Remember when 10 years ago was 2009, now its 2014 all of a sudden and 10 year old laptops are now fully capable haswell laptops with 4-8gb of ram at this age and usable to this day with windows 10 or 11
Nice video! Just installed Arch with I3wm on my 2010 HP EliteBook. Very useable, it has an i5-540M, 4GB Ram and an HDD. Half-Life 2 gets 6fps on max settings, but I managed to squeeze a pretty stable 30fps on lowest settings 720p which surprised me. Half-life 1 doesn't run much better but feels a lot smoother. Better for DwarfFortress CDDA Openttd etc. of course. Factorio and other modern 2D games run well too. Only two real complaints, the battery life is pretty miserable like you mentioned and the touchpad is tiny compared to anything modern. I3 is great because I don't have to use the touchpad nearly as much.
as someone who watches videos like these with no extensive knowledge on anything other than pc parts and windows, this is a channel i will come back to! you’re on par with the guys that install windows on pagers, or i saw a recent video of someone putting linux on a leapfrog and running the sonic kiosk
I have an x140e which is the AMD version of this laptop, and Debian with Xfce runs butter smooth. Also. Batocera, a Linux- based retrogaming front-end, runs ok off of an external flash drive.

Well Done Sir! New Sub: Detroit, Michigan, US
Cool demo video. I am using a X1-Carbon Thinkpad and this one has more ports than my newer Thinkpad. Cheers Mate!
I have modern Debian 12.8 on my 2009 Sony VAIO subnetbook and it runs fine minus Wimax doesn't work in the USA because no more 3G.
