    Excellent video sir, very informative better than the professional videos, down to earth like talking to a friend who knows what he is doing.

    I just changed mine at 120,000 miles. Two of them that were “loose” enough to get em out without a ratchet. Too easy for my liking. The plugs were all well over due. I could see the erosion. More than double the gap. I suggest doing plugs before 100k but remember to be careful with the aluminum threads. Clean everything beforehand. I used a shop vac with a homemade nozzle that fit inside the hole. Before and after removing the coils as well as the surrounding areas (injectors).

    Gotta be careful with those spark plug sockets. I've had them get stuck on the spark plug and detach from the socket extension, causing the socket to get stuck on the spark plug. The rubber gasket inside the socket fits the spark plug to tight. I recommend removing it and using the coil pack to remove the spark plug instead

    Did you change the plugs when the engine was cold or warm and what ft/lbs did you torque them down to

    • @Mighty-Quinn
      @Mighty-Quinn  ปีที่แล้ว

      I changed them while the engine was cold, and I torqued them to 132 inch lbs, which is what Ford says to do.

    • @TonyYesi
      @TonyYesi ปีที่แล้ว

      I torque mine to 23ft lbs. Don't go by the manual. The threads on these modular engines don't hold your spark plug if you torque them low. 23ft lbs and you will not have a spark plug blow out.

      @@johnmoore8456 I have a 2003 with the V8 gas engine. Changed my plugs and coils when the engine was cold. The back ones are somewhat of a pain to get to and require a lot of patience.

    How do those plugs run? I see a lot of people saying use only motorcraft plugs.

    • @Mighty-Quinn
      @Mighty-Quinn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SO far, they've been running just fine. Granted, these new plugs only have around 2000 miles on them right now.
      I've heard the same thing: "only use Motorcraft plugs", and while I don't dispute the quality, I have also never used Motorcraft plugs on these engines. I never saw a need to do so. There's not a notable difference between the ruthenium and the platinum (Motorcraft) that I can tell. There were a couple non Ford plugs in this engine that had been put in years ago (pre 200k miles) and they didn't look much different than the other 8 Ford plugs I pulled out.
      I don't remember if I mentioned it in the video or not, but my pickup (2001 F250 which also has the V10) has been running "Autolite iridium XP103" plugs for about 15k miles now, and I have had zero issues. These were worked fairly hard, since most of those 15k miles were driving 150 mile trips hauling hay, every day, for about 2 months straight. I even pulled them all about 8k miles after installing them, and they looked fine. None of 'em were loose either, which was nice.
      Based on my experience with this, I'd say you're fine to use non-Ford spark plugs. Just don't get anything less than platinum. Also torque them down correctly, that's the absolute biggest and most important thing.

    Can I use Motorola sp 479x plugs?

    • @Mighty-Quinn
      @Mighty-Quinn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the Motorcraft SP479 spark plugs will work in the Triton V10. That is what they had put in at the factory.
      Any spark plug you put in must be torqued to 132 inch lbs. I know it doesn't seem like a lot, but that is what Ford says to do.

    • @jamessampson5909
      @jamessampson5909 ปีที่แล้ว

      I went to pullba plug out of my 2000 and the plug has maybe 6 threads on it compared to the 479 which has more threads .still safe to use?

    • @Mighty-Quinn
      @Mighty-Quinn  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamessampson5909 Yep, the new plugs with more threads are safe to use. I noticed the same thing when I was changing plugs, but everything fit great and has been running just fine.
      Just remember to torque them correctly, I cannot stress that enough. If you overtighten them, they may not come back out in one piece.
