Again, we hear the creative genius of Bach led by Rudolf Lutz and his team of musical players, mostly in song, but always in dance. It is good to see a conductor who dances and encourages every performer to do the same. In the dance I will especially commend violinist Plamena Nikitassova, who has shown her deep understanding of Bach in this and many other Stiftung performances. I think she understands Bach's secrets, because there is a humour in her playing that I am sure he would appreciate. I suspect she is enjoying a private joke with him at 20.14. He is winking to her and she is winking back and so everyone in the live and online audiences is inspired.
I just love seeing the performers make eye contact and smile at each other during a beautiful harmony-- all of them happy and joyful to be playing Bach together! The passion and artistry of these people is unmatched. It would be a shame if these brilliant cantatas were forgotten, so I commend Herr Lutz and all his talented musicians for bringing them "Bach to life" 😃
I began my voyage into Bach Cantatas with Karl Ristenpart in 1970 - Cantata 140. I then discovered Szmon Goldberg conducting Aafje Heynis in Cantata 170. I then collected as many Fritz Werner recordings as I could, then came Harnoncourt and Leonhardt - both who should be made to walk the plank for using pre-pubescent boys to mangle some of the greatest arias Bach wrote -then Koopman, Gardiner with his clipped 'English sound which I find totally repugnant, Herrwehge, I rediscovered Scherchen, got to know some Richter, which is all a long-winded way of saying that I have enjoyed the Bachstiftung more than any other. Kudos and much gratitude for this.
Horses for courses. I have the complete sets of Rilling, Gardiner and Leusink, plus the complete Erato "Grandes Cantates" series of Werner (which was my introduction to the cantatas, ironically the same BWV140 as yourself). I find that nobody gets them all completely right (whatever that means) , but I enjoy them all in different ways. Ruedi Lutz has done us a great service with this series, which I gladly add to the collection.

I'm sorry, I disagree. His voice is somewhat stiff (listen to the sustained notes in "lassen" for example), the real discovery for me is the great soprano, Ms. Wagner.
Fantastische uitvoering. 11:02 - Kommt ihr angefochtnen Sünder Bach is praised for many things, and rightly so, but he was one of the greatest songwriters of all time, and I just don't think this is said enough.
A flawless and stunning performance! Absolutely wonderful vocal soloists. I especially love the the counter-tenor, Terry Wey. (Only wish that Bach would have composed a wonderful TENOR aria.) Many thanks to everyone! 👍👏
Even Bach's run of the mill is so much more inspired than his contemporaries, almost all the time. And Dr. Lutz and the performers he has collected for this project are just magnificent. We are all so fortunate and grateful for this music.
Beautiful performance, as usual. The really sad thing to me is that the choir and orchestra are all much younger than the audience. Youth is missing out on this magnificent music.
I think classical music, like religion, requires a certain amount of life experience to fully appreciate it, so it tends to appeal to an older audience.
you can have youtube auto translate the german subtitles into english in your settings here. Not all of the cantatas have this option (or subtitles) at all, so it's great when they ARE on here.
Harika bir yorum; Bach'ın dehası yüceltilerek Tanrıya sunulan bir armağan sanki; göklerdeki huzurlu krallık sonsuza dek Bach'ın eserleri ile dile gelecek!.. 👌👏🎼🎶❤🙏🌹👋
Kommt, ihr angefochtnen Sünder - I hope Europe will not continue its selfishness any longer. Otherwise, you fallen sinners, you will have to listen to the voice of God. For those who understand, it is marvellous to listen to these beautiful words, which contain deep meanings for social morality, with Bach's unique music.
Great Bach as usual. The aria for bass is absolutely awesome, but I have a question: when does the man breath? Beautiful, wonderful, incredible... Thanks Bach, Herr Lutz, musicians and singers.

Expressive accessories to the basic design are allowed in this musical anguage. or they play from an edition closer to the manuscript. These are serious and experienced scholars. they don't make random choices without fidelity to the intent of the piece. I like how they are having fun according to the text (Rejoice)
When you only look at this channel and the Dutch All of Bach channel you must admit that there are a number of very convincing male altos and sopranos. Andreas Scholl, Maarten Engeltjes, Phillipe Jaroussky. And in this cantata singing in the choir Jan Börner, he sings a very nice aria in BWV 11.
The beautiful aria was ruined with this fake alto voice. Bring back the great alto voice of the past like Hertha Töpper, Christa Ludwig or Julia Hamari.

I believe they realize how fortunate they are to be working with each other as part of what is quite possibly the best Bach ensemble in the world!

My humble observation: this cantata has a refreshing "country dance" kind of energy, very simple, heartfelt, and confident.
So many of Bach's cantatas have dance-like rhythms and meters... you can basically dance to any of Bach's works... just do it
C'est toujours un très grand plaisir d'écouter les exécutants de la Fondation JS Bach.

They're observing Baroque performance practice, you ignorant fool.
I woke up in 10 minutes when the male soprano singers started to shout in a castrate manner.
There are no "male soprano singers" in this performance. Someone needs to slap you silly.
Male altos always sound so strained and lack subtlety and expression compared to female ones. At least it's not football though.
