this is smthing true
Bhai kaha Ferrari, Koenigsegg and other super cars Supercharger lagati hai. Kya baat kar rahe ho. All of the fastest supercars are twin turbo charged or quad turbo charged and not “Supercharged”. Supercharger muscle cars mein zyaada use hota hai.
i think he is confused between twin scroll turbo chargers and a super charger . Both supercharger and turbocharger are methods of forced induction and work on different mechanisms , in turbo chargers there single scroll , twin scroll and then vgt turbo plus saying that japanese engines cant handle boosted power is some VW FANBOY stuff and very myopic and misleading , the 2jz of toyota ( japanese) is one of the most famous tuner engine all over the world capable of making 1000+ hp with 3 litre engine, aprt from that hondas K24 & K20 enginealso have legendary status in reliability and peak power handling capacity , dont know about korean engines
My Volkswagen Ameo Diesel has covered 2.16 lacs kms in 6.5 years, still going very strong....Few things would like to mention, Still it easily touches the speed of 180 kms per hour . Gives a fantastic mileage at an average speed of, 70-75 - 35 plus 100 km/hr - 27 120 - 150 plus - 21 1st Clutch work done after 1.30 lacs, still no issues with AC. Thats why i am a Huge fan of German Cars.

My point here is Japenese engines shouldn't be called out along the Koreans

Munishji,Can you tell some information about Honda's VTEC TURBO engine selling in other markets in next video
Their 1.5 VTEC TURBO makes 180bhp stock where VW's makes 150bhp..
They should consider 1.0 and 1.5 VTEC turbos for India but I think they aren't considering because of mainly four reasons:
1. Very less sales volume, less profit
2. They r treating indian market as 3rd grade which they actually doing by not launching good cars like HRV, Civic,Crv,Brv etc
3. Reliability issues because of india's poor fuel quality and they don't want to spoil their name in Reliability

Ur knowledge is great ...fall in love with german car after watching your videos .. planning to buy one . Keep posting more videos.. great work
Paaji one more question...
At lower gears the engine is noisy...is that a problem or regular characteristic of a VW's 1.0 TSI engine?
It is noisy at all gears, when you start the engine it run at 1100-1200rpm for 1-2 minutes before coming down to 800-900rpm, just start the car check the rpm, go out and observed the engine sound for 2 min come back inside car note current rpm difference.
After watching 29:00 to 31:00 I have question why turbocharger is lesser effective and producing less power in Summer..?
Please check videos of mukesh Chandra gond (noida) he will tell you that most reliable engines are of maruti and Hyundai not these German brands
Even if they brought 270hp in a lab that doesn't tell you how many minutes did the engine last without breaking down
Sir I own a Taigun 1.0 manual.. i feel it getting stalled on height or little slope (which it shouldn’t otherwise) in picking up in 1st gear.. if anyone else felt so plz highlight
I won't do it again (atleast not with family ;) )

Very insightful and not boring at the same time 👍🏼
Very insightful session. Just wanted to know one more thing. If 1.0 TSI is working on 30-40% pf capacity then shouldn't the VAG increase the potential since they are facing AC issues at slow speeds? 1.5 does not have this issue only 1.0 has.
Maybe they are taming it bit too much.
how to tune a 1.0l kushaq without voiding warranty i expect a 10hp gain and 20nm torque gain any ideas does a plug and play ecu work
Engines can make way more power than their original stock conditions.
The anatomy goes like this according to him
1. Turbo
2. Twin turbo
3. Supercharger
😂
Never heard of car with 4 superchargers. However, he doesn’t mention quad turbo setup.
Ferrari don’t use supercharger in their cars. In fact Ferrari doesnt like forced induction in its engines. Most of the Ferraris are NA and few are turbo powered for obvious reasons.

