Finally! RcRaf... Kicks! RcKicks video! During this quiet time I almost went to the dark side of YT. You know, Tomley, Popalong etc. Sweet car and build!
Parts are amazing for sure. It surprises me just how good the CNC work is on after market parts these days in RC. I don't think people realise just how hard it is and the tooling skills needed to make high end parts on such a scale.
Yep, the engineering is amazing. I went a bit nuts and ordered a load of other upgrades for the B7 yesterday. Totally not a good idea but I couldn't help myself.
Thanks for sharing Gavin Looks a nice bit of kit with the upgrades , definitely looking forward to seeing your journey with it and not long to carpet season 😊 Thanks again
@@RCKickschannel brilliant I’m sure your looking forward to it Enjoy your evening, will take a few races for you to get it dialled the way you want it, I certainly looking forward to seeing your footage and thoughts on the way it handles . Have a great weekend 😊👍
You’re going to want to shim the servo forward in the servo mount. You want the servo link to be parallel to the steering rack. That severe angle won’t let you have a linear feel from left to right. Get rid of the slipper too.
Nice build, make sure those roll bars are free, looks like they are a bit tight. Also the white slipper pads are more aggressive, I changed mine, preferred them much more
``I have got used to the look but the engineering is amazing. These are a massive step up and the performance is a big eye opener when you have been used to Tamiya cars
Man, these proper race-rig kits are GORGEOUS. It’s a shame AE won’t let this level of manufacturing trickle down to a lot of their other kits/RTR (I’m looking at you, Reflex 14b kit!).
@@RCKickschannel I did a video on the X12 (1/12th scale): th-cam.com/video/ifKPK3wg8Ig/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xonfdcgNdXVd4MGd The instructions are incredible. I will say about the Xray: parts are EXPENSIVE.
Also, machined shock internals are a must have, stupid price but used them on all of my associated shocks, and found 2.5mm pistons made the car feel dead, went with three hole 2mm thick pistons
Hi gavin...thanks for the information... Is there any others you can suggest ready made and run with top upgrades done ? And a fair price ..parts easy to get ...😊
used I would look at Team Associated B6.1 forward really. All fantastic buggies that are well supported. Team XRAY 2023 buggies but check your local market as it might not be as supported as the UK. As for a RTR, take a look at the Yokomo Rookie Offroad 2.0 but again, check support in your area.
Hi Gavin, I’m looking for a 4wd 1/10 buggy for a speed run build which has metal diffs and drive train etc but most importantly easily to get spares. Could you recommend one? I very much like the style of this buggy so something that looks similar. Many thanks
I can't really remember off the top of my head but if you have upgraded to the alloy steering, you need to look closely as it's different to when you use the kit plastic steering. I think when you have the kit steering, you use the hats but when you upgrade to the alloy, you remove the hats and use a spacer that goes inside between the bearings as the 6.4 is the same as the 7.
Where are you getting the tamiya thread lock? I haven't been able to find any. Everything says it's discontinued. I use to use it back in the late 90's but now that a started racing again I can't find any.
Great Build Vid . I just have to say its a shame the B7 Has issues with the C & D Block out of the box . Specially being one of their flagship Racing Buggy .
Yep, it was a bit of a mistake and I think it was due to giving the prototype cars to pro drivers and not getting some club racers to drive the car before release. Club racers are much harder on a buggy than pro drivers, so this weakness was not found by them. Easy fix not so no big deal.
wow....Almost the original kit price in Willspeed upgrades. So many tells me this B7 in original spec must be total Cack. Gonna give this a miss until the B7.1 comes out next week and then the B7.2 at Christmas follwed by the B7.3 early next year. Seems thats the way Team Associated have operated over the last few years !
I hear two types of comments on the B7 currently. One is it's crap out the box and I sold it, and the second is it's amazingly quick, so a polarising set of comments really. I am interested in finding out how it goes next week.
Help! Just got a RB10 and after the first run it's making a whining/squeal noise as it accelerates. Doesn't sound good at all. Brand new to RC. Can anyone help? Ideas about the issue? Thank you
Apparently the B7 likes to run better with softer oils vs the B6.4, so to me it's softer than I'm used to running. I am booked in for racing this friday so I will see how the car runs as a base line and then work from that. The shocks are current set following a pro driver on the same track as I run on so it's just a starting point. Apparently the B7 also likes a slightly higher pinion size vs B6.4 but I don't know yet.
@@RCKickschannel changing the piston hole size changes the pack which is high speed damping, it’s not the same as changing the oil which effects low speed damping.
Dear sir, would just like to "present" my opinion, I was expecting that you assemble the kit out of the box. Comment, test drive then evaluate. After these recommend the mods needed for the kit, to guide us. Maybe rate the mods according to its importants. Thank you sir.
I did this on my Team Associated B6.4. It is a load of work dismantling and reassembling the buggy over and over, so I didn't want to do that again when I now know what helped on my B6.4, and thus will work on the B7. The one I am interested in is the additional weight over the front of the car. Until I run, it I can't say if these upgrades will be a big improvement or not but I hope to get the buggy to a 50/50 distribution if I can. I know out the box, the B7 will always need some weight pushed forward to stop understeer as it's a 2WD buggy. In the next video I will be able to give you an update on the upgrade performances. A large number of the upgrades I added are to improve reliability over speed performance.
This is such a depressing video. People have bought these and built them. Basically saying they are utter rubbish. Unless you spend the kit price again. So you need a couple of grand to compete around a church hall on the weekends? Just nope. Selling it
When it comes to racing, you can chuck as much money at it as you like for sure. That's why I am doing a used racing setup series to show what you can get on a limited budget.
@RCKickschannel It just seems to get out of hand very quickly when you start adding things up. It's the nature of the hobby i guess. Really looking forward to the budget racer videos 👍

