Jeff was one of the most phenomenal guitarists to ever live. The fact that he would have another guitarist join his band and give him so much time in the spotlight is a testament to how humble and gracious Jeff Healey really was. He was a real gift to the world.
Absolutely! Jeff could bring it,on any instrument as well. He was a brilliant, humble , completely capable musician. I appreciate his total commitment to music.
Jeff's amp dies at the beginning of the song (they always sound the best right before they die...) otherwise he'd have come back and blown poor Phil off that stage...
@@JohnnyFaber I agree that Phil nails the srv,Jimi thing and he rips. I want to hear Phil without those two influences. Again he's really good. But from Jimis stuff in particular I hear way more then just guitar,I hear a note selection completely unique producing a sound to my ears that is like a sax, piano,or trumpet. So disappointing to see some of the comments, comparing KWS, PS and then putting one or the other down. These 3 guitarists would never do it themselves or appreciate it. All 3 are awesome, and deserve the praise they get for talent and endless dedication to reach these levels of performance.
I was in this concert. The weather was bad all day to 2 minutes before he started to play. Sun and warm came and we all see the light. Concert i never forget!!!
Love both these legends. In my opinion, Jeff is, and will always be the best guitar player that ever lived. What a blessing for all of us to of witnessed his life.🙏🏻❤️
I guested with Jeff in London many years ago, he was doing a benefit to raise money for the CNIB! Jeff was a true Gentleman and a smooth blues man! It was a honor to blow harp with him!
I discovered Jeff Healy on a musical TV show back in 1994 in France, on Arte, I was so flabbergasted! In the summer of 1997 when I went to Vancouver, (planning to immigrate to Canada) he was playing there. I was so happy, remembering the shock I had watching him on TV. We were very lucky to have a chance see him on stage. When I drive I listen to him very loud, I love it!
....yes,,,dude,,,,look at how long ago this is??!!!😯..it's still white!!!...he has been out playing but not giving the recognition !!!...holy shit!....now he's still as good,if not better.
He is so amazing. He developed his own technics, and if he can't hear it ? Nobody can. He must have gone over and over that neck just to identify the sound. For one note. And then to put together it just blows me away. Thank you Jeff. You gave us all a lesson. Your insperation, encourages me. Thank you
If you look close, nearly every single bar or riff, and especially any time he takes his hand off the fretboard he places it at the saddle or first fret and quickly reads up the neck reading the frets like braille more or less. Amd how he wad able to do it so quickly to the point of being unnoticeable unless you're looking for it. Is absolutely incredible and awe inspiring.
Blows my mind how Healey developed such amazing technique in the manner in which he played. Standard playing is challenging enough , but to play it like a lap steel, but adding all the other dynamics to it…? Just phenomenal . Rest In Peace, JH. Thanks for the music
I don’t know if you are a musician, and I am definitely not trying to be rude or condescending, but the Blues uses a usually very simple song structure often consisting of just 3 chords and the same 12 bars of music played over and over again. Yes, Philip and Jeff both did well here. I’m only saying that fitting in isn’t a challenge for either of them or for any Blues player. Now Jazz is a different story. There are often more chords, often complicated ones, and often with more complicated song structures as well. But ... in Jazz too, there are standard tunes (called Real Book, or Real Fake Book tunes) that people are expected to know and be able to improvise over. If you already know all this, then let this comment be for others.
Just because the basic structure of the blues is simple it doesn't mean that playing the blues Is easy... I don't really understand your point of fitting in as the blues isn't really about fitting in
@@freecitizen2760 blues is easy to play but hard to feel - i think that was Jimi Hendrix said that...to me there was electric guitar before Jimi and then after!
@@freecitizen2760 in fact Jazz may have more chord voicings but arguably that can make a simple solo sound even better as the rhythm makes all the harmonic choices. The 3 chord thing is funny really as there only the 2,3,6 and diminished left in any key right?

Dig Healey always, the Rockman on bass sounds good too, but Sayce's playing always makes me feel nervous for some reason. He's a great technician, but even now - 10 years later, not my thing.
