The upscaling aspect of FSR hasn't been updated since version 2.2, which was released more than a year ago. Version 3.0 only added Frame Generation without changing the upscaling, that's why I referred to the previous version as FSR 2.2 and not 3.0.
Additionally, in terms of image quality, FSR looks the same on all GPUs (Intel, AMD or Nvidia), It utilizes the GPU's standard compute units and does not rely on any proprietary hardware from AMD to improve image quality.
I have so much respect for you and Alex from Digital Foundy for the in-depth coverage and work you put for us PC gamers. I can't thank you enough for this detailed analysis and all the effort that goes into it.

As always...great job mate! 👍👍❤️
Thank you for sharing! First channel to listen when it comes to PC Gaming topics.
Omg i had exactly same conclusion in my videos, nice video!
thank zour for the break down!
Excellent quality as always.
BenchmarKing quickly becoming the best channel on the platform for this kind if content, never misses on showing how every change/setting applies to the game when it matters the most and how it actually applies to real world gameplay rather than just pixel-peeping.
Keep it up my dude!
Great job!!! Your approach is spot on y very welcome!! As I said before in other channels FSR 3.1 looks really great on Horizon Forbidden and Ghost of Tsushima (I have a 43'-inch TV) but some youtubers chose to highlight only the flaws on Spiderman and Rachet And Clank. It could be better of course but an upscaler widely available with THIS level of quality is commendable.
Love your videos, my goto for benchmarking. Someone send this man a X3D chip already

If they can fix the particle ghosting, FSR will be in a very healthy state.
My friend you are giving Digital Foundry a run for their money. Love your optimisation guides as well ❤
One of the best and most consistent channels on this platform. Thank you for your service👑

Nice video. And I love the music in the background, whats his title?
Quality video as always, keep it up. Thanks
Also please do comparison between; FSR 3.1 FG with FSR Upscaling vs. FSR 3.1 FG with DLSS vs. Nvidia FG with DLSS.
yesss!! @benchmarking4386 test this!!
Thx for this video
FSR still a good option specially for those who have older GPUs, truly a life saving feature. But DLSS still the king for obvious reasons, so if tou have RTX just go for it, easy choice.
Another great video as always, keep it up.
Im wating your video on The last descendant, you do the best graphics settings and comparison videos on all YT!
test JUST the native FSR AA, thats where the smearing comes from in HFW, in HFW it is COUPLED to the upscaling.
Thank you for all your hard work! You have no idea how much you helped me in numerous games!
🔥🔥🎉
Hey man, I love your videos, keep up the excellent content, could you please make an optimization guide for The Division 2? That would be great, that game is too good, I just bought it on discount :)
Hey man i really like your content. Can you do optimized settings for Hitman World of Assassination?
The First Descendant benchmarking when?
thanks for the update!
Hello man, I love your videos, they are very useful. I was wondering if maybe you could make a video comparing each setting on "Once Human" or maybe "The first Descendant", I have the same card as you (3060ti), and I feel like it can sometimes be difficult to maintain 60fps on medium -high preset 1440p. I would love for you to compare one of the 2 games, thanks friend! You are amazing. Keep it up!
@@GOZANDEN I'm currently working on The First Descendant.
When I enable AMD FSR3 Frame Gen with any upscale combos, be it DLSS/FSR/XESS a short while later the game will exhibit shimmering and strobing. Even w/o upscaling, FG is just not working for me out of the box. What am I doing wrong?.
My spec is RTX 3060ti + Intel i5 10400f.
I use DLSS + FG AMD. Thanks amd
6:17 AMD could achieve better results by not overdoing the sharpening already. In any case, liked and subscribed.
👍
4k dlss performance vs 4k fsr quality which is better? To me the first one is superior.
It would be great examples of FG from the new FSR 3 combined with DLSS in gpus RTX 30/20. thanks
Hi BenchmarKing. Any plans for The First Descendant optimalization guide ?
Yes, I'm working on it.
@@benchmarking4386 Nice 🙂. Keep up good work. Best channel for optimalization guides 🙂
Will The Optimized King do once Human ?
Not really related to this video srry but anyway you could do a Hitman World of Assassination Optimized vid?

fsr 3.1 seems to be finally a good option. People tend to overdramatize its shortcomings while DLSS had much worse problems in not much earlier version and still was overhyped as something revolutionary
Will you do benchmark on Rpcs3 & Ryujinx Emulators please?
Rpcs3 depending on your cpu power, not gpu
can you pls make a new elden ring video and love the vid
I will cover it this month along with The First Descendant.