Gavin, you’re gonna go so much faster with our Disco Discs Double Dipped. Thanks so much for the feature 😊 ❤#TeamFullColour
Those look really nice!
Wahoo your back 😊 I was worried I hadn’t seen any new RCKicks vids.. great to see this Gavin.. lovely build 👍👍 Pete
I needed to take some time off to get some DIY jobs done before we go into winter in the UK.
Awesome! Thanks from this Aussie in China!
Hows things going in China? Hows the RC market and hobby doing?
Great vid and some very nice WS parts added to the car! 😎

So true!
Missed you sir. Was getting a bit worried there :-)

Yep, it needs to come forward. My plan is to replace the servo horn and add some shims to the ball joint to level it out
Nice build, make sure those roll bars are free, looks like they are a bit tight. Also the white slipper pads are more aggressive, I changed mine, preferred them much more
Well spotted, yes I did them a little too tight.
Nice buggy. I would get one if I raced. Having said that I own several buggies that were racers bitd. I just like the designs and how they drive.

You want the LFR Retro style body for the B7 (RPC Distribution bring them into the UK)
Yep, looks good
Cannot believe you put the alloy steering rack instructions straight back in the bag, didn’t even read them 😂

1.6 on the front and 2.0 on the rear currently. Red springs on the front and blue on the rear if I remember correctly off the top of my head.
@@RCKickschannel he’s talking about thickness of piston not hole size.
Welcome back lol
Who's this we? You are building the car alone 😁
B7 has some quality issues, which is a shame, but it seems to be improved/fixed in current kits.
OK, yes I have no friends so I made up my imaginary friend Dave. :)

Hi mate I’m having same problem with the alloy Rack for b.64. So the 2 bearing go in then these 2 washer then bearings .
Also I take tou don’t use the hats from kit because the bearings are different from kit.

Hi rckicks..how much would the team ascotiated dc 10 rb7 ready assembled with all the upgrades done on it ..😊
It's best not to work out the total price lol. I would guess for everything maxed out and all the best race electronics you can get to £1600

How does the diff and gears feel when you rotate them by hand. Does the mesh feel OK between the pinion and spur?
Do you drive your cars?
Do you know what a series is? How about a playlist? No, well let me help you out. th-cam.com/play/PLLRCQ2LgNjbaPgT-8Vw3zJhWvbo7_DzWJ.html
Get the yellow slip pads because the white ones will lock up your clutch, yellow will not do that.

Why change out the rear pistons for larger holes then complain it’s to soft on the rear? 😮

@@RCKickschannel , understood sir. Looking forward to the next videos on this and also your "Tamiya videos" [missing them]. Thanks.
Never understood why we use carbon fiber and aluminum to make a car lighter then ADD weight to the car.just makes me shake my head
Because if you build it "underweight" you can add weight to specific areas of the chassis to tune it for your own requirements.
Great to see you back Gav 👍, unfortunately, unless you are seriously into racing, this video was like watching paint dry, sorry 🙁.
Not for everyone

You can build and race it out of the box and if you can drive reasonably well, you'll be very competitive.
