  • If your Asus Laptop is not turning on, this tutorial will show you how to start troubleshooting for the cause. This video applies if your computer seems totally dead or has minimal signs of life including lights only or hard drive and fan sounds that start but then stop right away. Check out the FAQ's and Related Links below !!

    FAQ's:
    Q: Does this video apply to my issues?
    A: This video is for computers with no signs of life that appear 'dead'. It will also help if you see minimal signs of life such as lights only or some hard drive / fan sounds but they stop right a way. If you are able to see anything on the screen at any point or if the hard drive / fan sound remain on, your issue could be something else. Leave me a message with your exact symptoms and I can direct you to the correct video :)
    Q: I have tried all the steps seen here without identifying the issue :(
    A: If, after all these steps, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. I would start troubleshooting each component, starting with the charger and power jack. You can see those two videos here; • How To Test your Lapto... & • How to Fix Test Power ... . You can also try replacing other components like your Power Button to see if that is the route cause. If none of those are the issue, you would then be left with a motherboard replacement.

    My laptop has an indicator light that turns on when I'm charging even if it's turned off. I noticed that that indicator light is not working. And my laptop won't turn on

    I've owned a G512LV-ES74 (Asus Rog Strix G15, 2020) for 3 years, and I recently opened up my laptop to clean the fans. After disconnecting the battery connector and fan connectors, cleaning the fans, and putting everything back, my laptop will not turn on. I've done it before (sometime in 2022), but this time, there is no signs of life at all. Charging indicator does not light up when plugged, rgb lights won't turn on, nothing. I don't know how to remove the battery (only disconnect the connector), so I haven't tried that method you mentioned. I'm thinking I did something wrong (maybe forgot to plug something or something else) but I don't know, as I've doubled checked and remember plugging in everything I unplugged. There was no update beforehand, no spills, no overheating, etc. It worked completely normal last night. Could a battery or charger really die all of a sudden in the morning when the previous night it was completely fine?

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In order to perform the power drain test, you only need to disconnect the battery from the motherboard. As long as its disconnected, plastically removing it is not needed :) If the computer worked before I enter it but does not work after, my first assumption is that I left something disconnected or loose. Does this help review all the connections? th-cam.com/video/GLHCXWc1gbo/w-d-xo.html

    I used my laptop on an IKEA pad for laptops, but I used it upside-down on the soft side. One minute before midnight I quickly without thinking put the laptop on a chair and the IKEA-pad on top. I ran out to see the fireworks!🎆 When I came back the laptop was dead except that it was very warm and the status indicator was blinking white/blue (turns red when charging - same lamp). To get it working again I pressed the power button for 10 seconds or so. Then I waited for the laptop to cool down. Then I could turn it on again! Thanks for the video! I used the Nvidia GFX. Perhaps if I had used only the Intel integrated graphics it would not have become so warm.

      I see... It does happen often these days... And this laptop is new. It still charge when plugged. Maybe the battery is busted. Although.. speaking of charger, it comes with 2 type. Light (c-type 100w) and heavy (normal 220w). Maybe its because i constantly use the heavy one? Anyway thanks for responding

The battery indicator doesn't light up when plugged in not even when on battery. I tried both with/out the battery. Fans don't even spin, just nothing. I can't try another RAM, the other one I got has a different plug-in. The power diode just beeps but nothing happens. Is there any way you could help out?

    hey bud, how's it goin'... I'm having no power issue with TUF a17 2021.... Last time it was turned off there was a cellphone charging, and a wacom pen display was connected via hdmi ( hdmi plugs into radeon and not the rtx 3070 graphics ) I believe this combo produced the issue... anyways I tried removing the adapter , removing the battery, cleaing static charge... nadda... then a couple days later I did the same and it powered up and turned on just on battery... another issue appeared... when the laptop is closed and not turned off and you open the lid, sometimes it is impossible to enter pass.... this is how it booted this last time... i did a restart trough win...same thing couldn't input pass.. the I did a shutdown, and again no power issue... When I connect the charger the battery light is white = 100%.... I also tried removing RAM didnt help... Only thing I can think off is going to my friends garage and use the multimeter tool to measure the charge on ac adapter and on battery.... If you have any other suggestion ; I would appreciate it.... by the way this model doesnt have a coin cell battery to clear CMOS (spoke with ASUS).. have a good one....

    Hey! I have an ASUS ROG flow x16, model GV601V1-cs94. The other night it was working, then the next morning it wouldn’t turn on. When I’d plug it in the keys and power button would occasionally turn on, but after 2-3 seconds it would turn off. There may have been an update that went thru overnight, but I’m not 100% sure. I tried the options that were possible without opening the bottom (internal battery). Do you have any advice? Hey man ! You seem to know what you're talking about, so please, your insight would be appreciated.
    I have an ASUS GL502VMZ laptop that won't turn on. My setting has 4 total OSes: I have a 256 GB SSD with Windows 11 and Fedora (Linux)39, and a HDD with Ubuntu 23 and Windows 10. The reason why is, I had to give away one PC, so I just transferred my HDD to the ASUS one. That setup worked fine for about two days.
    Then the third day, Windows 11 started acting funny. It wouldn't boot (It would crash and gave me a Blue Screen Of Death, twice). When it finally booted, I updated drivers, in particular the ATK package for the keyboard controls, because my Backlit keyboard wouldn't turn on on Windows. I rebooted the PC and everything worked fine.
    The next day, my nightmare started.
    The laptop simply won't turn on anymore. Whenever I press the power on button, I get the 💡LED turning solid white, and the 🔋 light blinking green. The power button has its own LED that stays red the whole time. But I get nothing. I can hear the fans turning , but the screen shows nothing at all.
    I've tried holding the Power button for over 30 seconds, with and without the battery connected, on the battery, or on the AC adapter only...to no avail. Same behavior every time. One solid White light, and one blinking green.
    Any idea what I might be missing? 😢

