    Dr Berg notes:
Magnesium is involved in hundreds of biochemical reactions that help prevent common problems such as atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure, insomnia, heart disease, leg cramps, and fatigue. Many people are magnesium deficient, but it’s almost impossible to test! Only 1% of your magnesium is in the blood-the rest is inside the cells.
Some common causes of magnesium deficiency include:
    •Genetic weakness
    •Low stomach acid
    •Prediabetes or diabetes
Magnesium depends on vitamin D, which many people have a genetic problem with. Vitamin D deficiency inhibits the proper function of magnesium in the body. You need a minimum of 10,000 IU of vitamin D daily.

Magnesium glycinate has an 80% absorption rate and also helps with sleep. Magnesium controls calcium, so you likely have excess calcium if you're magnesium deficient. Too much calcium causes cramping in the calves, high blood pressure, and arrhythmias.
Smoking, alcohol, soda, refined sugars, starches, and certain medications can all contribute to a magnesium deficiency.
Leafy greens, pumpkin seeds, chocolate, and nuts are the best food sources of magnesium.
You won't see results if you don’t give magnesium enough time to work. It takes at least 1 to 3 months to see results from magnesium.
Digestive issues like constipation or diarrhea can greatly affect your ability to absorb magnesium. Chronic stress and exercise can increase your magnesium requirements.
You can increase magnesium absorption by spreading your doses throughout the day rather than taking it all at once. Try drinking apple cider vinegar mixed with water to acidify the stomach and increase magnesium absorption.
    Thank you Dr Berg!

I was having a severe issue with sciatica for several months. It finally subsided,I was still having leg cramps. It felt as if my bones in my legs were aching. Long story short,I did my own research. I refused to take prednisone and other medications. I've been taking it for about a month. Needless to say, after two weeks, I started feeling so much better. It works...

You just made me realize that I havent had any issues with sciatica in a couple years! It used to be so bad, I could barely walk. Idk why I didn't notice when it stopped. Maybe because I was dealing with so many other issues..... all of which have resolved since taking the right supplements.

Sciatica is referred pain from the spine. I had instant relief with acupuncture in my pinched disk area of my lower spine, which they tried to tell me I needed surgery for!

    • @FredFun-vu5fk
      @FredFun-vu5fk หลายเดือนก่อน

Good on you for being brave and doing your own research. My doctor wanted me to do surgery, due to severe tennis and golfer’s elbow together on both hands. Which I had after attempting some DIY home renovation by myself.
But like you, I thought about it. When there is not much of real physical damage to the tendons, but just inflammation, where the acute pain is coming and why the muscles feel so weak? Felt it could be something to do with nerves as well, on top of the actual inflammation. If so what it could be? I know mostly in nerves it is charged ions getting exchanged. Made me wonder is it an electrical problem?
Decided to test it with some grounding techniques. Pain disappeared and regained 80-90% strength in few days. 5 years down, no medication no surgery ever. True at times a little pain may remind me ‘I’m still here’ but another grounding will imminently fix it.

You sharing your knowledge is absolutely invaluable! Your heartfelt kindness is beyond compare! When I first subscribed, I thought you were an M.D. gone rogue!! 😂 At first, I didn't realize you were a D.C. Well, it's no wonder that "curing" is at the forefront of your shared information, instead of, "treatment". I'm a 59yo (very masculine) man & it literally brings joyful tears to my eyes while thinking of your heartfelt kindness, the sharing of your knowledge, your in depth tutorials, etc...
So, with that said, I started taking baby steps with one of your previous videos about the vitamin D3 & Magnesium Glycinate combination & the change in my 42 year construction worker body has been significant! My, coenzyme based, multivitamin has 400 IUs of vitamin D & 40mg of Magnesium, so, I added 1,000 IUs of vitamin D3 & 200mg of Magnesium Glycinate to my regiment, and, WOW!! It's been well over 1 month, maybe 2 months now & the change, from my "baby step" has been like night & day!! I've been telling cohorts, coworkers, fellow contractors, etc...that I'm back to "Beast Mode" again! There's not enough positive adjectives in all of the world's dictionaries, combined, to describe what I've experienced!
You're an absolute blessing Dr. Berg! Keep fighting the good fight my fine fellow human being & thank you so much for all that you do!! 👍👍

@DoctorHealth8 you're quite welcome! I used to hang out with my aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc...at family gatherings listening to them converse while all of my younger cousins played. (I'm the oldest cousin & a first year Gen X'er) I am the older generation now & I'm willing to share with others that are willing to listen & learn. Placaters cause me to quit speaking immediately, mid sentence, & without excuse! It's different here on the Tube, the listeners are appreciative & welcoming! Naysayers get no attention from me & shouldn't get a single comment for their attention seeking negativity! I, myself, have always had a thirst for knowledge. Holistic living has been a welcomed lifestyle for me. Of course, as previously stated, I do take baby steps in order for those steps to become habitual! What has been perpetrated by government regulated agencies, we were supposed to trust, is nothing short of felonious!