dir akhay upscaling f 1080x1920 HD
I constantly see people shitting on FSR since the day it came out because is not as effective as dlss, but the way i see it is that 90% of the result but with no hardware or software requirement (and thus way broader compayibility) is damn success
Though devs need to stop lollygagging and start implementing it around
ghosting for me is as worse as the disocclusion artifacts. I would still won't call it an improvement honestly
They still haven't fixed the VRAM leakage on this game. If you have 8gb VRAM and plays the game on high preset, the rest goes to the system ram and you get poor performance.
Can you do a video the first decendant fps guide

@@benchmarking4386 Came here to request this; looking forward to it 👍
There is an element in the material that is not true. Ghost of Tsushima never came out using FSR 2.2. The first implementation was FSR 3.0 or (FSR 3.1 Beta). From my observations, the previous version of FSR was visually better. Sparks from close range looked much better, Flames, for example on arrows, were much less pixelated, there were fewer artifacts related to indoor light flickering (such a spotlight like from sparks, in places where there should be none). I myself went back to the previous version of FSR and have the BETA version installed on Steam. I noticed on fsr 3.1 a problem with screen space reflections. when i set dynamic scaling everything is ok, but when i set it to quality and other options (balanced, performance), the reflections in the water are messed up. They do not scale along with the image. and appear in a different place. They are kind of shifted. Completely inadequate to what is above the surface of the water or other reflective material.
The upscaling aspect of FSR hasn't been updated since version 2.2, which was released about a year ago. Version 3.0 only added Frame Generation without changing the upscaling. that's why I referred to the previous version as FSR 2.2 and not 3.0.
I don't personally mind a softer image if it'll look better, however ghosting is very noticeable to my eyes so I'd rather keep it off... a bit disappointed with FSR 3.1
Definitely a work in progress, im just glad it's available for every card. Running FSR on my fiance's 1070 was wild
Softer image is not a problem at all, since any sharpening filter can "fix" this aspect.
Ghosting, on the other hand, is not easy to fix. Though it is fixable in case of DLSS (via DLSS Tweaks app).
I appreciate upscaling but frame gen has a way to go, I have noticed way to much artifacting in both DLSS3 and FSR3FG.
It depends on the target framerate. FG looks OK only if you are aiming at 120+ fps. At lower framerate artifacts intriduced by FG (especially AMD's one) are much more noticeable.
do a video about lossless scaling
Over hyped rubbish
@@Samelala In what way?
Well maybe it is better to use a bit of a stronger sharpness with 3.1?
It depends on your preference. But if you compare FSR 3.1 vs native TAA, you will see that FSR already looks a bit oversharpened. DLSS and XESS are closer to native in this regard.
ghosting is expected in Ghost of Tsushima, it's in the name bro
@@demize1153 😂😂
1:24 How exactly does FSR 3.1 look a lot cleaner here? I'm watching on a 1440p monitor full screen. What is the big difference?
1:41 The disoclussion is still there, how is it "significantly reduced" I don't understand. Maybe like 10% reduced but still really obvious.
1.24 I can clearly see 3.1 is much smoother with less aliasing and shimmering but at a cost of clarity. I prefer the slight blur of 3.1. Remember YT compression makes it much harder for us to see the difference.
@@mattstephen7494yes, same for me
TH-cam compression most likely to blame, if you want to see it for yourself, go ingame, set 1440p res with balanced preset between fsr2.2 vs fsr 3.1 for easier artefacts detection (quality is much harder to notice), record each session and then compared it both, you will find the same conclusion as many reviewer do that FSR3.1 is overall an improvement in less shimmering but it still introduce ghosting.
Chu point chu lol
Dlss always the best
Damn, still terrible, at least on 1440p Balanced.
First ❤
Bro in Ghost of Tsushima had 3.0 no 2.2, compare 3.0 vs 3.1
3.0 uses the same upscaler as 2.2 while only adding frame gen and native AA option
@@Radek494 but it's still not the same as saying it's 2.2..
@@marian8896 Technically yes, but the upscaler is the same and that's what matters when comparing upscaler quality
dlss3.7 > xess1.3 > fsr3.1
depends on the game! i have already tried it! and for example in spider man miles morales xess1.3 works better than fsr3.1.. but in ghost of tushima fsr3.1 works better than xess1.3 (i have an amd grapich card)
Another Fake Fsr
typical AMD releasing dog sh.t bet the fan girls still gonna defend this
lots of people with older nvidia cards use that too.. why would you be angry?
Кто вообще использует фср на балансе это же тупизм.
