The inverted swept wings create a very high CL and allow the aircraft to fly at low speeds without stalling. The shape of the SR-71 fuselage acts as a canard that further increases the CL. It is a great combination, the problem with inverted wings has been the high manufacturing cost due to resistance.which are exposed to great dynamic pressure. Good video keep having fun 👌🏻

@@hotlapkyle I’m definitely interested! I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get around to building it, but I’ll definitely give it a shot! This is a great take on the already BADASS SR-71!
Awesome!!, flies GREAT. I designed and built a FSW Sukhoi Berkut around 20 years ago with a 40 glow motor in the nose, everyone said "Won't fly". 😂 It did, and like yours, beautifully too. Video is on my channel still. Nice work, looks fantastic ❤
Awesome, and it looks like a fantastic flyer. Seems it just needs a bit of reinforcing on the fuselage and wings. Maybe channels for carbon fiber tubing run inside the forward edge of the wings and along the bottom of the fuselage.
Unfortunately it would make the plane un fixable if you do break something. I’m going to make a 64mm version with retracts and I’m going to add either zip ties or some landing skids for the 40mm
Maybe print some skids at the wing root and forward on the fuselage to give the wings clearance when you land? That is an AWESOME job and I would pay real money to get one!
Am so happy for the Author and I would buy this from him in a second 😅 everyone says forward swept wings can't work for real, but if you can make it work in a tiny little model, then it proves that so called 'real' engineers are full of something
So the issue in full scale is material science issues with strength and weight. The X29 had issues with making the wings strong enough to not break at 9g
The Air Force had a forward swept concept many years ago called the X-29. It was designed to be inherently unstable to give it extreme maneuverability.
Durability is the key now, flys well, but fly break, fly break, will not cut it. I have retired plane because of durable proplems, not fun. Keep up the work.
Provide thrust, lift, controls about the different axis of rotation, balance the weight at or near the center of lift and anything will fly, literally anything.

haha you praised too much how fast it can be printed ;) the pitch reaction is a bit slow because elevators are bit small as the plane lacks adjustable canards and is very long. nonetheless congratulations to the great design. i had the same HOLY feeling when trying forward sweep, it completely changed my thinking about aerodynamics, FS wings are more efficient, they generate more lift and less drag by smaller wing area. You can fly it manual which is great but if you can get rid of the vertical stabilizer and use spoilers for example it will even be more efficient. some inbuilt reflex is very good for FSW still i would change the CG more back until it becomes at the edge of controllability and then use a gyro, by this you get the most of the forward sweep, which is to sustain lift and controllability at higher angles. the plane could fly stable without vector thrust even at very high AoA which also facilitate landing
