- The Acolyte reviews split Disney Star Wars reception for season 1. While Amandla Stenberg, Leslye Headland and Manny Jacinto tried to pitch a season 2,.The Acolyte has now been cancelled. Despite cameos from Darth Plagueis and Yoda The Acolyte had messages about the Jedi and Sith that simply weren't popular with fans. So while The Acolyte premiere was Disney+ largest of 2024, the views didn't maintain across season 1. Is The Acolyte worth watching?

Star Wars The Acolyte reviews split the audience and critics, but the audience has once more been proven correct. Now even sources inside the shows cancellation have said that Amandla Stenberg's diss track actively damaged the reputation of the show, which you'd assume contributed to it's cancellation. At D23 Disney had The Acolyte comic books announced and even had a panel with Manny Jacinto. Which is even stranger when they announced the cancellation of the show on Manny's birthday! I was hoping for a second series of The Acolyte just because of the comedy value and the memes. But unfortunately Disney doesn't think that's worth $180 million. Yet as we know Disney realise Amandla Stenberg damaged the show, maybe that will be a hint that they should have restrictions on hiring activists in the future. I think nothing will be learned. I mean..the fan base they curated is on social media calling for deaths of all men after this news, just for starters.
She's young and she's trying to do what's right in her eyes, because she sees through a different lens. Just remember she's a young idealistic lady and we all made mistakes back at that age. You have a tendency to vilify people that are forced into hard spots. KK and LH are the real people to blame, these actors are given a crap plot and nonsense about the outside world, and after they work on a project, probably just want it to be good and will believe any reason it isn't accepted.
It just sucks that we're living in this world where we're all being exploited in some way or another, because it's hard to gauge true intentions. They literally try to trigger you into saying something they can twist into "this is racist"!!!!
Don't let their attacks bait you into something they can twist for their own agenda. You beat them at checkers, so move onto chess.

Amandla's "distrack" proved two things, the importance of hiring talented actors, and she is not one of those.

So twice as much time has been dedicated to female led series than the first 3 films. ....and somehow, these other fans are not being listened to / represented?
And you didn't even mention the sequels, Rogue one and basically the entire season 3 of the Womandalorian
because deep down they know (headland and co) that they dont belong in the franchise. they have a completely opposite beliefsystem to george lucas legacy, they wont ever empathize with the larger part of the fanbase, and they dont understand what a jedi truly is. no amount of female led series or movies will fill that void in their heads or their hearts

However the timeline from the Disney sequels is so ludicrous that even Disney itself seems to be loathed to go back to that time period. Yes Rogue One was OK, and Andor was actually pretty good. But how they are going to get past the Rise of Palpatine ..... errr .... I mean Skywalker is beyond me.

the thing about shows getting cancelled more now, I know Acolyte shills have very tenuous grasp on reality and history, but if you go back to the 80s,90s and early 00s when networks still chased ratings above everything because they were in the business of making money then and not ticking boxes, there are countless shows, that never even made a 1st season, some didnt even make it past a 1st episode, there were shows that got cancelled half way through filming, halfway through the episodes being shown due to the mid season break. Variety used to be full of lists of renewals and which shows survived, which didnt, as the Network execs were utterly ruthless the way they went about it, and we lost way better shows than the dross Disney+ have been serving up, and they cost a fraction of the money Disney have binned.

Stenberg is doing herself no favors . She should have been gracious , and shut up and let the show runners and producers take the blame for the flop. Instead she is getting up on her hind legs and taking ownership for the disaster.

The fact that they thought a show could be untouchable at all by virtue of its cast and the sexuality of its showrunner alone, despite terrible writing and dumping on the fans of the franchise, is a true indictment of whatever educational institution crapped those journos out.
This was actually a problem in the 2000s, maybe even the 2010s when good shows were canceled even if they were good because they didn't meet some short-term rating projections or were sabotaged by executives. The narrative doesn't work today because there's hardly anything worth watching made in the US.

That's the worst part - this wasn't the first draft. Kathleen Kennedy actually told Leslye Headland to rewrite the first draft because it was too good of a Star Wars Story, and that it needed to be a better Headland story. Star Wars hasn't been good since Kathleen Kennedy has been steward of it

The Acolyte was of supreme unimportance to me but it's ludicrous to say that Disparu and other critics are to blame for the cancellation of the show. It was an artistic and financial catastrophe. That's why it was cancelled.
If not for the YT critics watching the show for their reviews of how bad it was, the numbers of viewers would be even less.
Strategically, it is a very bad idea to blame these TH-camrs, because it makes the TH-camrs seem incredibly powerful. That is certainly not what they intended!

As a tennis fan I've always liked Ash Barty, the Australian former tennis champion. Very likeable and relatable personality. But there's one thing that niggles. She's carried on and on about her Aborigine ancestral heritage and how proud she is to represent the Aborigine tribes in sport. But in actual fact, according to her bloodline she is only 1/16th Aborigine. She is 15/16 white European stock. Yet she has never once expressed any pride in her European heritage. None at all. Never mentioned it. One can only assume she views that as nothing to be proud of. It's all about that one small non-white element which she's turned into a central feature of her identity.
Well, I'm not 100% white either (very few 'whites' actually are purely white) but I'll be damned if I ever act like these woke folks who despise whiteness - even their own whiteness.
It's a feature of American culture known as the "rule of hypodescent". Basically, if you have one drop of African blood, you're African. Other countries (like Brazil) have a spectrum of race based.mostly on skin color, but traditionally in America it's binary.
I learned that in undergrad in a "Race and Racism" class that was actually one of the best classes I ever took, because it had a THOUGHTFUL discussion of race and didn't spend the entire time shitting on me as a white guy.

Like people living in poverty and having no other real things in their hearts to be proud of. I think I'm mostly white, probably with some Jewish ancestry and I don't feel proud. The amount of copium they are imbibing is amazing. First of all, it was presented to people as a tv show, not a movie, not a limited series, not a miniseries… a normal tv series. That being said whether there was an announcement or not for a season 2 as a tv show it was expected to all at Disney this would likely get a season two. The fact its numbers were so laughably low made them decide to end it at one season.