When I test drove kushaq 1.0 manual, I felt turbo lag in lower RPMs (
i agree that the driveability below 1750 especially in the city is worst...but to your question I think when turbo spools up at 1400 means it drinks more fuel from lower RPMS itself which results worst fuel economy...my thoughts 🧐
When ever turbo spools up , it drinks more fuel than actual
Sir please speak about vw tiguan diesel engine 2.0 145 Bhp and 340nm torque
What is the actual capacity of the 1.5 TSI evo engine?? Just as you mentioned for the 1.0

If you say 1.5 is the best turbo engine in 35 lakh range I agree
But not for 1 litre because the price point at which it comes is targeted for mileage
It doesn't fulfil that
Customers are complaining about mileage and noise issues

People who can afford big brands & expensive Cars buys for Status & only 20% are self driven rest are chauffeur driven. More than 50% knows nothing about what is under the hood. Except it should offer good driving pleasure.
Yeh naked Reality hai Paaji of India.
Aur jab tak Service Stns District & Gaon tak nahi jayenge kitna bhi karlo Sales nos. nahi improve hoga.
That's my opinion. मैं galat bhi ho sakta hu 😜😝😂🤣
Welcome back Manish jee aakein taras gaye te aapke dedaar me.
Honda engines are the most reliable . Don’t agree with the Japanese engine bit
So is Toyota and older Suzuki engines.
They are reliable but this information for turbo engines not naturally aspirated.
Turbo ki baat ho rahi h
Honda city ka sasta engine ka nahi
Honda ka bhi 1 ltr turbo engine hay , bas India me nahi aati.
Honda still go wrong trust me
Supercharger mini Cooper me milega aur Shelby cobra me bhi
Korean Engines has also been Tuned and working just fine . 1.4 TGDI now outputs 170 bhp and 290nm Torque . So far no reliability issues (Atishey Jain YT). I am not comparing them With Germans but they are not as fragile and weak as you perceive it to be . 😉
1.4 TGdi surely is a mature Engine
Sahi kaha bhai. Kaha se ate hai yo log 😂inko kuch ni pta bhai. Kuch b bol dete hai VW bhakat
i think he is confused between twin scroll turbo chargers and a super charger . Both supercharger and turbocharger are methods of forced induction and work on different mechanisms , in turbo chargers there single scroll , twin scroll and then vgt turbo
plus saying that japanese engines cant handle boosted power is some VW FANBOY stuff and very myopic and misleading , the 2jz of toyota ( japanese) is one of the most famous tuner engine all over the world capable of making 1000+ hp with 3 litre engine, aprt from that hondas K24 & K20 enginealso have legendary status in reliability and peak power handling capacity , dont know about korean engines
I totally agree with you bro.
This guy talking in the video need a career change man😂
absolutely ... no other manufacturer in the world can match the reliability of Japanese engine

Heads off Munish ji. You have a great knowledge about ENGINE'S. ❤
VW jetta run at 300 mph(not kmph) with a little modification, at bugatti speeds.
A true TSI engine bro 😂
I was waiting for this explanation for a very long time 😍
My Volkswagen Ameo Diesel has covered 2.16 lacs kms in 6.5 years, still going very strong....Few things would like to mention,
Still it easily touches the speed of 180 kms per hour .
Gives a fantastic mileage at an average speed of,
70-75 - 35 plus
100 km/hr - 27
120 - 150 plus - 21
1st Clutch work done after 1.30 lacs, still no issues with AC.
Thats why i am a Huge fan of German Cars.
I have a BMW 320i in stock condition . Do you recommend a mapping and how would it boost its performance . I am already enjoying the stock performance and have no complaints.
Sir just keep it stock if its already soothing performance dna
@@autoluxeindia Thank you 😊
seems like biased video, Japnese engines are far superior then German or any other, just look at reliability data of matured market like US or even Chineese there is reson why Toyota is number 1 in US. 270 BHP and engine life for how many minutes ?
Say no more th-cam.com/video/A1kbFndcrhw/w-d-xo.html
I am not talking abt anything dats available overseas. Video is purely on lineup of engines currently doing duty in india.
