  • Noob Goes Racing series.
    After having a blast racing a vintage RC buggy over the last six-plus months, now it's time to try the latest from Team Associated, the RC10 B6.4 2WD. In this series we will be building, racing, modifying and comparing it with my vintage Schumacher Cougar to see just how fast modern buggies are with the same electronics, driver and track layout. Also, we will be comparing track times with vintage bodies vs the modern cab forward style that I hate and seeing if it really does make a difference. First, let's build the chassis and paint up the modern body. I'm excited to see how this goes around the track.

    Highlight of this video for me.
    When Gavin said getting away from the tins and going to airbrush.
    Might find a handy media blaster box big enough to use as a spray booth for R/C car bodies. Find lots of helpful stuff Machine Mart.
    We call it Harbor Freight here, it's another one of those stores I'm not allowed in unless I have "adult" supervision.

    I’m predicting the AE will be 5 seconds faster 😅 smoother and softer around turns, softer landings, sharper steering, more traction. I’m sure you you’ll have to relearn the track using the new car.
    That large rochester decal is thick with a large white border.. would be cool if they made it the same as an RC grade body decal, and with clear border. Paint came out sweet 🏎️

    Very cool build, but I noticed that in the manual it says to put oil in the transmission but I suggest not to put oil. only because the gears are already plastic and they lubricant themselves. Love the vids. 👍

    Be careful running a pros setup, they tend to run their setups stiffer than what you would need. Simply because they’re carrying a lot more corner speed and need that stiffer suspension, it might be a little loose for you. Keep that in mind. You will replace the pills more often than you think, simply from ware. Stock up on those.

    Hey Gav, got a challenge for you (could be a good episode to show also) especially for a simple straight lined paint job. Grab a couple bottles of Liquid Mask. You will be amazed how many designs and contours you can do with a brush, really sharp blade and some mask. There are many videos (as I'm sure you are aware) showing how to do it, even as a beginner. Give it a go! PS, just purchased a T6.4 (truck) and looking to give it a go!

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did try it but getting a sharp line was impossible. I think the issue was I didn't put down enough and leave it long enough.

  • @barrycheesemore2928
    @barrycheesemore2928 ปีที่แล้ว

    You've done a great job of that buggy mate, that bodyshell looks awesome! I love the colour scheme, and that gold for the window surrounds really works well. As for setups, just run it as per the kit to start with and then see how it goes, and adjust as you need to. Pro setups are all well and good, but they may not suit the tracks you race on or your driving style. You need to drive it regularly then see what works and what doesn't, then make any changes. Don't just upgrade parts because someone says that they think it's necessary, or you like 'bling', that's a total waste of time. Good luck with it though, fingers crossed for you🤞🤞

    how many times do i have to hit the subscribe button for you to put proper electronics in it. (a 5.0turn :) ).
    *dont overtighten the camberlink holder in the transmission. the screw is there just to hold it in place, you can see in the video that the transmission halves has a gap between them.
    *make sure u dont overtighten anything, better to have a bit of play than anything binding. (bottom shockmounts, hub axles etc).
    *use lithium grease in the gearbox.
    *when upgrading to the alu diffcover, sand the plastic diffhousing flat.
    *there is some tricks ive done with the shocks. running 1 oring instead of 2.
    good looking build!

  • @GoWstingray
    @GoWstingray ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice build, been thinking about getting back into the sport recently, personnaly i wouldnt set the car up using a pro racers setup, unless it was to tailor to a certain surface as a starting place. I would probably go with as standard setup as possible to get a netrual balance to the car , and start tailoring to your driving style. Just just a thought, and to be honest i will be starting as a complete newbie as i havent been racing for over 20 years, so i might be just have the wrong thinking, and im struggling to find local clubs so thats another thing.
