absolutely- we will be releasing as separate files for use as a standalone aircraft - hand launched or one that can be released form a larger aircraft
Bro you are so cool!!! I have a request for you. Could you build the Trimaxion craft from the 1986 movie flight of the navigator? This is what I'm talking about: th-cam.com/video/z1TBjzfLpkw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CdwI50syXu7aAjMJ @@renerosentraeger
Amazing work. I've been thinking about how cool it would be to have an RTK-guided cruise missile using Ardupilot or Inav that flies into a large cardboard box on the ground. It would destroy the missile, but the electronics should survive. It would make a great demo for a flying club. :)
I got some cheap rtk radios made for fpv. A more fun thing would be the ublox untethered dead reckoning module, it would do the whole missile knows where it is by knowing where it isn't routine but still use gnss when it can.
I was thinking about that so much. its insane what a "pro" hobbyist can do today. take 4 -8 of those mini cruise missiles , make them fpv controlled , put 50-100grams of highexplosive (or even more maybe) strap them onto a big quad or octacopter that acts as a dropship and extends their range and boom, super cheap and reliable 8 shot top attack munition.
I'm also obsessed with the concept of releasing daughter aircraft from the mother ship. I've done a larger project with a rocket plane released from a large aircraft, and it worked very well. This is a very cool project!
Thr rear end of the plane looks like somthing from sukhoi the middle section from the sea tempest program from BAE systems and rolls royce even the sea tempest concept has the nose section looking like the f35 and air inlets from the f22 along with a even wider trapizoidal wing design
I know phones and such are listening what we are speaking and then we get advertisements on those things but this is the first time TH-cam recommends me something I've been thinking about making.
Awesome little thing, love it! Now put a small drone controller with ardupilot in it and you won't even need a second pilot, it would be quite appropriate for the cruise missile to fly itself around.
You could need to add a spring loaded plunger to your pylon to help with separation in flight. On actual planes the release equipment has them to ensure the weapon is pushed away from the plane as well as to overcome any frictional binding caused by the airflow pushing the weapon against the pylon
Hopefully the plans are changeable but at the very least, you could place pen springs in between the pylons yourself to gain that desired feature you want.
Oooohh that's nice! Rather than controlling it, it would be crazy if it could be automomous with a small GPS+INS chip. Maybe some LiDAR and/or pressure sensor for it to have some altitude awareness so it can follow terrain.
For altitude awareness, an ultrasonic sensor can also be used, as they are lightweight and small. These are used on small drones. A dihedral wing system, while maybe a bit finicky to get onto a cruise of this size, would provide some roll stability. GPS would be handy on a larger model with range, but an optional handy choice would be to install a mini infrared camera onto the same spot that the fpv cam will go, so that when in visual range of a target it can switch to infrared targeting for target tracking of a moving target.(with a bit of object tracking software of course).
@@linecraftman3907 It's functionality that's already available in a lot of drones and model rockets. It's perfectly fine unless it packs actual explosives.
@@viduraherath4008 if we are putting RC plane against rc tanks or fortifications with this hypothetical model, IR might not be too useful since there aren't many heat sources. A system like this similar to the oldschool "TV guidance" might be more useful and easy to implement
This is awesome! I am working on my senior project at Sacramento state for my Mechanical Engineering degree. I will be taking some design inspiration from you. Thank you!
It might be interesting to do a version of a Global Hawk or Reaper to use as the carrier, something that can almost glide around the field with a look-down camera, then release the gliders at set waypoints, so different pilots can compete to see how close they can get it to a target landing point. The powered ones could be used for an obstacle avoidance challenge course - through some gates under trees and around sheds. FPV and waypoint only competitions.
@@marcphilippveenendaal4394 That release method, is elegant in it's simplicity and functionality. It's only limit is the friction caused by the mass of the payload, if it exceeds the servo's torque. Same goes for the wing fold-out method.
There are already kinda is. Titan Dynamics Avenger 3D printed UAV - if you add few details and paint it USAF colors it can look the part and carry 3-4 of those bad boys too.

Awesome project! I got inspired by this and came up with a way to release the wings with a slight delay without an additional servo. Helps on weight and cost. Would love to work with you on this. Looking forward to the files!
That is awesome, but I would suggest a spring loaded kicker to push the cruise through the slip stream. At that scale it might not matter. But it's a thought!
Suggestion, maybe make one wing on the mini cruise spring loaded and the gear slightly thinner to guarantee the wings position is level. It seems to only close manually so it shouldn't hinder the original design.
Incredible work!!!! I was just thinking of a laser mounted on the aircraft that would guide your “missile” to its target… (the missile using an IR camera)
