- In 1991, Star Wars Dark Empire was released as a comic series by Dark Horse, written by Tom Veitch and drawn by Cam Kennedy. Cover art was done by the wonderful Dave Dorman. An audiodrama for the comic was released in 1994 by Time Warner and Highbridge Audio. This Definitive Edition edit combines the two, along with adding John William's score + other Star Wars music. Enjoy!

The SFX, The voice acting, Music, story, dialogue.... within the 1st 10 mins of listening to this, I feel like a kid again watching Empire.
An understatement to say that Disney missed the mark. Big Time.
Edit : Yeah, 25 mins in... I wish the world was blessed with this as the 7th movie. It would've been tough with the actors being older, but I'm sure they could've figured something out. The Characters are exactly how they should be. This is Star Wars
Could've easily moved the plot 30 years into the future instead of 5, and you could've easily added characters like Finn and Rey to handle the action the retirement age rebels may not be volunteering for at the same rate they used to. Yeah, Star Wars is dead. It was mismanaged by incompetent, bumbling arrogant fools. And it hurts.
@@mr_rebornKyle ren is a good character, the Force Dyad is really cool concept and Rey might be a better character in her new movies that are planned.
I definitely wish Kylo REN wasn’t dead…maybe he isn’t, or maybe he is and Ben Solo lives again, free of the Force Dyad that turned him to the Dark

Exactly. True Star Wars is anything pre-Disney but here's hoping Disney comes up with something cool for once that isn't rehashed a million times from another franchise like Marvel or some crap.

For me, this is the only Canon. The complete Rey-Palpatine trilogy is garbage, I just ignore that.

A story where Palpatine comes back but in a meaningful way picking up on Plagueis, Bad Batch, and Mandalorian lore, completely removing Exogol from the equation would be amazing
Dark empire will always hold a special place in my heart as it was my introduction to the EU and helped me discover the post RotJ stories.

As an original 1977 fan I was thrilled when this comic was originally published, I have always saw it as the rebirth of Star Wars!

the voice actors in this are so spot on its crazy. enough to tell its not the original actors but not by much
I love how these old comic have 200x better writing then modern star wars
