    I thought he’d somewhat redeemed himself when he interacted with Kanan as a force ghost-esque version of his previous self as a temple guard. It’s a little sad he helped Kanan but then was damned to be the fiery pet at the end of Vader’s leash.

    I feel kind of cheated by this retcon.
    In THE CLONE WARS "Mortis" arc, Dave Filoni and George Lucas were going to have Darth Revan return in Canon as a Force Ghost or Vision to the Son of Mortis.
    However, they decided that the Sith CAN'T return as Force Ghosts as it is contrary to the nature of the Dark Side, so Sith Ghosts were deemed non Canon...
    Yet, they seem to have brought the STAR WARS Legends' Sith Technique "Essence Transference" into Canon with Palpatine jumping into a clone body and Momin into his helmet.
    Oh well...at least we got to see the Grand Inquisitor once more.

    • @benlowe1701
      @benlowe1701 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I think it comes down to the idea that the Force Ghosts come from an acceptance of death, which is against the Sith. I don't think a Sith could "Return" as a Ghost. Could their spirits be bound, tortured, and kept in servitude to another in a torturous, half-existence from which they yearn release? Thats another issue entirely, and well within the preview of the Sith and what the Darkside means. The domination and control of others. More like classic Necromancy, then the more... divine-esque ability to return to help ones friends from beyond death.

    • @wildkatarn7141
      @wildkatarn7141 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@benlowe1701 I'm more inclined to believe that the Grand Inquisitor's spectre here is much like the illusion of Darth Bane Yoda encountered on Morriban.
      It had form and shape, but unlike Force Ghosts, have no true spirit within them. Now, the spectre seems to have some consciousness and even quoted the Grand Inquisitor's dying words, but I find it more akin to Bane's appearance in form and shape as well as ability.
      Luke, young and brash, fought with the illusion to gain his saber, unlike Yoda who saw the figure for what it was: an illusion.

    Personally I think the fire is similar to the specter of Darth Bane Yoda meet in the Clone Wars. Although in this case the Grand Inquisitior is stuck in a sort of “purgatory” forever as a specter in the serve of Darth Vader.

    • @kiyanhakim384

      I thought the same thing and as for bane, the inquisitor was a hurdle luke had to overcome. I don't think the grand inquisitor was real. I think his soul was trapped in this simulations of sorts. this leads me to believe that canon's darth bane's soul was also trapped in his tomb. And if disney goes with anything similar to legends with darth bane it would be wonderful to see him trapped by zannah.

    Didn't Yoda also speak to Darth Bane on Korriban/Moraband? Also, does this mean other Inqusitors that died may be bound somewhere? Like the ones killed on Malachor but mainly Trilla? Maybe that's why she was so afraid? So many questions!

    • @wildkatarn7141
      @wildkatarn7141 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bane's spirit is a bit of strange phenomenon. Both Lucas and Filoni have stated that Sith CAN'T return as Force Ghosts, as it is contrary to the nature of the Dark Side.
      The general consensus, as was Yoda's belief, is that what Yoda encountered on Morriban was an illusion, much like his confrontation with a "Dark Yoda." Neither were real.

    • @VictorPereira-sj7wb
      @VictorPereira-sj7wb 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wildkatarn7141 That makes sense, my thinking process would be that Sith can't return as Force Ghosts but would be bound at something or somewhere, eternally suffering because of their failures, perhaps even feeling pain from the injuries they received. It would be a fate worse than death

    • @wildkatarn7141
      @wildkatarn7141 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VictorPereira-sj7wb That is very likely the case for the Grand Inquisitor.
      However, I'm more inclined to believe that this is more of an apparition, an echo of the man the Grand Inquisitor once was like the vision of Bane on Morriband.
      Perhaps it's a Sith technique that is LIKE a Force Ghost, but imperfect as it's against the nature of the Dark Side. It might have vague awareness of the person they were formed after, but like Yoda's encounter with Bane, it's just an illusion, or perhaps is like a "golem" from Jewish folklore, a spiritless form that is created as a guard but has limited awareness.
      Perhaps the Grand Inquisitor found peace in the end, as we see him in Kanan Jarrus' Foce Vision when he was "knighted" in REBELS season 2.
      Perhaps it was merely a vision from the Force and not the ACTUAL Grand Inquisitor, but that's a debate for another time. 😁

    • @wildkatarn7141
      @wildkatarn7141 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's possible, but it would be a retcon to both Lucas and Filoni's view on the Force.
      During THE CLONE WARS "Mortis" arc, the Son of Mortis was meant to encounter the spirits of the Legends version of Darth Bane (with the orbelisk armor) and Darth Revan, who would act as spiritual advisers to the Son.
      It was animated and voiced, but both Lucas and Filoni decided that Sith CAN'T return as Force Ghosts, as it is contrary to the nature of the Dark Side.
      m.th-cam.com/video/HeluyPSnDQc/w-d-xo.html
      Most likely, this Grand Inquisitor is merely an apparition, an illusion created by Vader to attack any who invaded the Jedi Temple.
      I find this more likely, as it's implied the Inquisitor returned as a vision to Kanan Jarrus during his Force Vision where he attained Knighthood.
      What we see ISN'T the Grand Inquisitor, but merely an illusion given form.

    What I think happened is Sidious forced the GI's spirit into the temple grounds and when someone would enter it would materialize and he would be forced to fight them. He's already dead, we saw that, but if his spirit were trapped into the temple grounds to lure people in, that would make a lot of sense.

      I believe the lightsaber was the Grand Inquisitor's and that after Luke took the lightsaber from the temple, the Grand Inquisitor faded into nothingness when he said that line he said in Rebels. This to me almost feels like a cameo of the Grand Inquisitor.

      @@Dr_Primal Thats was I was thinking but not 100% sure since when Vader came back so did the inquisitor but its definitely possible. Maybe that's just an illusion of the dark side, because young Luke cut off his hand and destroyed him completely, but then he stands in front of Vader as if nothing had happened. I like the Yoda Vision better. It reminds me of a hell of fire, and I think that immortal souls cannot be tormented forever. Ghosts don't mind fire.
    But it could also be a force Vision in the Jeditemple, Luke has taken an old lightsaber from a temple guard in hand, that may even have belonged to the Grand Inquisitor, that's why he also had a vision of him. After all, Luke was in a Jedi temple. Cal Kestis had also touched the inquisitor's sword and could see into the past. So maybe Luke too. Just as Cal Kestis found out about the previous owner of the lightsaber, so did Luke.
    The yellow lightsaber was also split in half, as the temple guards had double-bladed lightsabers
    Rey also had a vision when she touched Luke`s or Anakin`s lightsaber.
    The Grandinquisitor would have killed Kanan and Ezra and other Jedi if they had saved him from death, bedause Kanan could have used the force to stop his fall oder pull him up.
    This Vision may also show, that the Grand Inquisitor did not change his attitude throug his suicide, or regretted anything he had done.

    Vader would never go that far to bring back the grand inquisitor
    Of course he had tried several methods in his quest to bring back padme. But every single one was a failure and from vader POV he would not put himself in that situation again just to bring back the grand inquisitor he would simply obliterate that already tried and failed pathway from existence
    He would not go back
    Of course he did it somehow. But i don’t think it would have anything to do with him trying to get padme back
    Inside he was still very much in love and in regards to her he was very much Anakin Skywalker. He would not in his mind once again “kill her” by blending vader and anakin