      It's like 4th time in 3 months of time period. I press the power button for 1 minute 2 or 3 times times then it starts working but i am wondering that it shut down while the charger was plugged in

  • @sacadosify
    @sacadosify 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So, if my laptop is plugged in and I try holding down the power button for 30 seconds, it doesn't start up, but if I unplug the power cord (charger) and then press the button for 30 seconds, my laptop will turn on, but is slow to start up. This just started happening after almost a year of no problems. You're saying that we need to deenergize the internal components, which is understandable, but not sure why this would affect startup. This is the first laptop I've ever owned with this problem. My spouse has owned an Asus laptop for 5 years and his has never had this problem. It seems to me that either the charger, internal battery or internal power switching module is the culprit, but most likely in my case it's the charger.

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1. If the computer will only turn on after removing the charger, then I would try replacing the charger.

    • @sacadosify
      @sacadosify 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @PC_Monkey I think I will get a new charger. The problem gets worse the longer the charger is plugged in, but it seems like there's something else going on, too, because now it takes several attempts pressing the power button to get the laptop to start up. I'm taking it in for repair and will see what they say.

    Hey! Thanks for the video! Mine's a bit specific but I have an Asus TUF FOR FX516PC from 2021. I bought a new NVMe after the original from the PC died twice, and after installing it, it wouldn't turn on anymore. The laptop has a power led that also doesn't turn on no matter what, even though if I plug in a powerbank it will still get drained by the computer. Only two steps I couldn't do are the RAM and the CMOS battery, since the RAM is soldered and I couldn't find the CMOS battery!

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If, after all these steps, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. I would start troubleshooting each component, starting with the charger and power jack. You can see those two videos here; th-cam.com/video/YBhsVHideGE/w-d-xo.html & th-cam.com/video/HpabvrNaodU/w-d-xo.html. You can also try replacing other components like your Power Button to see if that is the route cause. If none of those are the issue, you would then be left with a motherboard replacement.

    My Asus has an internal battery, so I opened it as you suggested and disconnected the battery ribbon. This powers up the machine, so I reconnected the battery. The battery light indicator indicates it is charging, as does the battery icon in the OS as well, but... it seems to be stuck permanently at 6% charge. Should I assume this means the battery is just dead/defective? It's a bit of a bummer since I only bought the laptop new a month ago, but I guess at least it wouldn't be an overly difficult thing to replace.

I checked powercfg /energy to see the battery life and thought discharging was important after seeing a few comments. Now my pc wont turn on without the charger and it constantly keeps 30% and turns off if unplugged, not ever moving from 30. When I checked my battery life, the last charge capacity was 32% of the design capacity. Did discharging cause this and why was it working fine before?

      Common mistake. Leaving a lithium battery always plugged in actually damages the battery. I wouldnt bring it to 0, but it should still charge and discharge regularly. A lot of gamers with expensive computers actually install software at times to keep the battery from ever being charged all the way to 100% for this reason

Anyways I've not watched whole video yet, yours is the first one I've clicked on to start troubleshooting

    I've tried it all, nothing worked. 😭
    That computer was working just fine a day ago. I turned it off normally and unplugged it the day before. It worked perfectly. Now, it won't start. I get lights on, fans on, but nothing on screen.

      Are there any signs of life at all when you try to turn it on? Lights? Fan, Motherboard, or Hard Drive sounds? Anything seen on the screen? Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?

    Hi PC monkey PLEASE HELP PLEASE my ASUS TUF A17 laptop started having problems last week after it was updated. When I tried restarting it it said it ran into a problem and then showed automatic repair. I don’t properly remember, but there was an option saying 'repair' (I don't remember). It said some recently downloaded files may be deleted, or some things. I pressed 'yes' as I didn’t install things recently. After that, my laptop turned on and problems started, like Wi-Fi disconnecting and not showing its icons sometimes. I wasn’t able to open anything in my files as it would show 'no such interface supported.' When I tried troubleshooting, it said 'this file does not have an app associated…'. An hour ago, my laptop froze, so I tried restarting with the power button. When I tried turning it on, it showed 'your PC ran into a problem,' and after that, it automatically went to automatic repair. Then it again went to 'your PC ran into a problem,' and then its screen just turned off. Then I thought I'll start it again, but I suddenly saw the charging light also turned off, and till now, it isn’t turning on. I am really in a problem. Please help me if you can. I have a lot of homework. I am really scared I REALLY NEED HELP🙏🙏

      @@itserfan0017 Just so you know, liquid spill situations can be hard to troubleshoot just one issue as multiple different components and boards including the motherboard itself, could all be faulty.
      After a liquid spill, you want to first make sure the computer is 100% dry. You would turn your computer off immediately by pressing and holding the power button until the computer turns off. Then you would disassemble the computer as much as your comfortable with, at least trying to remove the bottom case. Then you would turn it on its side and let dry for a couple days. Have you done this yet or are you sure the computer is dry?
