Hi Everyone, there is something I did not cover in this regarding the V2 and binding. Sadly the same issue that was there before in the V2 goggles that when you change mode you loose the bindings is very much there still today and now with O3. If you in DIY mode and move to O3 your DIY bindings will be lost. The same stands for moving from O3 to DIY, Avata or Potato mode. However the previous behaviour of just rebinding one and the rest come back still appears to be there. This is going to be a PITA for people who want to fly mixed system regularly and it’s sad DJI have not put a better solution in place for this with the updates. Thanks Mad.
That's a pretty big deal if you have a used worn vista unit that happens to have a broken bind button. Maybe there is a way to short the pins on the board to get it into binding mode? Other than that is there any other way like using bf? because if not and you bound to the o3 system you wouldn't be able to get reconnected later when wanting to use your damaged vista
@@SkyCandyVisuals with a sewing pin you can easily short the pins. tap the two pads adjacent to the button. You need to short front to back pads on either side of the button. It's not too bad once you do it a few times.
Great review. It is very sad seeing DJI abandon the V1 goggles like that after just one generation in between. It would be an absolute dream of mine to see DJI release an update for the V1.

I like the new air unit DJI has come up with! I think for one it's very exciting to try and experience the new tech these drone companies are offering! I haven't flown any FPV lately but this might make me pick up the drone again

I've already heard buddies talk about the need to root the Gv2 BEFORE the firmware update (and they heard it from your video of course ;) Funny thing: I flew 99% with my V1 goggles over the last years. The I got the DJI FPV Drone when it came out - and like most pilots only flew it a couple of times. Since this I also only used the V2 goggles seldom - they are basically brand new. Love it that now they have a new purpose in their short product life ;)

I had a V2 and really liked them but got rid of them because they were not compatible with my Mini 4 Pro. But now I have an Avata 2 and do not like the new ones quite as much. I can not seem to get it to give me as clear of a picture as the V2 did. Can i use the V2 with the Avata 2?
Is the root hack just for canvas mode or is this for the 1200ml hack? Also If we have Lumineer patch antenna this could make it worse on O3? Could we have patch and original antennas up top at the same time?
I purchased a set of refurbished V2 goggles specifically to use with the air unit. I didn't want DJI's latest firmware infecting my V2 goggles I use for Vista units or have the Vista units infected by DJI's latest control grab firmware. The refurbished goggles are now set up with the 03 air unit. I used the Assistant 2 (FPV series) and the Assistant 2 (consumer drone series) to update, however, even though both assistant 2 versions showed the goggles were activated and updated to the latest firmware versions (screen blocked with message "firmware not the latest version, connect to fly app and update to the latest firmware) I could not get a settings screen until I connected to the fly app. I did the fly app last, I did not have to bind the DJI FPV quad and after the fly app update I did have the settings screen needed to switch to 03 air unit mode. Note: The goggles were refurbished and had to be set up like "new" goggles.

It looks like the upgrade from V1 Goggles to the new Goggles 2 is worth it. I will wait for more feeld testing about Long Range ant the O3 Ait unit and the compatibility with Air Unit V1 (O2) or the Caddx Vistas / Runcam Link. When i can get the same range or better and can fly all my existing DJI Kwads with one Goggles i am on board...
I saw a comment somewhere, but haven't seen it in any reviews, that you have to rebind any vista's if you switch between 03 and Vista, is that true? Sounds like a massive deal breaker for me since I still want to fly all my old Vista/links as well.

I've heard the Goggles 2 will support full OSD MSP with Betaflight but not with INAV? Is that something the INAV Devs might fix or is this a DJI issue? I'd sure like the new system and prefer to not be required to use the WTFOS hack. I fly fixed wing with INAV and would like the full OSD.

Hi Ian, I finally got the O3 air unit and got everything working on Ardupilot including OSD. But What I don't understand is how to merge the .srt with the image so I can have the overlay of the complete OSD over the video. When I download the .srt file I only see the basic OSD information like in the old system. Can you explain this please? I have the old V2 goggles. Thanks a lot!

I know it’s not the best video to comment on (I missed the last live stream) however do you think DJI will ever add compatibility to bind the Controller 2 to the Air Unit or Vista? I’ve just managed to buy a DJI FPV Combo Refurb for £575 and will be selling the FPV Drone and keeping the controller and goggles (great deal I know). Now I will need a drone and never flown digital before but some analogue. Wanted to pick up a Vista maybe for my Cinelog 25 Analogue and convert but would love to just use the small controller 2 at some stage rather than TX16S and ExpressLRS. Alternatively do I just punt for a brand new quad with O3 air unit and maybe get the new F5X Nazgul? Or are you aware of any small Cinewhoops coming with O3 soon? What are your thoughts?

I have two drones, one Avata (firmware 1.02.0) and one DJI FPV (1.02.0000) , one DJI googles v2 glasses, a DJI FLY RC - 2 remote control, is it possible to have two drones in this one bundle with glasses + remote, the task is to fly alternately on Avata, then on DJI FPV, but using one set of glasses + remote control as described above... Another point is that on the DJI FPV drone, I would not like to change the firmware 1.02.0000, since others are not amenable to removing restrictions. Guys, who has experience using such a bundle of equipment? thank you in advance for the answer.
I have few drones with vista units and 1 new DJI 03 unit. When I switch between modes on the v2 goggles I have to rebind either the 03 unit or the vista😡 Am I doing something wrong or is this a common problem??

Yep theres no reason why not same as making the v1 controller work with the o3 air unit. They shafted our early adoption trust.
That's what DJI do in all their ecosystems. From action cameras to drones, all the same behaviour.

Are Integra goggles compatibles ? It should as they are an alternative to goggles 2 if you buy an Avata drone.

Only if your using the Dji controller is what I understand. Otherwise it’s only transmitting 5.8

It only works with the Goggles 3 with O3. I discuss this in my latest video on this all I posted last week.

V1 is also the only one to get audio from the og air unit...keeping them just for that and backup for vista quads.

Yes you can switch back and forth but you will need to rebind when you switch.

No those things are not affected.
I have Goggles 2 which I use with my DJI drone. If I bind them to an O3 Air unit, will I have to rebind every time I switch between my DJI Drone and the O3 air unit?
No on Goggles 2. Only V2 needs to rebind every time.

So if you have the V1 you have 4 choices the V2, the Goggle 2, Walksnail or hd Zero :D you always need a new Goggle. Or just stay at V1
Of course stay in V1 until the market and community provide a better solution/product. There are no reason enough to change. Wtf bring to V1 much more life.

So if I upgrade my v2 rooted goggles to the newest version I wouldn't be able to connect to the Vista kit, right?
No, updates for the goggles are fine. If you update the vista to the latest you won’t be able to use it with the V2 and V1.

V2's let you also use and analog module so you can tinywhoop too without another set of goggles!
