That duet! I have no words to describe how good this is. I have to view it over and over. Thank God for J. S. Bach!!

I imagine the commentars from Bachs enployers who were more interested in economics than good music. A piece like this should awaken the most petrified old man to reevaluate his opinion and let him be thankful of having such a master producing wonderful music for every Sunday!!
Thank you to the people below who kept me listening to hear that duet aria. I wonder is that the most virtuosic violin obbligato in any Bach aria, and it's hats off here, wonderfully seen out.
A perfect performance
Of a perfect piece
With a perfect text.
Einfach wunderbar ! Wunderschön ! Herrlich !🥰❤🤩👍 welch glanzvoller Auftritt, welch erhellende Musik ! 🎶 Bach ist und bleibt für die Ewigkeit
Want to know what really stands out in Bach cantatas? Listen to and watch the basses. For many composers, the bass is simply used as fill. mostly just doubling of the harmony. But with Bach, the bass lines are as evolved, complex, and interesting as the melodies.
Seine Baßlinien sind wundervoll!
True.
Exactly. The bass lines are never trivial, but full of purpose, life, imagination.
I feel guilty about ignoring the rest of the cantata, but the chorus and the duet are such incredible wonders that I can't help it. The duet!
Bach gets an amazing sound out of a small number of instruments.
I love the opening movement, how the orchestra becomes tempestuous evertime the chorus begins to sing. The tenor-alto aria is absolutely fantastic.

What a fine Ensemble and Choir, a veritable feast. Each Cantata is like a jewel box. Your soloists are simply terrific. Thanks awfully Bachstiftung & Herr R.L.
Bravo Bach! Bravo Bachstiftung!! ❤️🎼🎵🎶👏🇮🇪☘️
It is a sundys´s pleasure to enjoy this music in these corona-times. A wonderful ensemble! :-)
Good lord. Was I born yesterday? No, but it seems like I just woke up and suddenly TH-cam is extravagantly immersed in exquisitely informed, apically performed Bach, navigated by brilliant, seasoned conductors endowed with the world’s most competent performers playing period instruments and demonstrating an understanding of mid-18th century musical sensibilities so thorough,, and a reverence of Bach’s generative incandescence so intimate, that a new species of sentient volition may be in order. We may be hearing better Bach than Bach ever heard.
ohh for sure! the musicians bach had at his disposal were fairly mediocre from what ive read. and of course the instruments have probably gotten "better" sound recording improved etc.
Yes, but Bach might be mortified to learn that his cantatas are appreciated more for their musical than their evangelical content.
Herrlich, göttlich! ❤
Awesome continuo realization from Rudi.
Extraordinary music.
Bach, he made music for God
Wonderful ensemble, magnificent soloists. I always end a Bachstiftung performance with a feeling of exhilaration!
So unbeschreiblich schön - vielen Dank!
Bach always knows how to use a simple step-wise figured bass and 6 4 pedal to make the modulations coherent
Wunderschoen! Danke sehr!
Beautifully performed, people. Thanks.
...hermosa aria para alto y tenor; magníficos Eichenberg, Mammel, y Renate.
A new one for me to listen to a bunch of times, wonderful. I wonder what the 7 tone deaf individuals are not hearing what I hear.
Amazing!
Gracias.
Das war eine wunderbare Aufführrung der Bach-Stiftung! Toll gesungen!
Sencillamente maravilloso
another great performance, bravo from Canada.
Merci infiniment 😊
Bravissimo
What we've been missing during pandemic. We are only 12 simple people and try Bach. Help us god.
My gratitude for this new cantata upload.
The video resolution is furthermore flawless!
Well done!

Bach uses a bag of tricks - secondary dominants, diminished chords, chromatic modulations, fugal rapid figurations, cantus whole notes, pedals, lots of 6 4, violinistic figurations, oboe interjections, tierce de picardie, homophonic passages, and lots of appogiature
What I really want to steal from Bach is that manic insistence on the Ritornello and the attaca figure
Meet Bach to fulfill your wish
The Italian concerto with its ritornello was all the rage in Germany at this time. Before they settled on the name _cantata_ for this kind of church music, they used to to call it a _concerto._ Even the chorus in Bach's time was conceived in terms of the concerto's division between _concertists_ and _ripienists._ The choir was divided into _concertists_ (who also sang the corresponding solos) and _ripienists_ (who doubled the concertists.)
@@herrickinman9303 I personally feel the sonata principle diffused some of that dance energy. Thanks for response. Very interesting!
Since I have no words to describe what I'm hearing I'll just read everyone else's comments. I would like to see the performances produced by the thumbs downers.
In principle, you are right. But I don't think you need to put this on. 147-2 pro down at the moment, hardly worth mentioning. - And - as I know by now - quite a few people use the downbutton because of the many ads on TH-cam! - Best regards.
@@peterwatchorn411 I adore and love J.S. Bach tremendously, probably more than even 99% of Bach "fans." that said- and to paraphrase nietzsche- when thou hast a virtue my brother do not insist that the whole world have the same virtue as then your virtue will become common. at different points in my life when i loved rap or techno or what have you i wouldve found this music boring. variety is the spice of life.
Ritornello - Nirvana verse-chorus-verse in the Baroque

THE COMPLICATED AND CONVOLUTED CROSS RHYTHMS MAKE ME NERVOUS IN THIS CANTATA.
I'm interested in your comment. In which movement do these cross rhythms occur?
I’m curious like William. Do you mean the dotted rhythms? I love syncopated Brahmsian galloping! But I don’t hear cross-rhythms in Bach. Triplets over 2/4?
Take a tranquilizer
It’s astonishing to think of the attitude that Bach was met by his employers -a bunch of old men ,who were certainly not very interested in music but more of economics and protested about his musical production , complaining of its length and technical complexity!Just this piece of music should let the most petrified unknowing old chap think otherwise, shouldn’t he?
So few string players, sad face :( Budget cuts at Bachstiftung?
Not really, but if you like our project you are always welcome to help us: www.bachipedia.org/en/support-us/
Tempo too fast
Boo! Boo! Boo! Sit down and shut up!
@@herrickinman9303 that should be Bou, Bou
Jan Bou, I am tired of replies like yours - you only say «tempo too fast» without any explanation why. So what do you know that Rudolf Lutz don’t know?
@@geiryvindeskeland7208 Listen to Harnoncourt for an alternative tempo. Neither Lutz nor anyone else "knows" what tempos were used back in 1725.