This video came right on time. I had given up because health care professionals couldn't solve the myriad of issues I have. Then on Nov 30 i hit a brick wall. I'm not going to go into all the details, but I made an appt with my PCP. It had been almost 2 years since my last visit.
I asked for labs. One of them I was hoping would be low would be magnesium. It wasn't. Now I know why.
After Nov 30 I changed my diet completely. NO sugar, NO bad carbs.
My goal is to get my inflammation down, and now my A1c as I found that was at 6.5 when she did the labs.
My habits before this were atrocious. But I had given up after years of trying to feel better.
She is supplementing my Vit D, but it's probably not enough.

My sister trusts her doctor - he doesn't treat cause, test for imbalances, instead it's pill after pill to mask one symptom after another and she just won't believe me. It's the heart of the problem when they trust a doctor that treats symptoms rather than causes.

@@catitude4 I know, the worst part is my sister said if something doesn't give her instant relief she refuses to use it again. I told her natural supplements require time to heal her but she won't listen. The prescriptions she was on - one caused her to feel sick so they gave her nausea pills, then she got headaches from those, so she got pain meds, then her immune system started acting up and they gave her immune suppressing drugs, when the pain got worse in her neck, one doctor would give her three cortisol shots at a time and had her come back every several weeks. I dug into the types of pharmaceuticals she was taking and some of the side effects included osteoporosis, immune disease, arthritis, even dementia. You see, she doesn't take care of herself and continues to forget when I mention something she should try. I asked her to watch Dr. Berg videos and she said that she will read the comments and if she doesn't like them she does't watch the video. Just heartbreaking. I had a good cry but I know where she's headed - wheelchair bound and early death. Just makes me so sad.

I am also eating greens more often and arugula (K2) has been very, very beneficial. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you do!!

I started taking various forms of magnesium about 10-11 years ago in my late 30's. what actually got me on it was constant joint pains especially up in the shoulders and neck, couldn't turn my head. I scheduled an appt with a chiropractor. Then I read an article listing the common symptoms of magnesium deficiency. Started taking it....and ended up cancelling my chiropractic appt. Within weeks aches, kinks and cramps vanished.

I found that magnesium citrate helps with chronic severe anxiety, but I am limited in how much I can use because taking as much as I need causes diarrhea. Still, the lesser amount helps. I combine that with 2 antidepressant pharmaceuticals and 5htp. I also used to take St. John's Wort, but became immune after 11 or so years.
Hope everyone here has a great Christmas and Hanukkah!!

Any time someone, regardless of their profession, wants to be without oversight, it’s a red flag. Doctors have gotten used to patients fawning over their every syllable like their tongues were a miracle of God to the children of men, and no error can be found in them. It’s high time we, as individuals take responsibility and charge of our own health, and DEMAND healthcare (not sickcare) and doctors who will be our Co-pilots (not pilots). I left the military a long time ago, and ever since then, doctors don’t give me ORDERS, they make RECOMMENDATIONS.

@BacknRC, for older people we can almost assume they are low on magnesium. That is no excuse for the doctor's behavior. As others have mentioned, try and get a new doctor. In the meantime, supplementing with magnesium shouldn't be an issue. You can also try magnesium oil, which is Epsom salts dissolved in water. I find that the body absorbs many minerals better thru the skin as it doesn't cause intestinal issues.

I had a idiopathic sudden cardiac arrest 8 years ago, a year later I was shocked once a month Jan-April and would end up in the hospital a couple days while they try to figure me out . My heart doctor finally noticed my magnesium levels were low every time, when I had my SCA and subsequent defibrillator shocks. Since then I’ve been taking a lot of magnesium (glycinate is the best) and CoQ10; haven’t had a cardiac event since. I’ll never stop taking these two supplements.

Magnesium is crucial for many bodily functions, but deficiency is common. Common mistakes include not taking enough, not taking it long enough, and not addressing absorption issues. Proper dosage, timing, and complementary nutrients like vitamin D are important for effectiveness.

Of Magnesium, few know more than I. Greater absorption is through a Mg sulfate spray on the skin, especially for cramps, bypass the failing (struggling/compromised) digestive system to get greater use of it, at once. Magnesium malate preferentially loads to muscles, magnesium glycinate more for everything else. If insulin is compromised, can have a wasting effect: mg is, once used, and floating in blood, gets to kidneys and is filtered out then at a second stage is re-absorbed if your kidneys are working properly. If insulin is not working great, instead that magnesium is lost to urine. Creating a rapid deficiency. As in, everything you do, especially muscular work, that burns through Mg, loses it to the urine. Cramps, especially night cramps in the leg, are complicated by micro-shivering of the leg to keep warm, you won't notice the muscles contracting to make heat but you will lose magnesium locally and cramp. Mg cramps are not contraction caused by Mg they are the inability to use Mg to unload the contracted muscle - it locks up and stays that way until enough Mg is present to unlock it. An Mg spray can unlock that within seconds, it absorbs that well. Thank you Dr Berg I don't think I have seen any of your videos talking nonsense, where so many in the industry talk ... nonsense. But you could do a deep deep explainer of Mg covering the points I made above.

Diarrhea is one of the (sometimes intended) side effects of too much magnesium, but different kinds are absorbed differently. Some are not absorbed very well and pass through the digestion track and others cross the brain barrier and can cause hypermagnesemia (too much magnesium) affecting your heart and respiratory system. It's important to let your medical doctor or primary care physician know what dose you're taking, hypermagnesemia is rare and only occurs with supplements.
